Limited Slip
On the topic of diffs. I can get my hands on a 4.4:1 diff but it's a locker. From the picture of what another member showed with a locker the welds seem to be unreversible. Seeing as I have little knowledge of a diff I am wondering can I use this 4.4 ratio and convert it to LSD? I have heard a locker is no good for cornering and that's no good since I love corners . But the acceleration

What defines a 240Z a classic?
I think the early 240z is a classic for several reasons. the first being it's excessive demand on release it was always a popular car and very sort after. It has a strong and successful race history meaning it was an excellent platform to make go fast not just in a straight line but around corners. The sexy looks haven't changed it was designed for an era but designed forever. A great car looks good today and tomorrow a good car looks good today. The dash I believe was the first of it's kind a trademark copied by many. The dodge Viper has a similar style. I think a classic is a car that is so good others decide to copy it. I think many of the styling cues of teh 240z have been passed on to other cars. In Australia a 240z is a rare site and 260z getting rarer and even now 280zx not so common well a good condition one anyway. So rarity also helps to make a car classic because people want what they can't have and often if they can't find it easily they can't have it easily. The fact that so many examples were butchered during the 80's early 90's doesn't help with an all original car being easily found. If they were easy to find in original condition they'd be worthless. Everyone enjoys being the first person to play with something and sometimes we just enjoy having it as a time capsule that represents an era where car manufacture was perhaps in alot of ways better. I could go on and on but at the end of the day I think a classic is what the others have said something that when you see it makes you happy or excited sometimes i get extremely excited by an old car. There is a big difference between lets say a $60k BMW with some office W@n%er showing off in compared with a throbbing exotic engine note from a car that's got gleaming paint and you know he only brings it out every so often. I just love the Z because I love the way I sit in it. I love the dashboard design the gearstick position, the long friggin bonnet and the torquey yet relatively small capacity engine. (Compared with an 8). Everytime i just get the car out and down the street I love the first feeling of the throttle and the noise my car makes it stirs something inside thats for sure. Also I too notice alot of attention from people when driving I've been asked many times about the car it starts conversation with people i usually wouldn't speak with. I get double takes all the time but I try to ignore it these days as I have to keep focused on the road not how much attention i get .

Wasn't it in the Z last time you had the accident with your pyscho ex?
-
ZG Hinges
yeah if it was in AUD i'd buy but in US forget it.

2" SU CARBS on an L28
Yeah but the difference between the E88 and N36 manifold is nothing spectacular. The big difference comes from porting them.

Looks like Mikey is Buying another 240Z!
Well it couldn't happen anywhere but Ebay could it?

Anyone like VIDEO's in the SNOW!!!!
You might need a DIVX codec if that's happening. I'm not sure what they were encoded in.

Anyone like VIDEO's in the SNOW!!!!
Looks like fun, although it seems to slow you down alot in the snow. Is it a FWD car?

Z Rush
I like how you've retained the original seats. I have been seriously thinking about fixing up the old seats but the cost of doing so is almost the same as a good set of race seats. That's looking at VB catalogue converting to AUD$ then installing them myself yikes.

trivia
Now that's an early 260z. Alan had a pic of a PS30 Vin prefix see if I can dig it up .

trivia
yep it's a fastback alright. It's a dead giveaway that the Ferrari is fake afterall it's a modern blue color and they never came out in that color and with that price tag they'd never be resprayed like that. :classic:

On the topic of Z's converted to Ferraris does anyone know what the blue GTO was in Vanilla sky I swear it was a Z from the drivers window outline. You can see it in the first 5 - 10mins of the film. It's not really worth watching the whole lot . well it wasn't actually that bad I guess.:tapemouth

Not quite! You forgot that GHLS30 only applies to the 280z 2+2 The 260z's were referred to by the factory as RS30 or RLS30 I believe at least in Australia anyway. I don't believe there was such a vin as PRS30 i think it may have been a typo. They were PS30. Unless that indicates the difference between the 432 and 432r I have forgotten if they use a different prefix or not or wheather it was a factory reference. Also the 240zg were known by the factory as HS30-H but it never appeared in the prefix just refrenced this way. What beats me is why Nissan said we will use the H prefix that they used on the 240z for the 280z Why bother? It would have been better probably not really important but better to have H mean 240z , R mean 260z, and maybe Q mean 280z for example. Ah well.

Where's the middle ground?
Well inbetween is always hard. I think I was lucky to find a good example and at the time it was a great car it still is but I notice it's imperfections. I'm a perfection artist i have to have things just so, and it will be the death of me I'll probably strip it to bare metal and go the whole hog but I started with a minimal rust example which is really good. Sure i paid more than I did with the rustier ones but it will save me more in the end. It's also good this way because while im still fairly young I might have an accident or scratch the paint or dent it so i don't mind the paint isn't perfect or the rest of the car isn't because I can always fix it. If it was like a new car to begin with I'd hit myself over putting small marks in the paint etc.. I understand your pain when it comes to modifying but look at it this way you can spend all your time making it original and never drive it but notice that in our gallery's the cars that often get the most attention are the well modified ones with nice wheels. Often non original paint and groovy interiors. i think you won't harm any value modding the car even if you bought a minter as long as you do as i do which is make sure everything you do u can undo cause if your like me then your an indecisive prick who is never sure when he makes changes . Good luck.

Quantas Airlines
Acronym Definition QANTAS Queensland And Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd. Technically a Acronym is a word formed by the initial letters of a name. If you ask me it's not a word in a true sense. So I'd say your both right. Datto_240z and Alfa. However that's according to www.dictionary.com. It didn't come up as a word so it's anyones guess. Just trying to clear the air in here. :tapemouth
