need advise on spring/strut combos!

I want to upgrade my ancient performance spring strut package in my 71. I like the price of the Tockico spring/strut combo that is being sold on EBAY.

But I have heard folks on this forum say the Tockico springs are progressive rate and maybe not the best for performance. I will be driving on backroads only, no autocross, but want good performance vs. smooth ride.

I imagined the tockico package would be a good route because the pair were designed for each other.

I have heard the Suspension Techniques are a good chice for springs. Would they be a good match for tockicos, wither the regular or adjutable Illuminas?

Finally my old springs are yellow, I think they are suspension techniques anyway, but I beleive they are pretty old. You think I need to change them out to begin with.

I just went with the Illumina kit (progressive springs). It's still being installed...Dang spindle pins. I thought about other combinations, but this seemed like a reasonable setup for street/autox.

You don't need to pull the spindle pins to install springs/struts. Bushings, yes, springs/struts no.

This is about as aggressive as I've seen on stock spring perches. Go to coilovers and you can get pretty much any rate you want.

Arizona Zcar heavy duty springs are not progressive and they are 180 lbs in front and 200 lbs in the rear. I have them and love them and they are $200 for the set of 4. They are a good match for the Tokico HP's or Illumina's.

I've got all KONI adjustables on my beautiful Z and I am one very satisfied customer :D

When I'm around town and want a little more softer ride, I pull the little white KONI knob out of my glove box and crank them down 3 clicks to "Soft" and before I hit the freeway or twisty county roads, I crank them all back up to "Firm" Usually the second click works great. The third is meant for Hard core Auto Xing LOL

I've got ST springs and Tokico struts (non-adjustable) They give a nice firm ride around the place, but there is still a bit of bodyroll happening with a fat front sway bar (22-24mm can't remember) and no rear bar.

But if you hit a rough patch of road that's been rutted by trucks and patched potholes and such, it really shakes the car.
