Have you also got pix of those areas?

You could also toss it in a hydroblasting cabinet and clean it up that way. There's a guy in this area who has done that with good results (they really do look nice when he's done). He's just using a homemade hydroblasting cabinet, there are plenty of guides on the internet to build one.
  3. If it works like other auctions I've seen my understanding is that RW1968 placed a bid of $100,000 (or something close since I do not know the bid increments for this site) at some point before 01/20/2022 @ 6pm. Then someone came along and placed a bid of $65,000 on 01/20/2022 @ 6pm and was immediately outbid by RW1968 since his bid was higher, this happened again and again until RolenMiller came along and placed a bid on 01/23/2022 @ 9:33am that was finally more than RW1968's maximum bid thus now being the high bidder.

Here are a few places that popped up with a Google search. https://www.zeddsaver.com/collections/datsun-z-car-id-plates http://www.zzxdatsun.com/catDecals.php https://www.datsunpartz.com/search/vin-plate?cookies_currency=USD&currency=USD&dss=true&price_max=3000&price_min=&search=vin+plate&sort=name https://www.datsunspares.com/en/spare-parts/itemlist/category/3-datsun-body-plates

That is for a series 1 car and he has a 1972 (series 2). @jackmau, if you cannot find someone making this perhaps a piece of rubber or weather striping will do the trick.
  6. Pix? 🙂
  7. In the thread I posted the link to read the first section (just down to the first set of screen shots) of post #11 and pay special attention to Zed Head's post that I quoted. This is where he describes the over all drive ratio for 1st gear and the impact that has on acceleration. The lower the number the slower the acceleration, the higher the number the faster the acceleration...so depending upon the type of driving you will be doing, the type of driver you are (i.e. how you want your ride to "feel") will start to guide you to what is the right combination for you. I hope this helps answer your question.
  8. I decided on the 3.9 ration rear diff and the wide ration tranny ('77-'79). I think I mentioned that in my last post in that thread, if not I intended to and completely forgot.
  9. Found it!
  10. @muze, I just went through this exercise earlier this year and have a TON of data in the post where we discussed it. Let me look to see if I can find it for you. You may also search this site for info.
  11. Banzai Motorworks has the paint, that's where I bought mine. http://zzxdatsun.com/catRequests.php

Are these NLA from Nissan? I'd check with the local dealership.
  13. At the current price someone is going to get a great deal!! If only it were closer. 😞
  14. I've read where some have sprayed that area with POR15 to seal it up and keep it from rusting.

I remember seeing where someone (probably in this group) has unstapled one and drawn up detailed measurements.

Check Klassic Fab JDM, I believe they do (and even if you do not see it on their website contact them, I think that their site if not completely up to date with what they have available). https://kfvintagejdm.com/product-category/datsun/
  17. I'm not sure I follow. The 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, and 280ZX all had the same size flywheel and clutch (except for the 2+2 and turbo models) as I understand it.
  18. Good to know. How did you determine which one to buy?
  19. I need to buy a Clutch Throwout Release Bearing Sleeve for my build and see that there are different ones available. Do I need to match this to the transmission (using '77-'19 wide ratio 5-speed)? The clutch fork (using early 240Z clutch fork)? Or something else competely?

We used the drain plug, way faster and easier...it's there for a reason just like the one on your engine. 😉
  21. I'm with ya! I bought mine (HLS30-08215) in 2003 (I think) figuring it was a 5 year project, then the following year we had our first kid. Well I spent years collecting parts and more Z cars and never putting any work into any of them until last year (thank you COVID, and my son for encouraging me and showing an interest himself). Kids and life got in the way for a while. I'm not sure I see anything in your pix that I need or must have at the moment (or that I think I may need in the future). There's certainly stuff I could pick up and if it were cheap enough I might, though want to keep focused on getting at least one of these Zs back on the road soon. 😉

The price fluctuates a little, I paid $123 + $11 shipping and got it from jdmplanet on eBay...currently they are a few bucks more. Shipping was shockingly fast, ordered March 14, 2021 and received on March 23. https://www.ebay.com/itm/193849586296?hash=item2d2255f278:g:h9QAAOSwighZg0vC
  23. Oh....what are you inspired to do?

FWIW here's the electric fuel pump I got straight from Japan.
  25. While not in Houston I am just up the road in Austin. Post pictures of what you have...I may see something in there I "must" have. 😉
