  1. Took the Z back apart last year to re-align the body panels. Finished putting the front sheet metal, lights, bumper, and original BRE front spook on today. Installed nutserts in the valance this time for ease of trailering, also installed the JDM grill I picked up on Yahoo Japan recently. I had to modify the mounting points, but overall it was an easy upgrade.
  2. Just my opinion, but saying you won't need the money Next month (7 days form now) is not much of a carrot to a potential buyer, especially at 10K. Some of us have an odd sort of humor, me included, and I didn't see that comment as rude at all. This isn't Facebook and most the folks on this forum are very well educated with the history, mechanics and iterations of the S30. In fact, some are kind of famous for it. This is the best place to come when you have questions and need help about your Z. We could more than likely guide you if you wanted to finish the project. So please don't be so quick to snap back and we'll all get along just fine.
  3. Here's a good source for information on everything Z for a car like yours. From a reputable guy so I've heard. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/. ?

New metal on the Z barn/car storage area that my buddy Ross has. He got leftover metal panels from the local roofing mfgr. for patching. Note the Datsun/BRE tribute. The barn is 250' long. Upper level is filled with treasures.
  5. Blue started on the first crank! But I forgot to install Throttle return springs so it raced quite quickly with an amazing front fire blast of flame. It seemed angry. Off to the hardware store to get springs.
  6. This week I also got out to the BCZR 3rd Thursday Meet. We had a great turnout, over a dozen S30's made it.
  7. If Charles brings her down for ZCON, I might be able to put her in as a judge for the People's Choice show.
  8. I concur. Much nicer! btw I have an air cleaner to match your old bumper:
  9. I'm declaring success! Here are my before and after pics. I've had the painted bumpers on for 7 years so it's going to be an adjustment to now seeing a bright finish. Overall, the fitment went very well. The arc on the center section is a perfect match with the rear valance. The body mount on the left end was welded a bit rearward but the bracket was easily adjusted. Here are significant things to note: The threaded fittings are all M10-1.5, a more coarse thread than OE. New bolts and nuts are required. The threaded fittings all have paint on them, need to cleaned and chased with tap and die. The carriage bolt kit does not contain lock washers. I'll give the vendor some feedback on that. Next up is installing my JDM front bumper to complete the transition to "Oh, Shiney"!
  10. Stock Hitachi Needle Valve Assembly: To set the preliminary fuel level, blow in the inlet and rotate the float. Adjust the tab by bending so that the valve shuts (can't blow) when the float beam is parallel to the lid.
  11. Just fitted SU's to my 77 280z. Figure 1. Some notes: 1. The 77 shepherd's hook rod fits the early SU balance tube with no modifications (See Figure 2). The later SU balance tube has the connection point closer to the firewall so the shepherd's hook rod may need to be shortened. 2. The firewall rotation point on the 280z is closer to the drivers side by 21.5mm. For the rod to align properly with the SU manifold, it needs to be moved inboard by 21.5mm (See Figure 3). After carefully using a dowel to find the new rotation point on the firewall and drilling a hole for the bracket, I noticed the bracket has a third hole in the middle. By using this hole, you can attach the bracket to the firewall (using one of the original holes) in a near perfect location. A second hole can then be drilled through the firewall to attach the bracket securely. A nut-sert needs to be used for the new bolt hole as the firewall is thin....or a nut can be attached on the back (if you remove the dash and heater assembly). Figure 2. Figure 3.
  12. You won't need the money in 7 days.
  13. Sure, no problem. How many of the 32,992 forum members could possibly be interested? Since I'm sure there are at least 30 or 40 tire kickers on the forum and the temperature in Palm Springs is going to be well over 100º every day this week, some ground rules. Anyone planning a Best Offer bid and wanting me to look at the Z should: 1. Contact the seller 2. Get seller's name, phone #, address, and times available for viewing 3. PM me with the information to check my availability for contacting seller and looking at the Z Dennis
  14. Springs installed. Just ran it for 20min. Timing, coolant, oil all working fine. The only problem is that the key does not crank the starter. I'll have to look around. I used a Facet pump rated 3.5 to 4psi. Rear carb began to overflow so I connected a Mr Gasket fuel pressure regulator and of course it leaked.... made in China. I'll have to get a real FPR. I'd like to install a mechanical pump but the head would need the pump port drilled open, not an "on-the-car" job. I'll get back at it tomorrow. Drain tank, change oil etc. The road to Atlanta.....
  15. Get him to pull a steep grade, mountain. Do they have mountains in Panama? That's how I discovered my low levels. Ran fine on the streets around here but Alabama's highest point, Mt Cheaha, stalled it out only running off the back carb.
  16. IF they are exact reproductions of the originals you depicted in your photo above, count me in for 1, and possibly 2, sets.
  17. Google "oil can dent fix". Don't turn your body-work into sculpting.
  18. Here the final stages
  19. Please tell Shelley thanks for me, I always appreciate a second opinion. Now I just have to figure a way to get Shelley as a judge at any show I enter.

We had heavy, heavy, rain last night still nice and dry. My garage this AM was 79% hummidty, and the tent was only 56%.
  22. Hell Fire - he’s got my AFM too ! Also get a preprogrammed MS Cliff. Though looking at all I have to do to get this 77 to run again- SU’s look easier , but it’s not my car. And I don’t ever see me going back with carbs again . Though this swap is a lot easier then going EFI on a carb only head :0
  23. Must be my lucky month. I get a 77 delivered to my house on Father’s Day and Chris is doing a thread on a 77!! saves me a lot searching because it will be covered quite well right here. I wont jack your thread but might make comparisons with my 9/76 . I’ll start my own thread since you’ve given me incentive . Funny that the car is the same color too.

We have the same OCD. Obsessive COUCH disorder. I go to great lengths to stay in the a/c but then get up in my attic and go through storage containers instead of bringing them down. I think I'm just nuts, plain and simple.
  25. Are those the early 4 screws? They look like it. Probably the best thing I have done was putting two same length rear lids on my '72 3 screws since I could no longer buy the longer front valve. No washer stacking BS anymore.

Yes the big ones do. This one is made for small bathroom size rooms 150sqft or less. It has a little tank that slides in the bottom. I should probably put my big one out there, but I may put one of my extra WiFi cameras in there and not even half to move off the couch to check!
  27. I like shiny too! Goes good with the brake light strip.
  28. Finally got my car off the jack stands and out of the garage last weekend. Here are a couple of pics from my first drive of 2018.
  29. Picked up the wiring harness poster from the printer today,
