Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?

Featured Replies

The problem was always there with far 311 cam which is still have in my deposit and with all the parts that i mentioned. Camaro mechanic argued that with the MSD blaster 2 coil car could run better. We need to track this with the car at idle.

Your best bet although costly would be to ship the car to “Eiji” at Datsun Spirit in Manassas Virginia and your issues will be resolved. What ever it takes it will be fixed. Done deal

Thats not a reasonable alternative. I need to tackle this heat related traffic issue ASAP. Mechanic and i tested the car today and definitely we need to have better spark and move more air to avoid stumbling. Any recommendations on better spark plug cables for pertronix ignitor module with msd blaster 2 coil other than my old ngk blue cables? Taylor?? The problem is clearly at idle during traffic.

Other than my last suggestion, Personally I think you’re throwing money away continuing in the same path. You asked my opinion and at this point it’s all I have to offer. Wish you the best of luck.

I suggested changing out the pertronix about 50 posts ago...

It's not wires, probably not plugs at this point. Maybe try to find a hotter ignition...

Hi Jalex. I had an overheating problem while sitting in traffic with my 240 before I had the radiator recored with a larger core. Before the rad fix, I found that shutting down the engine instead of letting it idle and build heat was a good temporary fix.

Pertronix 1761 to which one?

Swapping pertronix with which brand of forum?

Buy a cheap electronic distributor and a compatible coil. As hot as it will handle

Or

Buy a 123 programmable distributor & coil

Or

Buy a coil on plug setup with wasted spark.

Lots of options...

After a pertronix failure left me stranded. I wouldn't have another

What is your idle AFR (hot) ?

At idle when temp reaches 3/4 it starts decreasing from 900 to 700 rpm. Up and down. One this is idling in my garage another thing is stop and go traffic with ac on for 15 to 20 mins under the sun.

What is the afr reading?
