  1. I believe yes it could hinder the clutches performance but more than likely wear it out alot quicker than a normal clutch. You wouldn't want this kind of clutch on a street car basically because there is no balancing you either are engadged or not. So when you let go of the clutch that's it there's no riding it. For my Z I have a heavy duty clutch plate with high tension teeth and the actual clutch is the normal street type but it's heavy duty. It works really well and is still very light. :cheeky:
  2. Yeah i was gonna say earlier i know a guy who chromed that panel and his car is Silver looks really good but I think it only works on his car. He keeps telling me to do it but i think it would look strange on a red Z.
  3. Mine as a gloss black and I think it looks great. I can't stand the color coated rear section much. Definately a darker color. A gloss i find gives it a little more definition or you could always go with the original gray(grey) depends on what you want more.
  4. Hey Brian, I'll agree the ZX distributor is the best option. If you do get one from a junk yard the advance plate will probably be stuffed because of a plastic ball bearing cage beneath it that breaks and lets the ball bearings go everywhere. You also need to remove the dizzy shaft and clean it up so it spins nice and freely. Anyway i wouldn't say there is a huge advantage of the other distributor set up you mentioned. The best upgrade from there is to go with no distributor and have it electronically controls by coil packs. That way you can control your engine advance at certain rpm's. Go the ZX module and probably best money wise investment is the $300 reco one.
  5. true well if anyone can tell me what these items weigh and where the company is located then i might be able to find this information . I'm just hoping shipping isn't more than the actual item
  6. Yeah I'm not in a huge rush since I have other expenses at the moment but I did have the money a week or so ago and would have ordered them. It's very frustrating and it would be a simple email back at least I'd know how much money to put aside. I'm willing to wait since the price is right but if I was in a hurry certainly not!
  7. They don't come in 16" and I prefer the Watanabe design pattern. I guess I'll just have to save the $$$ for what I want .

  9. Gee $4000 for Wat's on my Z
  10. Maybe you should provide a picture as far as I know what they say is correct.
  11. On the same sorta topic anyone know where i can get new rear license plate globe plastic surrounds. You know the thing the bulbs sit in for the license plate?
  12. depends on the surface you are painting on. I think power coating would give the best results since it's an electron charge which causes it to stick. So I've read correct me as I've probably got it a bit muddled. Anyway I'd say power coating would be a much better and long lasting process.

So your saying that the L28 with all the smog gear off produced 170 odd horsepower but the NET figure was much lower when you put it all back on, than a stock 240z?

As a side note a friend of mine installed early 240z lights in a 260z and found it very simple and straight forward I think he managed to get it done in 30mins. The light bulbs will go into the 240z lights the same no mods there and you just have to cut a small section of metal in order to put the lights in. So if your worried about the tail lights it's not such a big thing to change. Personally I'd rather start with a 240z but that's just me. If you install a half cage in a 240z you get rid of alot of chassis twist and the whole car changes.
  15. Yeah i see your point of view. Different strokes for different folkes
  16. Well done it's not a small operation but it is fairly straight forward. See how good it is to do this kind of work on your car and not pay someone?
  17. I voted $800 - $900 range. I know they are better quality than most of the repo's and the chrome trim is great but I couldn't justify them for that price especially on a normal non-gnose Z. If I put a Gnose on my Z the fender flares wing mirrors and headlight covers would be a must and I would pay $800- $900 but i just don't like the headlight covers on a normal Z enough for that price. I have a friend who is looking to build replica's from a set of originals he has if they are of the same quality and lesser price i'd put them on my Z. I'm sure alot of you would also. If I did buy these however I'd probably put duck tape across them to stop them from breaking.
  18. I guess you could say I like the Wat's Minilites, & Superlites look the best. I do like some modern wheels but I like being different to all the Commodore drivers and Rotory drivers and all other car enthusiasts here in Aus. :cheeky: Should give credit to Nick H for his efforts on Big Sam.
  19. Same as Brett's Z but on a friends car his name is Nigel NR240 on this board. They look much nicer in person than in photos I think.
  20. Here is an oldie with Simmons FR17's. I do love these wheels but I see too many other cars with the same style. Forgive the 10 min Photoshop job i did it a while ago.
  21. Here is what i have. And what I want. I love Wat's.
