  1. Well, My guess is that like many multi-word terms (for lack of a better description) it has been "shortened" to make conversation a bit easier. Like WMD's, Yellowcake, etc. Technically ( & literally), the term "Factory Restored" is of course, incorrect (like many shortened terms commonly used in the world); and *most* people (especially here) realize that. Since we (and most people discussing them) are not trying to sell them, or otherwise attempting to misrepresent them, I don't see this as anything more than a "nit". Now that we have discussed it, if anyone is confused about the term, they have only to conduct a simple "SEARCH" and they will learn the true meaning of the term.
  2. I editted my last post since you posted. Double check both ends of the wires. If the engine WAS NOT running this way before you worked on it, it's likely that something isn't adjusted right, and doubtful that you would need a new engine. What kind of electronic ignition did you install? Did you adjust the timing after installing the new ignition?
  3. That is my photo. Rotor moves COUNTERCLOCKWISE. "IF" you have it like the photo shows, you are wired correctly on that end of the plug wires. Double check the other end of the wires, it's easy to get 2,3 or 3,4 or 4,5 mixed up. (damn internet connection crashed)
  4. I don't think so. Anyway, wire it like this attached photo and you'll be correctly wired.
  5. 1-5-3-6-2-4 In the direction tha the rotor turns. (I think that is COUNTERCLOCKWISE) Try that. I think you got it out of sequence.
  6. Can't find a pic of one, but if you look at the "attached pics" in MikeW's post at the bottom of Page 1 of this thread, there is a small hole in the door frame of the body. A small bullet shaped piece of rubber goes there to cushion the door against the body.
  7. You also have to undo the control cables down at the firewall (on both sides of the trans tunnel) where they hook up to the actual heater control door levers.
  8. I agree with Stephen. They are Nissan Factory "Authorized" Restorations. I don't think Nissan ever tried to pass them off as having been restored in a Nissan Factory (either in USA or Japan). $.01
  9. It's been so long ago that I got them (door bumpers), I don't remember where I got them, but it was either a local Nissan dealer, Courtesy Nissan, or MSA (I know it wasn't VB). Probably will take me a week to find them when I next try to install them. I used your "from the other side" trick to get the plugs out of the chassis for the retractable seatbelts I am installing.
  10. Is there a trick to installing the door bumpers? My car had them when I bought her, but they "fell off" somewhere along the line. I have new ones, but the little plug doesn't want to pop into the hole to secure them to the car. I tried lube on the rubber bumper but it didn't help. Any tips would be appreciated. Carl

  13. Can't the Dupont retailer look it up from the Factory Code? Seems like they should be able to. Their # has to be referenced to the Nissan (or whatever manufacturer) code.
  14. I don't remember, as I have only seen one FR Zcar and that was a couple of years ago. Maybe Vicky (ZRush) can tell us, since she owns one.

You know, the values that GWB and his cronies espouse. 3A. Bin-Ladin has had a stiffy for the USA since the mid-80's (Reagan Administration). 3B. There are larger issues to the sharing of information between CIA and FBI. Each agency doesn't even run it's own house efficiently, how can one expect RIVAL (budget, power, etc) agencies to co-opperate successfully with each other? 4. As for the war, Who told you that Osama Bin-Ladin was in Iraq? Your pal GWB told us that we were in Iraq to fight Saddam Hussein and secure the WMD's. Guess he was LYING. Saddam is gone, can't find the WMD's, and the Iraqi's are still killing our sons and daughters out of gratitude for what we have done "to help them". Defend ourselves? From Iraq? When did they attack us? Oh, yeah after we invaded their country. :stupid: 5. Break? Which leg would you like broken? :cheeky: 6. Don't lose the fire, but get the story straight before you strike the match.
  16. I wonder if it was really a "Factory Restored" Z. I cannot imagine that the Engine Compartment paint would have been left "original" on one of these, since the stripped the chassis down completely. Same with the Tail light Fininsher panel. Did it have the "Nissan Factory Restored" badges that indicate it was part of the program?

  19. I had problems with Never Fog when it first came out. Tossed the bottle in the garbage within a week.
  20. Congradulations on the buy. How many miles does it have on it? Use the Search Function and I think you'll find lots of discussion on the Factory restored Z's. Pics in a few weeks?

  23. There are 3 or 4 screws as you say (think it's 4, but memory could be wrong). My guess is that yours are covered with undercoating or mud and crap. If you scrape (or wire brush) all that $hit away, hopefully you'll find screw heads that haven't been buggered up by the previous owner of your car. This is easier done with the front wheel removed from the car. Support the car well, since you'll be sitting in the wheelwell while doing this.
  24. Why not just buy a K&N filter for the stock Air Cleaner Assembly? Then you don't have to figure out plumbing places for the Float Bowl vent hoses, and the the Flow Guide Valve.
