  1. Hi Vin 00127, first of all I would like to say welcome to the site glad to here you are intending to save another one of the 69 build 240Z. As you are probably aware most questions can be answered by someone on the this forum, the knowledge level of the members is sometimes amazing. It will be fantastic to see your pictures, I am sure they will generate some discussion. Do you know much of the history of your Z, did you manage to save any of the documentation ( delivery information and such). Does your Z have the data plate / original engine fitted. I hope you have great success with your Restoration, good luck. cheers Steve :classic:
  2. I got to agree with Zedrally. The only things electrical in that side of the engine bay washer motor, engine bay lamp and either a Hitachi or Mitsubishi voltage regulator. I went right through the electrical section of the AUS parts catalogue Zip for Bosch and no possibles, starting system relays are more the GM Ford thing me thinks. cheers Steve :classic:
  3. This all sounds great. I wish you guys the best of luck running it up. If you need anything from me just let me know. If I end up posted to Melbourne at any time, I will be sticking my hand up to be a part of the group. cheers Steve :classic:
  4. Hi Zaka, I know Erskin Park well, I used to live in penrith when Zeds where new. Hope you managed to talk the guy down. I got to agree with Mr Camouflage be very carefull about the rust. There are lots of Zeds around you, and they do come up for sale, so be sure it is good. Cant wit to see some photos when you get it home. good luck. Steve:classic:
  5. zaka, hi, welcome to the site, people here will be able to help with virtually any questions you may have. Does the body number start off HS30- or S30- or even RS30-, hopefully it is the first one. telling you it is an export right hand drive 240z. do you have a compliance plate fitted. if so it was delivered at the date on it in AUS. If you can tell me things like body number and engine number on the manufacturers data plate I should be able to tell you the age. are you really in SYDNEY area or outside in the country, I am up near Newcastle and if your close enough maybe I could help you to check it over sometimes it may save you or at least let you know what you getting into. let us know cheers Steve
  6. Justin, good to hear you got some action from the base police. Did they give you a name (first name, surname)as if so you can send your own email and save time. cheers Steve
  7. Hi Justin, well like I said it is a derelict, all doors are unlocked the bonnet was on the latch tree matter is settling in bad places it has a flat off side rear tyre and a major ding in the off side front guard. the ignition loom is hanging from the column. Some interior is hanging or detached. Upside major chrome and badges, all there including both bumper bars and overiders. 5 Speed factory mags White external, black interior. no aircon did not look for rust as such looked minimal, few dings in the rails. has towbar. 12/75 compliance. rego plate 387 BPC. compliance numbers and engine match manufacturers plate and body. as far as ownership The onlyway is to ask the airforce police to contact the owner as he should be on base, or make an offer to remove the wreck free of charge. If you can tell me any production details on the cars you have mentioned that would be great, I suggest send me a private message. I will send you a private message on this Z to give you an idea. cheers Steve :classic:
  8. Hi Alan, You got me, I am with 77. This is my second year with them as a blackhander," what could possibly go wrong". cheers Steve :classic:
  9. Hi all, just got home from sunny Townsville FNQ Australia what a place pristine beaches great facilities and plenty of cold bear. My Sqn has been doing a bombing camp from the Townsville Airforce Base for the last three weeks, FA18 Hornets everywhere. To the important stuff, I found another two Zeds for the register both 1975 build 260Z's a two seater rally car and a 2+2 complete but derelict. Amazing found them in one day in what is called a Z desert. The rally car ( Seam Welded + Cage) was in great condition and used regularly for local events, including the Mount Stewart hill climb event last weekend appears to be using the L26 engine for performance work. The 2+2 was a derelict on the airforce base in one of the domestic area car parks, very sad complete with minor damage sitting under a tree ( matching numbers). I have entered all of the details for both of these Zed's into the register so the pool of information is still growing. If you have any information on RH Drive S30 Zed's for the register please PM me with the details and I will enter them. cheers Steve :classic:
