Guess what she told me just last night, she doesn't miss her Miata any more...
  2. The Precision door seal in my friends 240z driver side is falling apart. What is a good proven option to replace it with? Thanks!

That's what she said!!! Giggity!! Couldn't resist.

Ahh, the Bavaria is long gone but we have 5 other BMW's taking up space around here
  5. Love CLR, very versatile stuff.
  6. Pictures of the Hyundai side marker lights are posted at: One picture shows a marker temporarily installed to show almost flush fit. As with most Zs, mine has been a never ending work in progress........ for the last 45 years. When I got the Hyundai lenses, my plan was to use them. I have since picked up a set of Datsun markers with clear lenses and colored bulbs that I'll probably eventually use after new paint. Sorry for the picture and partial install quality, but it's a hot day in the desert and I didn't spend as much time getting the perfect shot as I could have a couple months ago. Dennis
  7. I'm trying right now (folding arms and blinking)...... Did it work? (Wiggling nose)...... How about now?
  8. Sorry, I should of mentioned it, dome. thank for the reply btw, nice car!
  9. Exactly what I have Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  10. CO noticed the bumper rubber and the hood vents, signs of 1977. My comment was about the major changes in the body parts from 76 to 77, but confimring what CO noted. For example, if you buy 1976 door parts for your car they probably won't fit. Many other parts aren't' the same either. You probably looked at the stamp on the door jamb, that had a 1976 year on it. But that's the build date, not the model year. Nissan, and most car makers, start building their model years ~6 months ahead of the actual model year. Anyway, your car is probably a 1977 280Z. What does the title show? We're not trolling, just steering...
  11. So I tied off the hose I have in an attempt to reduce pressure and it purred like a kitten for about 2 mins untill it flooded the float bowls again. Going to replace the pump with a lower pressure pump, and will post the results. Thank you gentlemen.
  12. Ok so first, I will try to open up the float bowls, check the float bowls, and clean up the needle valve with carb cleaner. Gonna grab my fuel pressure guage from work and test the fuel PSI after the regulator.
  13. You can put a fuel regulator down stream to get you out of the water but if it ever fails you could have fire risk.
  14. My Z had this issue, what I did was open the float bowl, remove the needle, take it apart and clean, and put back together. You might need a gasket if the old one is old. Try blowing air through the gas inlet, while lifting the float up to see if it's able to seal correctly. After you have this all done, turn the page to the service manual and get a base tune. Might be worthwhile to grab a carb tune. I thought mine was good, but my front was around 13 mmHg while the rear was probably around 7, I had the impression it was running good until I got my hands on the tool, and got them both on an idle around 12, now it's running like butter. Good luck, ask good questions, read and reread.
  15. Welcome aboard! Let me help you out by making your car one year newer. Poof!! It's now a 77, not a 76. My work here is done.
  16. Sounds like the fuel pump pressure is too high or the needle valves in the fuel bowls are no closing. Check to see what kind of pump is installed on the car. Carbs only need 3 to 4 psi. If you have just the stock pump then take the fuel bowls apart and get the needle valves to work.
  17. Well I am dragging my posterior on getting a Z web site going but the domain is 240260280.com thus the branding change
  18. My power windows install is quite similar to yours. I considered the Spal unit (definitely one of the best) but decided to go with a kit from Italian maker Colibri because of the sturdy design of the belt drive and a shallow profile. It came with illuminated switches (red, I would have preferred white) which I mounted between the shifter and the ash tray. The speed is very much like yours, and very quiet. You can see the power door locks in the pics as well.
  19. I think that munters was right there and with a few more rifle shots would have solved it. My shotgun blasts just hit a lot of things. If you write enough words some of them are bound to be right. I do feel good when a problem gets solved though. And I get to practice my words on the internet. Thanks for the kudos.
  20. Maybe best to pm 240260280. He's kinda gotten away from Blue, the color of his 280. Should have gone by "burgundy painted blue". @240260280 All my love Mr Pilgrim.
  21. That's what kills us guys restoring up here! The shipping cost plus exchange on all the parts we need! It's way cheaper to buy one like yours than to build one of our own. If this would have been an option (buying your car) instead of restoring the basket case I bought, no contest. I'm lucky you're not close because it would be a seriously difficult time deciding whether to finish this car or buy yours. I hope it goes to a good home.
  22. I've read their website claims now. It does sound impressive and better than the Vintage Air stuff I've installed. Would like to know the cooling capacity so you can propertly compare with Vintage air's. In this case, size does matter.
  23. If weren't for Zed Head and a few others on here I would've thrown in the towel years ago. People that enjoy helping others are what keeps these cars on the road.

I was working out of town early on when we were married and Shelley's BMW Bavaria sprung a radiator leak. I coached her through it from out of town and told her where to take it. They wanted to know who took it out for her. She said she did it. I am not sure they believed her. She reinstalled it and burped it. Texans are tough...

In my case, there was never that much $ around. BUT makes me wonder just where the priorities were? Again in my case, he was much admired in his own eyes. You know the "me first" attitude. I lived thru that, and his getting a Lotus Elan when he totaled our VW. The final revenge for me was when I got the '71 Z, that he had been drooling over. Doing it with no financial assist from anyone, while raising his son alone. Doing well for myself I think. Mu ha ha ha... P.S. He never did get a Z. Snarf!

Oh wow, that is super nice!!! I never had a hubby buy me anything that nice, a bicycle once tho. I'm sure she is thrilled. Does going to Zcon have anything to do with it? What a GREAT trip that will be. Take lots of photos, and share here for sure. Jai
  27. Jeff, Here is how it fit on my friend's 71 at the same point. The Precision rubber kit was used. It fit tight so I had to tape it to keep from pulling off.
