Checked my timing today with a new timing light that shows RPM. 10 deg at 800 RPM, 35 deg at 2500 RPM. Seems like my mechanical and vacuum advance are working are designed.
  2. Not all shops or technicians created equal ! the shop that I bought the tires mounted, balanced and aligned the wheels/tires, were decent. At lease I was happy for a year until I took the new mag wheels to swapped out the tires and balanced on the new wheels. needless to say, same shop, different technician have different results. Reason I went for this same shop because Costco do not carry the tires size of the stock rims, 14”. I took the car to Costco for balance. The technician was cautious as he didn’t want to mess up the “classic” car as there’s no place to jack up the car. I had to convince him the location where he can put the lifters in. However, he still hesitated and the manager need to approve. Manager didn’t want it either and insist to lift the car at the frame rails… fortunately, I did reenforce the frame rails so I ageed. Low and behold, 90 minutes pass and it’s done. Drove the car home, though short distance and NO VIBRATION at all. I will have to do more driving tomorrow to confirm the result, but so far I'm happy with the result. stay tune folks
  3. Though I’m not that old… but this generation is so confused! 🙂 well, nothing beat a morning cruise where there’s practically no traffic on freeway… and that’s a rare sight in Southern California. Did a 40 miles varying from 60-80mph and boy, so glad there’s no more unwanted massage vibrating feeling in the car. Was really smooth. Kudos to the Costco team. They really did a great job and I’ve never spent this little money at Costco with such pleasant. Go Costco! I think we can put this thread to rest. Thanks everyone for guidance and keep up my rants .
  4. They rarely go bad just filing the contacts to shine again and making sure there's no spider webs in there. I had to bend the arm on mine when I first bought my '77 after reading this great write up with a lot of good photos. Thanks @240260280 https://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/tps/index.html

So we had to rework the end of the oil galleys. The holes we had drilled and tapped weren't big enough for a 3/8 plug. So I found a 9/16 bit; it called for 27/64 and we drilled them again and tapped them. You have to drill them and tap them pretty deep so the plug will go in flush. You can see one of the feed holes in the threading. the plug doesn't actually go in that far. We measured for clearance.
  6. Do you know what they call the guy who graduates last in his medical class? Doctor... 😉 No offense to conedoger 🙂
  7. No ethanol free gas less than an hour away. I am considering making a run, even if only for test purposes.
  8. Maybe you can open it up and look what's wrong with it? I never looked in one but i always say: it's ALL repairable! haha, but against how high cost i don't know.. Put some pics of the inside here.. (Maybe it's just dirt stopping it from functioning..) It has only 3 contact, so it's just a switch between 2 positions, maybe the contacts are bad, in need of a clean?
  9. There is a little black box on the throttle axle marked with:A22-602-421 , it's a switch.. it tells the "ecu" if the throttle is opened or not..
  10. Thanks, I have a car dolly that gets the car up pretty high and allows me to roll the tub around. I have a two post lift in the shop if I really need it up in the air. I just dont have the room for a rotisserie. I am maxed out on space and I have a car stored at my sons house, that is overstaying its welcome :). I have been researching the undercoating. From reading and what I found on my car, I am going to use a "undercoating" underneath, then spray body color over it.
  11. I wondered the same thing...I thought maybe the engine is getting tired but he said he's willing to let the buyer ride in the car before it's pulled. He'd probably allow for a compression check I bet. Not a bad price if it's all good. Perhaps he's going V8 or RB or something and wants to change out the body parts too while he's at it?
  12. It looks like there is a bit of differences regarding N/A and turbo cams, at least for aftermarket applications. By the way, I'm a huge fan of the stash
  13. Picked up my vapor honing blast box today. Had some time to try out a few parts. Not too bad. I think I am going to like it. I have made a good bit of progress over the last few weeks. I will post up some pictures tomorrow.
