Fumes are Killing me
I've had the louvers, the rear spoiler, an the exhaust tip the entire time I've owned the car. The lovuers and spoiler were on it when I purchased it and I put the exhaust on it the week I bought it. I've never had the fume problem and all three items probably contribute to that in some way. The only marks I get on the glass are from the 10 small rubber bumpers that contact the glass. They clean off rather easily. However, if I ever remove the mounts that slide under the moulding and are held in place with thin 3M attachement tape, I think those spots would also clean up but the rubber molding would probably be useless and have to be replaced.

Black Friday Sucks!
My nieghbor went out early Friday and bought himself a new LCD TV. Since he no longer needed his 'old' one, he sold it to me for 200 bucks. It's a 55" 1080 dpi HDTV w/picture in picture, etc. It's about 3 years old, like new, works fine, has all the literature and is a perfect upgrade for the much smaller TV that's in my enclosed patio. That's about as close as I ever get to the 'Black Friday' scenario. I agree w/Steve. If I can't get it on the internet or in a store before about December 10, I won't get it.

I cant get these parts apart!
I use a cheap little set that I bought from Harbor freight for 20 bucks. It's a C clamp type tool with plugs, adapters and receiving tubes. It allows you to remove and replace ball joints, tie rod ends, U-joints, brake anchor pins, etc. easily without damage. I bought mine about 15 years ago so they might cost a little more now but well worth the price.

1978 Console Removal
There should be three screws in the storage box, two at the rear and one at the front. Lift it up, unplug the ashtray light and the lights/switches below the radio opening and it should lift out.

Who was more influential?
I've seen Orlando Cabrera, the Angels shortstop, make a couple of plays like that. On one they actually completed the double play.

Today is Last Day
I cant' find a 'Youtube' of that one. But seriously, after I posted that one, I realzed that it had nothing to do with Canada. Randy Johnson actually hit a dove and was pitching for Arizona against the Giants in Arizona IIRC.

Who was more influential?
An American billionaire businessman and the principal owner of Major League Baseball's New York Yankees. However, at the end of this season his sons took over control of the baseball operations so he's no longer the boss.

Who was more influential?
Strange thing is both of their origanizations eventually concluded that they were no longer needed in the capacaity that they were most known for.

Flywheel Bolts
Even the cranks listed in the Nissan Competition catalog were 6 bolt. Could this be an aftermarket/speciality shop or some other type of custom setup? I'm curious now.:surprised

California Zs
I do believe I've seen that car at one or more of the shows out here. Nice car especially for the price. I think I've seen most of the semi-local ones on Steve's list.

Tuning without the TPS?
Throughout this thread, I've wondered if we were really discussing an AFM or a throttle body. The 240SX swap Tomohawk mentions that is more commonly done is a throttle body. I've never heard of anyone using a 240SX AFM on a 280Z. At any rate, neither one of those items, being from different vehicles, will help you pass an emissions test. I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish by steadfastly refusing (seemingly) to put the proper AFM on your car. For whatever performance gain, if any, these items will provide, it's just not worth the hassle, to me, if I have to screw with it every two years or whatever your state mandates to pass a smog check. My cars, both the Z and the 810, have the stock AFM and throttle body. They've never failed a smog check during my ownership.

My turn signals are dead.
I mentioned that in my other post and I was going to attach a picture until he said: which I didn't really get.

Triple Carb vs. Holley 4BBL Carb
He was actually talking about Mikunis but that doesn't change anything. Some of his info seems to be based on fact, i.e., what he's read but a lot of it seem to be based on opinion. Not just in this thread but others also. I don't know where that comes from but if he believes it, I guess he's entitled to.

Nice 280 fetching fair price on ebay
I'd be kind of afraid of the Megasquirt that the seller obviously hasn't dialed in yet. That coupled with the fact that many of the components that are required for the stock injection appear to be missing which would make his claim of easy swithcabailty back and forth between the two systems sound somewhat questionable.

FI connectors/wires after SU conversion
Bruce, I'm sure you meant 280 not 260. The fuel injection system in a 280 is completely separate from the other circuitry in the car so leave it connected as some have done or disconnect it. It'll work either way.

My turn signals are dead.
Try the third fuse down on the left side of the fuse box if you haven't already.

My turn signals are dead.
When you said 'dash lights, or exterior lights' were you referring to the indicators for the turn signals and the turn signals themselves? If that's the case, go back to my original post without the edit. Also, the turn signals and hazzards each have their own flasher. The one for the hazzards is harder to find but if you look under the dash, directly above the hood release lever, you'll see it.
-
My turn signals are dead.
Not likely that it's a bad flasher. It's located above the steering column just above the brake pedal but the signal for both the turn signals and the hazzards feed through the hazzard switch. Check the connection and the hazzard switch itself. Also check the connection of the two large black connectors just ahead of the console on the passenger side of the tunnel. Pull them apart and clean both sides with contact cleaner (not WD40 or the like), put them back togehter and see if that solves it. EDIT: I missed the dash lights/interior lights part. Check the fuse as Zanthus suggested. I believe that would be the top right corner 15A.

Aside from Zs, what else takes your money?
No flame suit necessary. That's a nice ride, British or otherwise. There's more to life and cars, than just Zs. Oh no, we'll probably both need a flame suit now!

Whats this part?
David is right as to what that part is but it's one of those mysterious parts that doesn't show up on the parts lists/microfiche. Nissan might still sell it but I was never able to find a part number to give them so I kept searching the junkyards until I found a good one. Use good quality hose and clamps when you do it becaue like he says it's a pain to work with and you'll want to get it right the first time.
