  1. Just a thought on driveability...a white dash will be VERY bright with the AZ sun reflecting off of it...and right there in your line of sight while trying to drive...could be a bit dangerous. Just something to consider.
  2. That is quite interesting, I have production date 8/70 with VIN 8215
  3. I don't know the names...do you have pix or a link to pix?
  4. Just program your VCR.
  5. It seems as though cremmenga is dead set on tearing up the public streets...I see Fast and Furious 3 and he's the star! Not saying that you are a ricer, just making the analogy to your stated driving habbits. You don't think I know about long straight empty highways? Look at my screen name! I can drive 5 hours in any direction and still be in the same state! We have PLENTY of these kinds of roads. We also have tons of winding twisting ones for that type of thrill. All it takes is for one of those farmers to pull out on the road in his '64 Dodge (we all know how slow they drive) and SPLAT! There goes the Z and anyone in it. You said that you have a friend drive a couple miles ahead of you and let you know the road is clear...great now there's two people haulin' arse at 150+MPH AND talking on the phone/radio. Take a look at the trend in everyone's replies here...we only want you and others to be safe and keep this kind of driving on the track. That's all man.
  6. Chris, I'm sorry to say that 150MPH no matter where you live is still VERY fast! And very illegal ANYWHERE in the states (2-3x the speed limit). I've not been that high in any car (over 100 yes) and do not recommend it on any public road. It's just plain stupid and irresponsible. Save that for the track where it's a controlled environment and the only person you are endangering is yourself. I have been rear ended by a guy diing 120MPH and it's not a pleasant experience...I was told that by all rights I should have died in that accident! Please do not get me wrong, I love speed and my Z...I'm working on a 3.1L stroker for mine. I also intend to keep the craziness on the track and not the public roads! Do I speed? Yes. How fast? 10-15MPH over the limit on the highway only...no more; and never do I speed in school zones or neighborhoods. I know that you are still young, I was too. Think about this though, what if your child were killed by someone doing something stupid like going 150+ down a public road? Please be responsible. The Fast and The Furious was ONLY a movie!
  7. I believe that those numbers are at the rear wheel...I think that the 240Z has 170HP at the flywheel IIRC.
  8. Michael, you can also make that old URL to your site a redirect page so it automatically goes to the page's new location; may even put in a 5 second delay with some text telling the user that the page has moved and to make note of the new URL this way everyone, even those who have linked to it from elsewhere and/or bookmarked it will have the updated location. If you need assistance with this just let me know and I'll put together the html for you. And as always thank you for creating this reference!!
  9. We're pretty close!
  10. That price is quite steep! If anyone here gets it and is willing to share a scan of it in pdf format please let me know as I would be glad to host it on my site along with all the other Scarab info I have.
  11. Interesting, my experience with him was much different...but then again I never had a need to attempt contact. This may be his flaw (communication that is) and I just never came across it since I received my item in 3 days thus no need to ask about it.
  12. Beat me to it! I just saw this preview on my TiVo last night (was watching all the new season previews to see what looks good) and was going to announce this to the group. I'm interested in the catalog that the investigator holds up in the preview...never seen it before (at least that issue) and would like to know what it was. I was impressed to see that they went for the '70 model, the hatch vents were the most obvious indicator. Show premieres next week as noted above...and I'm looking forward to it! If for nothing else to see the Z.
  13. Ok, now that is the most impressive body work I've seen in a while...UGLY...but you have to admit, there was some real tallent that went into it. Then the owner goes and F's it all up with that pre-fab speaker box and half-done interior work.
  14. Maybe someone here can give this car a home...she doesn't sound all that bad. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-DATSUN-240Z-PARTS-CAR-INSIDE-STORAGE-10-YEARS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ39405QQitemZ4574100142QQrdZ1
  15. I'm still looking for pix of someone's damaged frame rail and someone's fixed/preventive method in place please. Ok, I looked but your site lists them at $40/set. I'm also curious if the set is only for one side or both (i.e. do I need two sets or one)? Do these come with installation instructions for placement etc?
  16. I thought that there were some threads that discussed this and had pix of the damage as well as the solutions to fix/prevent this (i.e. boxing in the framerail at the mounting location and running the mounting bolt all the way through from top to bottom). However, I can not locate this information and more importantly I could not find any pix! Can anyone please help?
  17. That is called autocross and is a lot of fun...many of the members here autox their Z.
  18. Not on either...but am on YIM (Yahoo IM).
  19. Maybe I'm missing the point but I think that your car may be repairable. Buy the frame rails from Charlie at Zed Findings, pick up a steering rack, cross member, and steering column (if needed) used from a Z parts source and you should be on your way.
  20. I don't know what it would cost but you may consider having the car appraised by a certified auto appraiser. Be sure to tell them that you need an appraisal based upon on the car's condition prior to the accident...show them the receipts and as previously mentioned have the appraiser add in your shop labor.
  21. OH MY GOD!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THIS HAS COME UP AGAIN! Now I'm pissed off at that seller all over again! Not like I was when this happened though, but he's still a liar and an arse in my opinion.
  22. If you haven't already try searching for this on the forum...we have discussed it many times...I myself even asked about this swap a couple years ago. You should be able to locate answers to all your questions fairly easily.
  23. texasz replied to Ed's topic in Open Chit Chat
Unbelievable job Ed!! That's a VERY nice looking Z.
  24. I'd be interested in knowing what else would bump you from Street mod to E modified since I'm doing a stroker and would prefer to stay in Street mod.
  25. Some of you have suggested a quick release steering wheel...anyone know about this little device? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7991690629&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
