I am refering to the inner control arm bushings which support the control arm by the differential mount and the rear support brace. The inner metal sleeve which slides into the bushings is longer than the bushing for both sides of the control arm. Is this normal? The sleeve for the stock bushing is flush with the face of the bushing. The large nut will contact the sleeve and there will be about a 1/16-in. gap between the bushing face and the nut.

Has anyone purchased a reman steering rack for a 240 lately and if so can you describe your experience (include the name of the company and any issues or insights)? I can get the inner and outer tie rods for just under $300. or get a whole reman rack for the same price. If the racks are junk then I'm wasting time and money.

Nissan no longer stocks or has any inner tie rods for 240s and you can only get one side from the aftermarket suppliers. Where do I get the other side? The other option is to buy a complete rack but a search reveals that many are no better than the 30 year old ones they would replace. I did read where someone installed both (left?) sides but that meant that the threads on one of the inner tie rods would spin in the direction of wheel travel. I assume this is not a good idea. This is the time of year I start ordering parts for repair and upgrades, so any assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance......

My steering wheel will shimmy around 45 mph, which causes the whole front end to shake. I had an alignment done a while ago when my dad bent my engine crossmember, and the mechanic who did the alignment said I needed to replace either the tie rod ends or the ball joints to remove the shake, but I can't remember which one it is. I did a search, and found some people had the same problem, and new ball joints fixed the issue. If I replace the ball joints, will I need to have the front end realigned? Thanks!

I have heard from people ont his site that koni struts require "extensive modification" to work on a 240z. I have never heard anyone explain what this means? Summit racing now sells Koni adjustables for the 240z. I ahve seen web sites claiming little difficulty in doing this upgrade. Can someone explain this to me? I'm just curious.

I don't know what to say, I just put the car down on the road and I was surprized that the car looks like a boat! it was really too high in the front and lowered at the back which is normal as I guess.. here are the new stuff I have under the car: 1-brand new ST springs. 2-new KYB gas shocks. 3-new control arm bushings. my friend told me that with gas struts it is normal to lift the car so much in the firs few days and then it'll drop a little with time.. I was totally sure of placing the front springs in the front which have 9 turns and the rear have 8 turns! please don't tell me that I'm wrong!:dead: I suspect a nother thing, when I tightened the control arm bush…

Just a heads up for those of you who want to drop your 280Z 1" and keep a decent ride MSA has the Eibach 280Z spring kits. I know I have seen it mentioned the Eibach's weren't available for the 280Z anymore. Sal says they bought what was left of Eibach's supply. MSA pricing is good too. Per Blue's chart the front springs are linear & only the rears are progressive. The rates are very similar for all the different brands. I bought Tokico HP's to run with these springs as well. Per the chart below. Eibach from Nissan Motorsports or Motorsports Auto 183 lbs/in front, 154/212 lbs/in rear "progressive rate") I consulted with Katman & Sal. Both think this setup will…

I've searched and searched and haven't quite gotten an answer to my question, so I'll have to ask.. I've got coilovers for my Z, but I haven't mounted them yet. I was originally planning on using the stock strut insulators, but after doing som research, I found out that I can lower my car some more if I use camber plates (EMI etc) I must add I haven't sectioned my struts. Now I also have the Cusco Type OS strut-bars, and my question is (sorry all the chit-chat); Can I use my strut-bars with the camber plates? If not, why not? And have I understood correct; the camberplates just attach straight to the chassis? So it's metal-to-metal? That's okay? Doesn't that make a lot o…

I'm replacing the fasteners on my rear suspension and notice that there are some slight differences in some of the part no.'s quoted on the microfiche e.g. there are 2 types of M10 washers - 08915-44010 & 08915-54010 and 2 types of M10 nut - 08911-14010 & 08911-24010. Is the difference with respect to the thicknesses ?
