  1. Exactly. I got a similar 3-4 boxes! Maybe what we need is a trading thread where I can trade some of my box contents for some of your box contents! The contents just can't be identical, can they? Maybe a thread where you just list what you have. Not a for sale thread, but a list of what you have surplus, and what you'd rather have?
  2. I have 3-4 boxes full of Z stuff that I haul to our Z club swapmeet twice a year, all of it in very good condition but I generally haul it all back and put it up on the shelves again along with all the extra Z stuff I just purchased at the swapmeet. Can't sell it, can't stop buying it.
  3. @jfa.series1 Jim, The level of detail you have put into your car is truly inspiring. I hope i can see your car in a show sometime when I am home on leave. Clay
  4. I think I'll check myself into a rehab facility after I get mine cranked. A 30 day r&r would be great and my ins. will pay.

Okay, so I was not able to work it out with the seller. The best I could get was an offer for a refund but not on the return shipping, so I guess I'll keep it and try to fix it. The first head came from Asbet Nercissian, aka Pioneer556, in CA. It's been reposted on eBay for even more than he wanted the first time, which is just nuts. The second head that I'm keeping came from Frankie Williams, aka Zperformanceracing, in NC. Looking like $200 to get it to be as described, so it will cost what the first one did in the end. Still on financial budget. But I do have some good news: I got the block paint from Mike!
  6. I agree with Jonathan and from recent experience I can add another thought. I rebuilt my 2.4 then it sat for about 9 months on an engine stand. The thought of new rings on the newly honed cylinder walls got me thinking about turning the motor over without the rings being seated. The walls have very fine ridges that should be worn down to match the rings during break-in, not turning the motor with a ratchet and socket. They'll also get a slight bit of flash rust My $.02

only details i have to offer: it's legal in seattle now.
  8. you may want to consider getting some stainless steel carriage bolts, nuts and washers (i think 5/16, but better check) and in 1 min. on the polish wheel they'll match the chrome beautifully and you won't wind up w/the typical rust around these fasteners. chrome bumper bolts just never seem to hold up - once you torque 'em the chrome cracks/flakes and they all rust much quicker than the bumper. also, consider cleaning the back/inside surface of the bumpers and spraying in a coat of good black epoxy paint. the bumpers always seem to rust out from the back, probably because they hold moisture/dirt at the rougher interior surface. i had a beautiful new futofab front bumper that got dinged after a few months on the car and when i replaced it i noticed slight surface rust starting at the back side. mine is a dd and i do drive year round in the seattle rain. just a couple tips to keep it looking sharp for years to come.
  9. In my opinion, if your intention is to store the L24, I wouldn't do a thing to it other than keep it oiled, rotate / turn it occasionally, and store it in a dry place. In other words, I wouldn't refresh / restore it and then box it up and let it sit. This will allow the next owner, or another version of you in a few years, to have the ultimate in flexibility regarding what they do with the original engine. Enjoy.
  10. Let me see if I can describe how I worked around this. I have Classic Z car on my favorites bar in IE10. I logged in one day and selected the unread content button. A little further down there are some buttons that let you filter content. Under Content to display you can check all but the blogs button. If you don't display the blogs Bender won't show up. Once I have filtered the way I want I added it to my favorites bar. Whenever I come back it displays the content with those preferences. Also I just go down the list and right click on the bullet or balloon beside the thread title and open them in a new tab. I open 15 or so at once. While the last ones load I can start reading the first ones. No having to go back and forth. Once I read one I just close that tab. HTH
  11. I will predict ..... $24,461.18 A week from Saturday will be exciting to watch, that's when the serious bidding happens.
  12. No your not psdenno. I would like to avoid them also. I glance at a few but most of them are a waste. As far as I can figure they are not his, but maybe he is the middleman. Some are originated from Zcardepot, but most are different individuals from all over Ebay. Something I noticed is after you have clicked on and want return click to more unread content on classiczcars you are frozen in that window so you have to close that window and open a new window for our site. Pain in the butt. Mike made Bender's a blog site not in the unread content and it worked fine but after a few days; Bender was back with a vengeance. I don't mind companies posting sales on here because I've purchased plenty from our vendors; I don't mind regulars posting ebay car sales or Craiglistings; but Bender is more like a virus, a contaminent to this site. Mike, limit him to one commercial ad entry per day. Save us from this insanity, Mike!
  13. Hello all, ba follow up on the stub axel thread repair. I tried the file repair and touch up for the damaged threads and got nowhere. it was probly me or my crummy file. So I went on ebay and for $10.95 delivered to my door I got a 20mm thread repair die. it came in 3days and it took all of 10 minutes to dd both stub axels. Best $ spent and a real time saving and anti frustration device. Sometimes just having the right tool pays for itself in one use and in this case it was a bargain. On to the next task.