  10. hey guys not all those old flap type units are analogue compatible, if it is +85 production it would be digital compatable so happy hunting. Note the digital VAF has less pins in the loom connector and can configure to your needs. good luck Steve:classic:
  11. An airline with a great safety record. Some say they are the luckiest airline still flying. They do a superb job even with the executive management team they suffer. I take my hat off to those that work for QANTAS as management is really trying to screw thier employes with individual contracts and reduced pay rate. A quick way to oblivion for a second line operator with a first class reputation. now I climb down from my soap box. cheers Steve :classic:
  12. As you can see in the parts manual extract these items are optional to any given market. What intrigues me is the fact that on the ground here AUS and obviously NZ as well we have all of the diffrent variations delivered and visible. I agree with the theory that HS30- Zeds with front position repeaters here are most probably from diverted shipments. cheers Steve:classic:
  13. NTH EASTERN VICTORIA Ovens valley, in thru Wang is, highly recommended if you are touring in a Zed the roads will invigerate under the correct operating regime, especialy up around Bright and Mount Beauty as you elevate up on to the northen side of the main range Via the OMEO Road, the scenery all around is spectacular at any time of the year. Zeds thrive under these conditions. YACKANDANDA, BEACHWORTH MYRTLEFORD and THE KYWA VALLEY HYDRO, and along list of snow peaks are a bonus. WARNING some roads do not suit show paint jobs and Town suspension. Some vehicle handling annomillies may appear on the secondary roads "apply more power and grab another good handfull opposite lock" My2c Steve:classic:
  14. 260freak, Welcome to the site, I think you should be able get answers to any questions you may have, everyone here is always very helpfull. To your resto sounds like you have set yourself a good taskand I wish you the best of luck. Is there any chance you could help me please. I am after the production data for the 260z's you have, such as the body serial number, the data plate engine number the date of production, certification or first registration of your 260z even the compliance plate data if you have one. I am in the process of trying to build a register for all the right hand drive export Z's. So I ask the same question to a lot of people. I have about 200 serials in the register so far. As an idea this is one of my Zed's below; HS30 export 240Z RH Australian delivered CAPITOL MOTORS PARRAMATTA RD SYDNEY NSW. HS30-102660 L24173261 RED/ Bone Interior Manual 06/73 M Australia NSW SYD One variable is M for manufacture C for certification (ADR) R for first registration. At this stage I am not sure how this will go so please either reply to the thread or PM me the details. If you need my email address that can also be provided on request. Thanks for your input cheers Steve:classic:
  15. dogma420 Now thats inpressive, no way you can call that Z anything but 110 Red, the new AVTAR is a great promotion of the colour code. cheers Steve:classic:
  16. It appears that both front and rear side marker and flasher repeaters are options to the base model export HS30-, and they run from the first Zed to the last with production changes Jun/Jul 72 for a bulb intensity from 8W to 10W. So if a batch was optioned up on the production line at any time they would have been dispersed all over. It also appears that Zeds bound for Europe had flasher lamp repeaters on the front guard available right through, but I would question it for the late 73 with bumper mounted indicators. as for marker lamps for Europe they where also optional front and back through the whole of production. In Australia I must say after seeing Shane's cars here at Newcastle 10+ he has Australian delivered early zeds that confirm not all changes to front guards where retro, The option thing and the Europe build spec explains also why we have a large number of 71 build zeds with front flashers. Think about this how many times have you seen a zed with side flashers on the guard and the comment always was "oh its had a shunt and he got 260 guards" maybe not. We got lucky and have captured all the production info for these Zeds in NZ and it is in the register, with many thanks to kyteler still no joy chasing the exact colour for the air filter housing on my part Nick. cheers Steve:classic:
