  1. Sorry OJ......We're referring to an L which is inline with 6 cylinders. You won't find any advocates of a V8 in a Z in my circles. Beautiful car.......keep the hood down and don't fire it up!:bulb:
  2. Sorry Tomohawk........I should have clarified......I mean an L28 installed in a 240Z. You can't tell them apart without reading the numbers on the block.
  3. I disagree........a non L series engine doesn't exclude an L28 .....neither does a non Z engine. An L28 is a Nissan engine so A Non Nissan Engine doesn't apply. You are reading into what agrees with how you want it to read. IMHO
  4. I didn't see a response that said any engine change......
  5. Z Therapy sells SU oil. If you have a doubt, use it. However, I used 3 in 1 oil for years with absolutely no problem.....you're just looking for enough viscosity to keep the piston from rising too fast. Jiggy bits don't wear out :stupid: ....and there are no more "0"rings in the bottom of the SU reservoir than in the bottom of a beer mug!
  6. Bruce......I love it when you get pissed off! Nyuck...Nyuck...Nyuck!!!
  7. Thanks Bruce for putting that to rest. Since it's only function is to damp the rise of the piston, I couldn't imagine why there would be an "0" ring involved with the resevoir.
  8. Very nice......Let us know if you run at VIR.......would love to meet you.
  9. Very cool Chuck.......you're serious about those little guys!
  10. Pulled the engine and auto tranny today.........Zedy did it in his tube socks.....I did it in flip flops.
  11. I've never used a Roadster tranny on a Z before. It must be the same dimensions as the Z.
  12. You will need a 280z clutch collar to go with your 280z clutch if that's not what you are currently running. Everything else should be the same including the throw out bearing.
  13. Having been lucky enough to have made the right choice to purchase a Z in 1970 after seeing John Morton burn up the track at Road Atlanta, I can perfectly attest to the fact that not long after the introduction, people's attention was more appealingly focused on the slightly modified cars that made you think you WERE John Morton. Acceptable mods in the Atlanta market were American dish wheels, Minilite mags or the four spoke Americans libre's........ front and rear BRE spoilers, Mullholland lowering springs, 2 1/2 inch exhaust with a Corvair turbo-charged muffler. When one of these slightly properly altered cars passed you on I 85, it made your heart pump. Skinny wheels and a car that sat high off the road (with smog pumps still installed) didn't do it for me........stock class Z's are pretty......but to fully enjoy my Z's you need that little extra!
  14. You ought to kick yourself Carl......but you know she's got a good home.Everything is cleaning up almost like new. I started compounding under the hood......amazing.....it looks like new. It'll still take $12,000.00 to $15,000.00 to get her perfect, but having absolutely no rust let's you start from the 45 yard line.
  15. :laugh:Silver is a beautiful color on a Z...........it's much easier to keep the original color. If you're going to take the time to complete the job as mentioned above..... go for it. Otherwise save time and money keeping it original. Go find a white car to add to the silver car and impress the wife.
  16. More progress.....the radiator was boiled out, repainted, then Banzai stickers were applied. The digital camera is great for getting wires reconnected as they should be. Bye, bye auto shifter. I'm really liking this color......
  17. I screw something up on almost every engine I build...........
  18. When they ground the cam, did they put the plug in the rear of the cam?
  19. Why not try to put Redatt (or whatever his name is) out of business! Sorry to hear of your misfortunes.......good luck.
  20. New stuff for the new Z.......
  21. I like Borla mufflers..........not too loud, but a nice throaty sound.
  22. If you have a bent valve in a cylinder, it'll probably read "0".
  23. You have bent some valves. If the car runs at higher rpm's but dies under say....2500 rpm, it is an indication that you have several bent valves. Run a compression check to confirm this.
  24. Absolutely......a poll is a poll.....obviously most on this forum don't like motors other than the L series in a Z car.......at least according to Will's poll. We're not arguing with what others like.....just telling you what we like!
  25. Zedy.....You're engine is absolutely beautiful!
