  1. Check Yellow Pages. Full Service Radiator Shops clean and repair gas tanks.
  2. Well, between all of the members who have posted, we've covered almost everything. Let us know which item it turned out to be.
  3. Have you inquired at places like Eric Neyerlin's www.zparts.com and Danny's Datsuns at www.webspawner.com/users/dannysdatsuns/index.html They have had the hard to find parts when I needed stuff.
  4. Walter: Looked at the Vic Brit catalog again, and I do see the item you pictured. Not listed as available, and appears in the diagram in very light drawing, and only for 70 -72. Hmmmm. How do they (Nissan) expect people to fix cars if parts are not available?
  5. Thanks Walter. So this thing is "upstream from the T? I'll crawl under my car tomorrow and see if I have one of these in my 72.
  6. Only one pic to go on, but I like it better than the regular "toad". Now, if only they could keep the look and get it to lose 600 lbs.
  7. Walter: Do you have a digi camera to post a picture of the item you're refering to? I don't recall anything but the connector at the rear of my car (that doesn't mean it isn't there). The Vic Brit catalog doesn't show anything else in the system back there, and their drawings are usually complete even if they don't have the part. Still, I cannot imagine what significant value something connected only to the rear brakes would have on a street car. I'll check FSM and Haynes, etc tomorrow. I don't know about your local Nissan parts guy, but mine is a fountain of misinformation. Sometimes I wonder if he even has a S30 fiche in that machine.
  8. I do not think that the item in the rear (near RR wheelwell) is a proportioning valve at all. I don't have my shop manual with me, but Vic Brit describes this item as a "3-way tube connector", which is what I believe it is, a connector and nothing more. What could it possibly "proportion"? RR and LR wheel cylinders at most. It has no connection to the front brakes, which do "most" of the work. Also, this same little item (I call it a distribution block) appears on 70 - 78 Z cars. Vic Brit lists the same part for all of these years, PN #64-627 for $16.95 The item on the firewall of 73 - 78 Z cars is called a "4 way valve assembly" and BOTH front and rear brake tubing connects to this item. This would fit the description of what I would call a proportioning valve. I do not believe that the 70-72 Z's had a proportioning valve. I'll check my FSM for more info tomorrow. Anybody have their FSM available now?

Try Classic Motorbooks in Osceola, WS. They have a website, just do a google search.
  10. Mike, I agree with your statements. However, I will add the following: IMO, IF someone has taken over the business (for whatever reason, but especially if something tragic has occured), the new owner has NOT done themselves, or the loyal customer base (built up by Chloe through lots of hard work) any favors. It only takes a few seconds to post an announcement with some meaningfull explanation here OR on the MidwestZ website. The "new website coming" notation on midwest.com really isn't satisfactory to me as a loyal customer of Chloe and MidwestZ. JMO
  11. I agree with Stephen. BTDT
  12. I always thought they were some sort of stainless steel. Never tried the old magnet trick though.
  13. I just uploaded a 1024 x 768 image.
  14. Water causes rust. High pressure AIR is what you should use, unless your object is to : a) contaminate the rest of the fuel system complete the rusting up of the lines
  15. I sent several emails last time they listed a batch of auctions ( a week or more ago) and have not gotten a reply to any of them. I can only assune that someone else is running the business, and doesn't care to comment on Chloe. Also doesn't care about her participation and support of the website. If they did, they'd have made contact by now.
  16. could also be that your gastank is gunked up. If the "line" is gunked up, that shiat came from somewhere.................and that is usually the tank. The line ain't connected to anything else! I'd pull it ALL out and inspect everything.
  17. I would be interested (if/when my job situation changes)
  18. Next time I have need of one of these tools, I'm gonna buy one. When I'm done, I'll sell it for around half price if I can't forsee needing it again. I will never do this job without the tool again. I have seen the light.
  19. Square Trade is a legitimate program that many eBay sellers belong to. I am not sure of the precedural steps in a Square Trade transaction, but the program itself is legitimate.
  20. coud be, but usually u-joints act up before you reach 60 mph. Still, worth checking out.
  21. Then I would first check for a Tire/Wheel imbalance. Could also be a rotted steering coupler. was that replaced or inspected for damage? 30 yr old rubber deteriorates. Did you have Nissan OEM suspension parts installed? If not, you wouldn't be the first one to discover that "some" aftermarket suspension parts (tierods, ball joints, etc) are not worth the powder it would take to blow them to hell and back.
  22. Balance the tires/wheels Rebuild suspension (ball joints, inner & outer tierod ends, wheel bearings)
  23. "Chill pills for sale, get your ice cold Chill pills. Two for a dollar."LOL I think 240ZX just misread the earlier (original) post, or didn't read it carefully.
  24. How about a picture of the gauges that you have in the dash you're refering to? All the gauges I have seen in 240Z's here in the US have seemed to have same font sizes for the 70-73 years. Or are you refering to the font of the mfg name plate on the glovebox door, which could have been replaced separate from the dash itself?
