  1. I glass bead blasted it then went back over it with semi-gloss suspension black, Eastwood product, then over that with a high heat clear satin Eastwood product as well. I had bought those products for my steering rack and other bits and pieces as well. Motor mounts, oil pan and tension rods to name some off the top of my head. Oh yeah, transmission crossmember and other suspension parts. The Diamond Clear I coated all my blasted aluminium pieces and shot the valve cover too bring the semi-gloss sheen down to a matte finish. Turns out to be a heat resistant matte black. Their Diamond clear doesn't yellow like other rattle cans. I bought a gravity fed cup HVLP gun from Harbor Freight for $20 or $30 bucks. Keep it really clean and it still works like new at 13 to 15 psi. Happy, happy. Joy, joy! Most definitively use moisture separators, big one on my 80 gallon vertical compressor. Small one on the gun itself.
  2. Bond for all should be part of the registration fees. They'd catapult me over Trump's wall, pendahos.
  3. Clamp off the return line a little bit more at a time. Adjust the clutch pedal, it worked for me on my 240. It slipped so bad I could hardly back up the driveway then after adjusting I could chirp the tires. It's measurements are in the FSM.
  4. I'll check in the morning but those Hewes boxes have stainless steel 35mm reels in them.
  5. Sorry be such a pain, it's not for me, but a square exhaust gasket should work over the round exhaust n47 head with injector notches? A SU gasket for the 240s would work on a n47 head? Thank you Steve, I can pass that on without worrying about "alternative facts".
  6. I hope it's things work out like you're shooting for. Does a square exhaust seal off on the mn47? Not to long ago someone was wanting to put carbs on a n47 and I wondered out loud if the intake gasket with the EFI notches would work. Hopefully he can read this and decide.
  7. Mr Purcell I had a the same color combo as your 240 but recently sold it. I remember a conversation about the correct rocker stripes and since then have found some for a good price. I can't remember if you already had your's or not but here's the link. http://stripegarage.com/collections/datsun-240z-260z-280z/products/datsun-240-z-triple-stripe-vinyl-decal?variant=14729170374
  8. Thank you Dennis! I've used up all my "Like this" for the day, again. I hope a fellow Z owner will be interested in it all, I tend to help out my peers.
  9. I'm sorry for not mentioning that was a year old picture. I've got over 1,000 miles on it now and it's just now "loosening up". I believe like Matt does, get a strong reliable motor 1st and all the small stuff is actually fun doing, drinking beer makes it fun for me.
  10. I can't remember if y'all are using a ground down cam but if you are do you know about the shorter valve seals fro Fel-Pro? Anything more than .460 needs these if I recall correctly. It's discussed in this thread about OE seals squashing down. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/68120-problem-with-viton-valve-seals/
  11. Looks great! I can definitely see the cross hatch now. Keep on marching... Here's mine after the machine shop.
  12. Here's what I have. Tired as hell so they are quick pics. Let me know and I'll gladly get more detailed shots, model numbers etc. 90% is brand new and I have a couple of stacks of 8x10 sheet film.
  13. A clear bag? That was his Halloween mask.
  14. But we'd have you!
  15. I have about 4 throw away cameras from the late 90s I used during Mardi Gras over the years. I'm scared to get them developed, I'm sure they are full of nude pictures of the drunk girls we had around us. The small town I live in, the only developers wouldn't give them to me and say I need to go to church.
  16. When the guy told me he was leaving it all and I should sale it I told him I don't know anyone that owns a 35mm camera, we all have cameras in our pockets.
  17. So he's the guy you say we'd probably get in some trouble together in Austin? Can't wait.
  18. That is hilarious! Thanks for starting my Saturday off with a good belly laugh, glad I'd already swallowed my coffee. I've never heard that one but will retell it many times I'm sure. Yes those have "focuser" on the boxes, brand new still in bubble wrap. One's about a foot tall, the other about half as tall. Y'all got me excited over this stuff, can't wait to post pictures of all I have. focus bouf
  19. An aluminum flywheel would make up for the crank weight. I love my 2.4's quick rev with my exhaust system. Once you get used to the light flywheel you would really like it, I know I do. Another thing on my 240 is the low gears in the differential, seems quicker than my 280's R200. After I put a 5 speed in it's a blast to drive. Almost like a motorcycle without the dieing aspect when you ride bikes. I made it this far in life so no more motorcycles for me.
  20. As soon as can I'll line it all up and take some digital pictures and list the model numbers. Thanks for the information. Cliff
  21. I agree completely, it's the "heart" of the car in my opinion too. Looks great judging by the photos and the parts you guys are using. I know you've done your homework.
  22. I predict an L motor in your future. You can't help but love these motors.
  23. Thanks for the info. Those are high dollar, high quality rings from what I read when I was researching mine. I bought Hasting chrome, molly rings for mine. My machinist said that's what Nissan used.
  24. Wow! A woman scorned... That's aNother lesson for me, if you can fly it, float it or **** it, always pay by the hour.
  25. Mine is the e-core and made in the USA. Arne reccomended it in an older thread I read and it has worked out good for me. The amazon reviews said if the packaging was oily that someone had returned it most likely and they resold it so if I got an oily coil to send it back immediately. Fortunately mine as nice and dry. Thank you Chickenman for your positive replay! I'd hoped I made a good purchase. 8^)
