  1. So the purists may not like this, but I wanted something unique. The bare lines are for brake fluid, the red lines are for fuel and the black line is vapour return. This was a huge pain in the butt to get lines bent and shaped just right. Flaring was a cinch (thanks Chris!) but the heavy lines were a chore. Just the engine bay, clutch and front brakes to make up and then the lines are complete.

I got the cam cover finished up today. Sanded the nicks and rough sand marks out of the logo first. Some nicks were too deep to fix. Gives it character. Then got it painted with VHT wrinkle black and then cleaned off the logo and border. shined them back up and sealed the bare metal with Shark Hide. I'm happy with it and think it'll look great on my car. Would like to have another one.
  3. I know it looks like I am going gangbusters on this project, but I am still probably two summers away from a running chassis. It's more about the large amount of outstanding parts i need to purchase still. Brakes should be ordered this month along with other Arizona Z Car goodies. Hopefully, the Techno Toy parts can be ordered shortly after that. That's about $10,000 right there. I still need the power steering system and the air conditioning units at about another $4000. Dash restoration and gauge customization another $1000, interior restoration and parts another $3000, body work and paint another $3000, wheels and tires another $2000, glass, trim, hoses, grommets, and oh! Wait! What about the motor!!? Fuel injection computer replacement, engine rebuild and parts....$? If money were no object it could be done in a year. Keep in mind I am a one man show that serves in the military. I'm usually gone at least 4 months of the year on training etc. I'm a patient man I guess...
  4. 1. acetone will not dissolve or loosen rust. it is mostly for thinning-cleaning paints and epoxy's etc. muratic acid will clean the rust. 2. redkote needs about 5-6 days to cure, depending on the temperature. if you can smell it, it isnt cured. 3-4 days doesnt seem long enough 3. did you clean out all the lines coming out of the tank? did you blow air through them after doing the redkote? they may be plugged worse now
  5. You already painted and cleared the bottom of the car; the purists can go kick rocks Looks great!!
  6. You've gone to a whole new level, Mark. Looks fantastic!

One of the loose pieces to look for.
  8. My inner troublemaker can't resist posting this picture. I remember having this conversation before and can't remember where it ended up. I could go look at my car to see how I did mine, since I have also looked at old crusty apparently factory-installed bushings and made a determination. The rubber in the drawing also doesn't have the rounded look of the replacement bushings. I really don't know what's right or wrong, and the driver probably can't tell anyway, I'd think. I think the groove is there to allow the bushing to flex without side-loading the rod end, and it comes in to play either way. I'll just leave the picture from FA chapter, to ponder.
  9. It is actuated when the AC compressor is engaged to increase the idle speed. This compensates for the load the compressor causes. Good luck with your vacuum line troubleshooting.