  17. As far as front guard lights go I think what you see in the picture, is probably the most common. I have a late 71 with C pillar vents and even it was delivered with front Guard Lights. The rare one are the front and rear guard lights on an export right hand drive, not sure when they dropped guard indicator lights for Australia delivery I will check( probably 72). Cheers Steve:classic:
  18. The Zed you are talking about (what a great paint job) could very well have been delivered in Australia or anywhere else with those indicators in the guards because of the early build. Some Zeds in that series where delivered to Australia with both front and rear guard lights, just like the HLS version for the states. my 2c Steve:classic:
  19. 110 red is one of those colours that can change depending on available light. For my Z to look like the AVTAR for dogma420 I would need exteeme bright sun light and a distance view. To look like the Z picture of mperdue I would think last light maybe ten minutes to sundown or the sun disappearing behind a huge storm cloud. The truth is this colour can vary so much under changing light conditions and sun age damage that any slight mix rate variation would tip the scale away from the standard. I would say that both probably qualify as 110 red just oppisite ends of the mix spectrum. my 2c 110red/beige 73 steve:classic:
  20. kyteler, Sounds like you have got yourself a bargain. You did say 14X6. I can't wait to see the pictures of the Watanabes on your car. Hope the deal goes well. cheers Steve :classic:
  21. zorro, I must say there are a number of us who really appreciate late 73 build 240Z. Faults, sorry I am always full of superlatives after a qiuck blast in mine, only fault is the rate at which the tank will empty when fun is being had. From where you are sitting a 69 build car is still posible but you will have a lot of competition from others out there. Nissan only advise that HS30- build production started in Oct 69 from build Number HS30-00003 but non was released in Australia to the public until early 1970 due to a shortage of engines and other production line issues. HS30-00501 was released Jan 1971, so I would suggest that most of what you can possibly find will be 1970 build with serials below HS30-00501. I do have access to some local Australian and O/S delivered serials covering some of this group, and the compliance details, so if you need any help in this area, PM me and I will see if I can date what ever you find. I think the number of suvivors is probably less than 20 in the early category. cheers Steve Cheers Steve :classic: :classic: :classic:
  22. Z Kid, very nice Chris, love those flares. Did you get a set of long throw bonnet hinges to suit the new panels. Did you get a bumper to suit. Can you get more thru the same route. cheers Steve :classic:
  23. DJACEY(UK), I hope you still have some of the parts still fitted. You know the original accelerator arm from the pedal to the firewall and the brackets at the top. maybe even the lever frame (base). For your installation maybe someone from the states can help as it is HLS build configuration and thier maybe some subtle diffrences. I dont have any spares for this particular system as I have not seen any out of a car that I could buy. Good luck sourcing the parts. To another intrigue, what five speed did you fit does it have a bolted flange to bolt the tail shaft too, or does the tail shaft slip in and out of the gearbox on a splined yoke. cheers Steve :classic:
  24. DJACEY(UK), It all depends which 5 speed gearbox you have fitted. A 1970 A series 5 speed gearbox will match perfectly to an early console in a 1970 Zed. If you have 1972 240z then you would need to run a B series (late series) 5 speed gearbox and a 72 or later console. Mixing the two, is tricky as I believe the shift lever are centered diffrently, so the console match may be difficult. I am interested in your Z, you say it is a 1970 240z, what you have is pretty rare in the UK, is it a left hand drive import or a special import from ?. Is thier any chance, could you tell me more about your Z, the body number, engine number and colour scheme from the factory the numbers should be on the data plate in the engine bay please tell me any other information that may be interesting about it. You can send this information by private message if that is more acceptable. I may be able to help further if I can narrow down the exact age and body style, LH should start HLS30- and RH drive should start HS30- or S30- if it is a home market model. cheers Steve:classic:
  25. The GTX hard top with L28s has a water cooled oil cooler and offset filter attachment it came in either hard top or sedan in manual only with an R200 diff. and as far as I am aware is not listed for L24E,(looks like another retro Fitt). Cheers Steve:classic:
