  1. $20k is it's reserve.
  2. What pads/shoes are you using? I have Raybestos pads/shoes on both of my cars. I have the factory shims and mine don't squeal. And I don't use the 'disc brake quiet' type stuff on mine.
  3. Welcome! I can sense your excitement! That's one of the longest sentences I've ever read.

  5. I've been using that list for quite a while. The only drawback in uning it for zed2's list is that it only covers vehicles though 1981.
  6. I'm assuming that he's talking about the 75. All you really need to do is bridge the two wires together that went to the fuel pump contact points in the AFM.
  7. What year is your 280z? If it's the 75, it would be because you no longer have the AFM hence no signal from the fuel pump contacts in the AFM once the car starts. If it's the 78, it should work providing that none of the other wiring has been changed since that signal comes from the alternator, the oil pressure switch, and the fuel pump relay .
  8. Ahh...I think zed2 already bought it:
  9. Or they'd break when some tire jockey with an overactive touch with his impact wrench tightened them. I wouldn't put wheels with that setup on any vehicle that I owned.

More than likely, the seller or some PO had them reupolstered. My 78 door panels are the same as you described yours.

My thoughts: If you are referring to the one in Port Huron, Michigan, it doesn't have factory air. I don't see the bracket for the two magnet valves on the passenger side strut tower, nor do I see a receiver/drier or any A/C lines. All of those would be visible if it had factory air. Even if it had dealer installed or aftermarket air, the receiver/drier and some part of the a/c lines should be visible and I just don't see them. Also, there's no fan shroud which is virtuallay a must have for A/C. If the car had A/C, the seller would most certainly mention that as it would be a selling point. I can see the rubber grommet right below the accelerator linkage where the lines would pass through to the evaporator. No lines however. It appears that the car has had at least some of the A/C components removed. It would have to very, very clean for me to even consider the opening bid, which no one has with less than half a day to go on the auction.
  12. I don't think those are the 'Datsun Comp' or 'Black Peral' mirrors. Real name: (Dual Racing Mirror Set-No. 99990-00113). More likely they are the plastic ones that, and maybe still are available at the auto parts stores. I don't think the design of the Datsun mirrors would allow them to bend over that far.
  13. Not sure what it is but the body doesn't look like a Datsun to me.
  14. My wife tells me that sometimes I should be more subtle.
  15. I use basically the same tool. Mine is a Craftsman ScrewOut.http://tinyurl.com/yu4kuubut I use it with the Craftsman 4.8 volt impact power driver http://tinyurl.com/yq7557 to avoid the potental overzealous use of a drill. Super glue?LOLLOLLOL
  16. Try http://www.nissanparts.cc/. That's where I purchased the shims individually.
  17. As far as I know, those brake pad shims are still available through Nissan. I bought some in early 2007. the part numbers are 41084-A0100 (Shim-RH) and 41085-A0100 (Shim-LH). You'll need 2 each and as I recall they're under two bucks each.

Don't know where you would find a refurbished 280Z factory air system. Has the system been completely removed or are some of the parts still there?
  19. It did to me (see post #4)

A/C was an option except in the 2+2 where it was standard. There were factory installed systems and dealer installed systems. The non factory A/C cars would not have the a/c controls in the control assy. The factory A/C cars used a vacuum system to operate the mode doors, etc and used a different control assy. than the non factory A/C cars. The difference between the two is shown in this post: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=242175#post242175
  21. "You get better horsepower with the stock exhaust". I did a search and couldn't find any info on a K & M supercharger.
  22. Performance Specialties. That was the name of the company back in the 70s. They had a shop in Monrovia, Ca. Those were the wheels they sold with the P/S logo and that was the name on the front of the building.
  23. Not before the car is cranking or actually running. There shouldn't be an injector pulse of any kind until the engine is spinning. I can't offer a possible cause but I think it would have to have something to do with that aftermarket ignition. I've never experienced that with a stock setup.
