Would appreciate some help regarding the mounting of the odometer reset switch. The car is a 1973 240z. The dash has been replaced and one of the last two things to find a home is the odometer reset. It is a long shaft without threads and there are some grooves on the shaft that make me think there must have been some sort of a pressure clip. The grooves are set back from where a knob might be attached. Here is a picture of what I have. If you could take a snapshot of the mechanical fastener, or know what it is called It would be a big help. Thanks .

I have pulled my dash out of my '75 280Z to replace the heater control valves and heater core. Before doing so I tried to get a better idea of which wires that needed to be undone before removal. I have the Factory service manual and have watched several YouTube videos but none do a very good job of identifying exactly what the wires look like and where or how that can be gotten to (is it under the dash or after the dash is pulled out a little). I realize that this may be a little basic for all those who have already pulled their dashes and pretty much know what and where to find these wires. The bolts are pretty much no brainers. The speedo cable was located in an area …

Please help me identify the bottom spare tire hold down in the attached photos. (I believe the top spare tire hold down is for the 240Z.) Thanks, Keith

I removed my door latch mechanism and cleaned it up. When I reinstalled it, I realized that it wasn’t functioning smoothly. I pulled it out again and realized that the ball crank bushing was too small. After comparing it to a spare I have, I discovered that the hole in the ball crank (metal cam with hole in the middle) is larger than in the other car. I could install the spare, but it has issues of its own. Does anyone know if the mechanism changed between model years? The pic shows the spare with the smaller hole. I’ll post a comparison photo tomorrow.. If it did change, does anyone know where I can find a larger bushing? Does anyone know where I c…

Found out over the weekend that my wife's newly inherited 72 240 originally had white interior. The rear plastic panels had been covered with black cloth, the diamond vinyl and door panels have been sprayed black and the seats recovered with incorrect black covers. I think putting it back to white would be cool but after a little research it appears that white interior pieces are tough to get. Thoughts ,experiences?

This is probably a stretch if anyone has these for sale but if anyone could take a picture showing the bracket that might help me also. circled in red I don’t seem to have a bracket where this should connect on the driver or passenger side. I have the original parts not these carbon ones but all the mounting is the same

So I just had an expansion hose fitting snap on me. How undrivable would this make it? It's the larger hose of the two going in the bottom.

Three questions on this: I have some leftover Thermo Tec. Has anyone seen any benefit in applying this to the door? The openings in the door were each covered with homemade plastic covers that I made 20-30 years ago out of 5 mil Mylar, but I don't remember if I was replacing factory-original covers. Were these original? The entire door was covered by a 'watershield', but I remember even less about that. The FSM only mentions that it exists, but doesn't illustrate it. I think it was a thin plastic sheet secured on the top and sides (but not bottom). Does that sound right? Thanks in advance...

So my original key switch had a minor idiosyncrasy in that the key had to be in just the right spot in order for it to turn. I ordered a new assembly which seems to be of high quality and works as it should. However, the trim ring is too small by about 1.3mm, to fit around the new key switch. The car is a 71 and I’m not sure if the switch I have replaced was original or not. The new switch looks like crap without a trim ring around it and I don’t think I can live with it. Before I go monkeying with trying to stretch out the trim ring, are there alternative rings that will fit replacement switches? Can the old tumbler be refurbished to work without fiddling with it every…

I'm trying to reassemble my doors, and I can't find the hardware that attaches the door lock bell crank to the door metal. A diagram from carpartsmanual.com shows this: ...but I can't find anything resembling 13, 14, or 15 in the parts I removed. I'm also confused by the fact that the diagram calls out qty 4 for the collar (13). Were two collars used, with one on each side of the bell crank? Does anybody know if this collar is metal, or nylon? Of course I can't find any reproduction parts, and I fear that a homemade solution will provide sloppy performance. So, does this diagram look correct? Thanks guys...
