  1. Does your car have the master cylinder caps with the wires for the fluid level switches? I'm only asking because looking at the wiring diagram in 77 FSM I'm seeing conflicting information as to which system it has.

  3. What about them? Those are all whiney little 'boy bands' that are performing in the present. If you like them, fine. But they have nothing to do with this thread.
  4. If you really got everything you need for $800, that's probably not a bad price. Does that include the clutch master and slave cylinders and the lines that go with them, the pedal assembly, clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, flywheel, pilot bushing, transmission mount, speedo gear, shift lever, the rubber inner and outer boots, the vinyl or leather boot that goes around the shifter and the clips that mount it to the console? There might even be a couple more things but that's what I come up with off the top of my head. Have you done the research on this swap? Things like eliminating the starter lockout etc.?

  6. If it's an early 72 type with the notched area in the combutsion chamber by the spark plug hole, it's more desirable than the later 73-74 E88. They say it flows better.
  7. Well, I'll just leave it alone at this point. I don't agree that a customized car is 'restored' or even 'stock looking' when one knows what stock looks like but I posed a question and you answered it. And for Ian, you're putting a lot of work into your car and you're enjoying it and that's what really matters. I can totally appreciate that aspect. But, don't get upset if others don't agree with the direction you're taking because, no matter what you say, you won't change their minds.
  8. I "T'd" that into my gas tank vent hose. Obviously you'd have to come up with something else on a Z. Ah, the simplicity of a 1964 vehicle.
  9. According to Russ at Nissan parts.cc it's still a valid part number. Doesn't necessarily mean it's still available but if you call him he'll place an order for it. You won't be billed unless it's actually available. I kind of doubt it based on this thread from about 5 years ago: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9936 He's found several parts for me over the years that the dealer said were NLA. Worth a try.....
  10. When I put the Weber 40DCOE and electric fuel pump on my L320 pickup, it needed a pressure regulator. I bought this one. Adjustable from 1-4 psi, inexpensive, and has worked fine with no problems for the last 10 years. http://tinyurl.com/2uwdsa

This is not to intentionally take this in another direction, though it probably will, but what is 'stock looking' or 'restored' about a Green 240Z sporting a S13 dash conversion and a SR20 Engine? People can do whatever they want to do with their cars, after all, it's theirs. Including 'gutting her for use in a crash derby'. But if I don't share the same enthusiasm for it that they do, that's okay too. Eveyone is entitled to their opinion but they are not entitled to force it on anyone. If you post something that doesn't fit the general crux of the site, and then blow up at the first sign of criticism, that's exactly what you're doing.
  12. Have you run a test to determine the actual fuel pressure? If you install a pressure regulator set to the proper setting you can at least then rule out fuel pressure as the cause of the problems you're experiencing. That might even solve them. I know from experience on the EFI cars the incorrect fuel pressure, high or low, will cause problems that mimic other non fuel related problems.
  13. Building the car is his call, it's his car. Shoving it down our throats, and you must admit Ian, that is what you are doing, will result in the kind of responses you're getting. Even the person you purchased the car from seems to have a problem with it. Part of this 'maturity' you speak of would include being bigger than reacting to what you feel is being 'hopped on'. Or even posting a thread with these phrases in your 'disclaimer'. You must have known, based on those quotes that you'd get some of the types of responses your're getting. Possibly you should give the rest of the reasons more consideration also. Now, there's a show of maturity.

  16. Not really sure if it will fit in anything earlier than a late 260Z (9/74-11/74) which is the same design as the 75-76 tank but doesn't have the internal baffling for the EFI. The earlier 8/74 and down tanks look smaller.
  17. When you put the 5 speed in your 74, which shifter did you use? The one from the 4 speed you took out or the one that came with the 5 speed? I only ask because the ZX shifter gave me problems when I tried to use it in my 78 but when I put the original shifter from the 78 in it, it worked fine.

  21. From what I've read and seen, there were no other changes after 12/74 through the end of 280Z production.

  23. I think they were made in California IIRC. I seem to recall seing the company's exibit at a car show many years ago. Whatever it's viewed as, I'll pass.
  24. Only the 81-83 ZX non turbo had flat top pistons. I know his car falls in that catagory but for clarification that not all ZXs had flat top pistons, the 79-80 had the N42 block/N47 head combo with dished pistons, and the 81-83 n/a had the F54/P79 combo with flat top pistons. The only ZX after 80 with dished pistons was the turbo, F54/P90 or P90A.
  25. Sounds like it's engaging too close to the floor and you need to adjust the pedal 'free play'. Refer to page CL-6 in the clutch section of the FSM. I'd take it back to AATCO and have them adjust it. Actually I would just adjust it myself but if I had just paid over 1100 bucks to get a clutch done, which I never would since I do my own repairs, they would be the one working on it until it was right at that price.
