  1. No Prob....it's always good to have a little diversion. Got the luggage straps in and rear panel installed. The interior is pretty much done except for those two little hatch plugs (should be on their way here from Banzai Motorworks). Took one more pic of the car in my garage. It is starting to hit me that the car will be leaving soon. It actually makes me a bit sad. I often walk out into the garage just to look at it. At this point I just have a few parts that I am waiting on but those should be in soon and quick to install. Then a few little adjustments; the brakes squeak and the carbs need some minor tuning and then she is ready to go. Hard to believe that it is just about complete. It has been quite a journey.
  2. Search the archives. This topic has been beaten to death! I did a quick search and came up with this from Wick Humble's; "How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car", page 174: Ditzler Duracryl DDL 2862 Argent with quite a lot of suede additive. The specific formula is: 1 pint DDL 200 units DX265 300 units DX264 Thin 100-150% and spray on fairly dry. Regulate air pressure to the high side. Swirl paint around in the cup constantly to help keep texture additives in suspension. Maintain spray gun distance and overlap coverage on the final coat, or variations in surface texture may be unacceptable. This paint should NOT have gloss, so don't expect any. I am of the school that Nissan did not make different colors for the grill, wheel covers, and tail finisher. They all match. I call the color "anthracite" which is a darker gun-metal grey. Others seem to think the grey should be lighter / more silver grey. Best of luck!

Sounds like my motivation, it comes and goes.
  4. All clothing should be cotton while welding. NO plastic based fabrics while welding. The plastic based stuff will melt to your skin and pull whats left of your skin off with it with it. I've been known to weld with sandals on and have the scars to prove it. Not smart! Eastwood also makes a good MIG135 that is on sale often for less than $300. I have one, no complaints about it.

Thanks Cliff. I was going to do the repair today and can't find my pinion seal and o-ring! Must have hid it from myself, been known to do that. I mean I've searched everywhere and twice. Oh well. I ordered them thru zcardepot again. I was really feeling motivated to do it today too.

Hey Cliff, I found the thread where you and I talked about the pinion seals and top hat gasket. Going to try and find time today to replace the o-ring, seal, and top hat. See where that gets me on the leak. Hopefully I can get the new top hat gasket on the end of the speedo cable without damaging it. I'll smear a little gear oil on it and hope for the best.
  7. New in box. Paid $1200ish

I think I found something at Lowe's that worked. Let me find my thread and see, prolly tomorrow though. I drove to Gulf shores and turned in a bid today, then drove back home. 10 hours! I'm working on my nerves now. I'll fall into the bed soon.
  9. I bet I've copied and pasted @CanTechZ method 20 times since he first shared that. Thank You CanTechZ! You've helped a lot of folks out with that information. Cliff
  10. Here is my puller. I bought it from some one many years ago. He was making them for forum members. Might have been on Hybrid Z The all thread is 1" hardened rod. With a bearing to help with friction I haven't found one I couldn't pull yet. Even the ones I just separated that have been sitting outside for the last six years. I use wrenches to turn it so if it gets too difficult I fall back to heat and penetrating oils. I could see pulling the end off one being possible with this tool Mitchell, Let me know if you need a loaner
  11. This is a very good suggestion. Also be sure you have another alert person as a fire watch for the top side. Take the seat out and some wet towels if it comes to that... Don't use my son!!! Who didn't notice the smoke at all! I was like, "Where's that smoke coming from???? " "What smoke?" Torched the wiring harness because he was zoning out!
  12. I did exactly what @siteunseen mentioned above. It looks great and is the closest I have seen to the original. Although, I did use the 'Bulldog Spray adhesion before the paint coat.
  13. so, are you going to finish, or what?
  14. If no one comes up with a loaner, I noticed that Zcar Depot has added a spindle-pin puller to their catalog. Look under 'Tools'. No CZCC member reviews that I've seen yet, so all bets are off as to how good it is.
