  1. Thanks guys. I'll hit them with a little heat and try an impact driver. I haven't really put a lot of grunt into them yet because I was worried about fighting thread lock. Keep you posted! And in the meantime... Here's some catch-up pics. This was my experience popping that troublesome front expansion plug. I made this little adapter contraption for my slide hammer: Carefully drilled (making sure I did not drill too deep) and tapped a hole into the expansion plug to accept the adapter: Thread on the slide hammer and with a couple taps, out pops the plug: Don't know if it would work on all attempts, but so far, I'm batting 1000 at two for two.
  2. Nissan too, maybe. Your local Nissan dealer. http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/engine-280z/piston-crankshaft/21 https://www.courtesyparts.com/oem-parts/nissan-bolt-flywheel-1231542l11
  3. Thanks Cliff! But i think the problem will be adressed.. Today i got a mail and i sended one back with measurements and the adress of this thread! I also said sorry for my short fused behaviour.. Here are the pic's that, to me, explain why they don't fit.. The 16-17 inches should be around 20-22 inches somewhere.. I'm not going to measure it the difference is clear… Yesterday i came at my car and discovered that there was a dent in my brand new hood.. someone careless left the vacuumcleaner under the car and the lift was not on lock.. it went down slowly and hit the handlebar of the vacuumcleaner.. grrr… more work.... ?
  4. Well, those of you looking for interesting updates are going to be disappointed. I have been working on the passenger door for a couple weeks. It is finally straight and true. Well at least the middle and top sections! The bottom edge is next. This truly is a glacial process...
  5. ea6 is right, I believe. And PAtcon is right about the flame arrestor but it's in the valve cover hose. That silver PV hose is pretty big in diameter. Just stick a screwdriver in there and dig out the crud. And yes, they came in silver. you removed original paint.
  6. If it were mine I would try plugging both ends with some simple green, or something that wont eat at the rubber, inside and let it soak. May have to repeat a couple times but maybe it'll loosen it up enough to dig it all out?
  7. Doesn't say anything about the ZX but they're on sale. https://zcardepot.com/products/flywheel-bolt-set-oem-240z-260z-280z-510?_pos=1&_sid=4c961959d&_ss=r
  8. Cliff, thanks for the pics. That pan is the ZX pan in your pics. You can tell bey the shape of the pickup opening. Its more curved than the Z. See my pics of the two side by side above. The fit seems fine. Didn’t feel it hitting anything and didn’t require any force to get the pan to sit flush. I don’t think it will be a problem. At least I hope, I’ve spend few hours removing rust and grime on that pan and put a fresh coat of POR-15 on it . Looks like new. Also did the harmonic balancer while I had all the stuff out. 9. I've heard the belief that silver paint is special because it's conductive. Haven't done a lot of research though, but "I read it on the internet".
  10. Are you sure you didn't just imagine it?
  11. I checked figment and all goes together fine. The back opening is about and inch further on the ZX. I can’t see inside to verify but I think it will be okay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. So I've been slowly working on the two F54 blocks here and I've got a question, The two Phillips screws that hold the PCV vent baffle screen into the block... Mine aren't coming out easy and I'm wondering if they used thread lock on them. Anyone who has taken those out have trouble with them? Last thing I want to do is snap one of those off in a newly painted block @GGRIII 's in front and mine in the back: We used different paints on our blocks. I like mine better.
  13. Look at some of these from ACC on ebay. Some are from different companies but have the same part number. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=acc+carpet&selvel=Year%3A1979%2CMake%3ADatsun%2CModel%3A280ZX%2CTrim%3A2%2B2%20Coupe%202-Door%2CSubmodel%3A2%2B2%2CEngine%3A2.8L%202753CC%20l6%20GAS%20SOHC%20Naturally%20Aspirated%2CEngine - Liter_Display%3A2.8L&selcontext=productType%3ACAR_AND_TRUCK%2CpartType%3APARTS%2CqueryType%3ABY_VEHICLE
  14. Spent a good part of the day today working on the inner part of the driver rocker area. Started cutting to see how far the cancer went. The "middle" panel (there is an inner, middle and outer) needed replacement sections. I spent some time making sections to piece together: I put a few tacks to hold the new panels to each other, but didn't start welding it to the car yet. I clamped it in place and moved on to making a rocker end cap: Fit of the rocker end cap is "getting there": This piece has some compound curves, but I will section it a bit to try for the best fit possible. Before I start welding these pieces in place, I will use the sand blaster to remove the surface rust.
