  1. If you look closely at the picture showing the center console and radio area, you'll see that there is NO radio in his "perfect interior", just the dial face plate, no buttons or knobs. Also, the center console looks a little wonky. Dennis
  2. That's a popular way to gain rear tire clearance with Porsche 914s. It bends the fender lip snug against the inside of the fender quite nicely and adds about 3/4 of an inch of extra space. Dennis
  3. I think the closing statement by the owner as he does his test drive with the windows rolled down at the end of the show sums it up nicely. "I love the smell. I'm sure it's not good for me.". Dennis
  4. A few years ago, someone on this forum or on Hybridz was printing out replacement rings on a 3D printer. Never heard how they fit or held up. Dennis
  5. Interesting to see the list of dealer "add-ons" that jacked the price nicely. Goes to show how hot sales were for the Z in those days. Pay over sticker price, pay for dealer add-on items, or go on a waiting list to get a bare bones model. I was one of the "pay over sticker price" buyers in 1971. Dennis
  6. Of course. Drivers want to dress up their entries in the East African Safari Rally. And what better way than to add a matched set of off road use only, scratched, non-OEM, as-is, no rust, 1970 Datsun Z hubcaps? I wonder if the seller has a release from liability form for buyers to sign in case of injury. Dennis
  7. Interestingly, the ad states that they are for "off road use only" and that he's not responsible for any injuries as a result of use. I would hope potential buyers are smart enough to realize they're dealing with a wonky seller and avoid. Dennis
  8. I'm guessing that if Nissan went after nicoclub, they'll also be sending cease & desist notices to all the other download sites one by one. Download them while you can! Dennis
  9. Can I hear an Amen, Brothers & Sisters? Dennis
  10. Well, not exactly. A Google search turned up bunches of paper copies as well as downloads. Here's one to get before Nissan slams them shut. https://diyservicemanuals.com/nissan-pathfinder-service-repair-manuals/ Dennis
  11. The bottom line is that nicoclub posted Nissan's intellectual property (factory manuals) and offered free access. That violates copyright laws. Nissan isn't the bad guy in this. I've managed a Porsche club for years and know that I have to get permission from Porsche for things I post - factory photos, illustrations from manuals, even the word Porsche on a web site URL. Generally manufacturers and publications will give permission to print excerpts. They do take exception when it comes to copying and giving away an entire publication that cost thousands of dollars to create and still has the ability to generate revenue to the copyright owner. Having once received a " STOP" letter from a photographer as the result of reprinting a vintage advertisement in a club newsletter and another time receiving a "Here's what Hell we can rain down on you" letter from Porsche's US legal firm, I can say that I totally understand where Nissan is coming from and how right they are. Dennis
  12. What was the gap on the currently installed plugs? Dennis
  13. Don't give up on chanting Ed Zachary. Works for me on this thread. As for help from my wife, I'm sure she'd be willing to sell you some answers to the IQ and personality test questions. You're on your own with block design, however. In the meanwhile, if you don't think "Ed Zachary" is helping, try repeating "2016 Erection". Dennis
  14. Be strong. Just close your eyes and say, "Ed Zachary" ten times to yourself and you'll feel better. Dennis
  15. According to the FSM, fuel pressure can be in the range of 3.41 to 4.27 psi. More, or less, will cause less than optimal operation. Your pressure seems to be within range. Fuel capacity is another issue. Use a big glass bottle, or a gas can, as the catch basin when you disconnect the fuel line. Delivery should be 1600 cc (3 3/8 quarts) per minute (static test). Dennis
  16. Haven't seen that picture with the load sensors under the tires before. I'm guessing Nissan has a larger wind tunnel now. But it's interesting to see "state of the art" 1971. I've been in Porsche's previous Weissach wind tunnel and it was much larger. I think the new one is even bigger - good for everything from bicycles to vehicles larger than cars. Dennis
  17. Congrats on the long term relationship! There must be some very good memories and stories to reflect upon. My Z and I celebrate our 47th in November. Dennis
  18. No, common sense would dictate that such an event is NOT normal. Otherwise, the highways would be littered with cars by the side of the road and race cars would never finish a race. Cause? Loose hose clamp, defective hose clamp, improperly installed hose and clamp, Act of God. Dennis
  19. Calculated risk. The various test cities were part of the "proof of concept" program which was put in place to learn what could go right and what could go wrong. Everyone was aware that there could/would be fatalities due to pedestrian and vehicle accidents. Uber must have had to provide a huge insurance policy. I wonder how difficult it will be to get states and cities to host the tests now. Dennis
  20. It was part of a test to see what could go wrong, after all. I'm sure Uber will have a lot of data to review after the lawsuit. As for driving in the Philippines, I did that for a year and a half and mostly had to dodge pigs, chickens, and guys with guns. Dennis
  21. You've been trying to adjust a modified engine to stock factory settings. That can be like trying to fit a size 12 foot into a size 10 shoe. The process of tuning the engine/carbs results in adjustments to settings to a point where it runs best. Sounds like you're finally just about there. Button that baby up and head out on the highway! Dennis
  22. There's a nice one on Amazon for less than $80. I may have to look into getting one of those, myself. My 45 year old non-digital dwell tachometer is probably a bit out of calibration at this point. Any brand recommendations? Dennis
  23. All part of the "growing pains" of any emerging technology. As they used to say in the early days of passenger flight back when flight attendants also had to be Registered nurses, "If God wanted us to fly, we woudda been born with boarding passes.".
  24. It would be interesting to look through 100 year old newspapers to see if the same type of conversations occurred when cars started replacing horse & buggy transportation. I guess we got through that in about a 25 year transition period. Dennis
  25. And that's why later ads had the black center spokes painted over grey closer to original rather than the black as first shown on eBay and CL? Sorry, not buying his new sincerity. Did he happen to say anything about refunding his customers? Dennis
