Hi, apologies for the thread resurrection. My 72 California 240z has one of these relay thingies attached too. Do you think it likely a 72 car could have this originally, or do you think it has been retrofitted? Just curious. It's not staying, same for the EGR and other emissions stuff 😀.

I meant check cloth on the central back and seat panels.

Maybe the "ears" on your gearbox have been pushed together to compensate for worn bushes at some time in the past. that seems to have been done to mine and I had to heat them and pry them apart again to get everything aligned right.

My recollection is that the high flow pump rotor is 40mm tall compared to stock 35mm.

Yes, it comes out behind the chain tensioner - I've assumed for pressuring the tensioner shoe, but it might also oil the chain.

The oil jet on the front of the block is actually a supply (from the head) to the chain tensioner, so you only need consider opening up the side one. AIUI, the jet is there to ensure adequate pressure to the bearings. The flow should be enough for a std cam. I opened the jet up on mine by 1mm I think it was, and set it to idle at 1000rpm to ensure adequate flow.

Fwiw, I converted from distributor&carbs to EFI and wasted spark for about £2200 all in. Chinese ITBs, Speeduino ECU and lots of second hand ebay bits. It was quite a lot of work though.

The carb side is the thrust side so will always get the worst of any scuffing.

It wasn't too much of a disaster, Mori san was happy to supply a single piston (and the bore cleaned up ok with the flexi hone).

A brake fluid leak from the MC into the brake booster into inlet #6 caused this a few years ago. It doesn't take much to remove the oil leading to heat leading to expansion and more heat and expansion!

No I think they're washers for mounting the glass on the sash that those arms lift. They're under these black metal washers.

I'm sure it'll be obvious once you open it up. Something simple like missing oil rings!

Have you checked the spark plugs? Might be worth a look to see if its all cylinders or not.

No, I had Two unmolested 280zx engines, one has p90a and the other has p90 and the only difference I can see is the 'a'. I don't think any UK cars had the hydraulic lifters, but plenty of p90a heads.

Not all p90a are hydraulic. Mine is not.
