Hints on removing stuck locknut on tie rod ends
My saying at work is "tuition". When we mess something up, break something or learn the hard way we call that "tuition" ie. the cost of learning...

differerential ID
Open it up and see if it is an LSD or not. It also might have a small metal tag on it calling that out...

Good diamond core bit should eat rebar without an issue but it is slower than casting in place

D Wheel Covers - Cost of Restoration?
A thought for the future, in lieu of blasting them some rust away, Eastwood Rust remover or something similar will remove all the rust but not remove good metal. A little slower but less chance of warpage or holes...

Hate spotwelds?
Yes I believe they are carbide and they have very thin sharp points at the ends of the flutes. Cut great but easily damaged

Replacement Inner Rocker Panels
Thanks, Those numbers are similar to what I have seen too, and many of those are pretty well beat up. Yours looks pretty straight all things considered. You could also use a rust remover from Eastwood which will not remove any good metal, since the panel isn't really very thick anyway...

Hate spotwelds?
Blair is evidently one of the biggest companies in the spot weld tool market. I have used their spot weld cutters but they are very brittle because they are very hard. It is important to keep the bit really square to the work. If not it will chip and be toast. This tool isn't the end all but should be usable on most welds. It will be a little while before I have a need for it I believe. We'll see...

master cylinder check list
cliff, I think he is asking what is the logic to sealing one side of the plate to the master cylinder and not sealing it to the booster? I don't have a theory...

Door skins
What is the issue with the old skin? How did you remove it? I believe all of the skins are the same, the internals are different and the door strikes are different I believe...

Manifold and choke question
I suspect the little electric pump is kept in check by the filter's pressure regulator. If the engine isn't consuming enough fuel it is basically "dead headed" but probably isn't much of an issue on a lower pressure pump. It would be on a higher rated pump though... rossiz beat me to it...

Replacement Inner Rocker Panels
@EhlersRS If I may, what did a used splash pan run you? For Iowa the condition isn't too bad. A little rusty on the inside near the back but no obvious really rotten areas

Hate spotwelds?
Yes, I believe it is but the collar is what helps apply pressure and keep it square. There are a lot of areas where you would have to make access or do it freehand. I don't have a need for it currently but I was just surfing around and found this one with a lot of extra bits. They retail for $300-400 which is too much for my limited use. I found this one for like $175 or something. So I got a new toy, I mean tool!

240z Greenville SC
Spotted an orange or off red 240z on Hwy 296 headed towards Woodruff Rd in Greenville, SC on Thursday about 10:30AM. Is that anyone from the forum? Looked pretty good. I haven't seen one on the road around here in a long time, including my own...

Hate spotwelds?
I recently aquired this because I hate spot welds and I thought it might help out. I found this one at a great deal on Ebay. We will see... Air powered and has a rear lever for applying pressure. Adjustable depth, so you can just drill through the top layer(s)

Thinking about installing an BMW M6 engine in my Z
I would think the welded patch and the brazed patch were two different repairs. I agree a little reinforcement is in order before the rotisserie! Looked like a number of patches under the drivers seat too...
