Hello guys. Finally decided to fill the empty space where the radio went with a panel for gauges. It will eventually have a oil temp and lambda (air/fuel) gauge, just need to save up the money to get some. Here are the pictures of said panel. Thanks Jan

I have the driver's side ventilator that came off of its socket and I cannot fit it back. Is there a trick to put it back in place and being movable?

Hey guys. Decided this weekend was a great time to pull out the center consul and see what is under it. Found two things that caught my eye. First off there is a weird wire that comes from the firewall area to the where the radio is (first pic). Can someone please tell me what this does and where it should be connected? Secondly I found a vacuum line that is not connected to anything. Does it need to go someplace? Thanks a lot Jan

No more seat squeaks! My seat backs would squeak when driving with each change in road surface. A little detective work showed that under the load of my big posterior, the seat-back spring-arm was just slightly rubbing against the spring case. With normal play in the seat, it would squeak while driving. I took them apart, cleaned and re-lubed them with no success. Then I tried adding a brass shim to move the arm away from the case, while better, this did not completely solve the problem. Attached are pics of the final solution. I used some 0.020" thick teflon sheet to prevent the spring from rubbing on the housing. (Probably not neccesary, but I had it apart an…

I'm picking up fresh bolts for the seat belts tomorrow, and I'm wondering if anyone used any particular spacers or washers for the upper shoulder strap mount. That bracket is supposed to swivel, and it's entirely possible that the PO just never put the proper spacers back on (both swivel bolts were loosely threaded into the pillar when I got it). I just have the bolts with very thin red papery washers on them. Any advice?

My front carpet is in really good shape. I have no complaints save one. While the carpets are in dandy condition, with the sound deadening foamy stuff glued to the bottom of the carpet, they are not attached to my floorboard. Is the sound deadening foam suppose to be glued to the floor? If so, is there a recommended way to do this? I have thought of spray adhesive as the obvious choice, but that could get messy. then I thought of using super strong velcro strips. Less messy, but may be noisy. But it would allow me to periodically clean underneath the carpet and check the floorpan on the inside. Curious as to what others have done.

After 38 years, we may all agree that the rear quarter plastic panels may not be as tight as new and squeaks may come from on the road. My car is original but it happened that I replaced some rivets with new repros sold by MSA but they don't feel to fit tight. Is there any remedy to the squeaks problem of the rear portion of the cabin. I have no problem at the front

Picked up a new rubber shift boot from MSA, it's actually a real Nissan part. Anyway, I have the metal ring that seals the boot to the transmission tunnel but no nuts or bolts. What type of hardware holds these parts together?

I have been tracking down and eliminating sources of gas odor in my 1973 240Z. I have replaced all of the vent hoses and the filler neck. The problem is 90% better but I can still smell a faint gas odor at times. I have been sniffing around and I think the source of the smell is from the gas cap area. I tried tightening the three bolts that lock the cap seat through the filler neck to the body to no effect. The cap looks fine and I tried bending the little tabs in to make it fit more snugly but it still smells. :disappoin Is this standard? It seems to me that the gas cap should seal pretty much 100% of the gas fumes. But before I lay out $55 for a new one I want…

I've recently bought a '73 240Z and I noticed that the speedometer has been acting strangely. The needle bobs up and down constantly and doesn't really stay still. Is there a fix?

Just got this carpet kit off of Ebay for my 76 280z. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390159139885 Having trouble figuring out where these two pieces go. Ones 22 by 8 and the other is 23 by 9 at their longest and widest parts. Also what's the part called that goes below the hatch and behind the seats. The part with the tool storage container on the other side of them. Looks like the seller forgot to include the carpet for them and I can't think of the what their called to describe it to the seller. Thanks everyone.

Hello all After months of procrastinating I finally forced myself to pull the old broken heater core out of my 280z. After removing the blower motor and it's housing I find that the hoses leading to and from the heater core are well a mess. I don't know which one goes where and how they are at all set up. I pulled everything out, cleaned and replaced. Now I'm at the moment where I need to pipe the system but I have no idea where what goes. The two manuals I have are little help but not really as specific as I would have hoped. Does anyone have any picture(s) of the plumbing down there? To and from the heater core, how they hoses go? Please its getting rather cold here in…
