Hey mates Since the temps are over 100 here in the desert I figured this weekend would be the perfect time to replace the u joints on the half shafts (axle shafts). I spent most today getting the U joints out of the axle shafts. Before putting the new ones on I ran into the dreaded "while I'm here" moments and inspected the boots. While they aren't in the worse shape both seem to have small tears in them. Replacing these requires disassembly of the axles, which I went ahead and did. Does anyone have an recommendations on what type of grease to use on the inside of the axle shafts? The FSM doesn't really define it in a meaningful way other than multipurpose. Would plain…

So, doing my struts on my series 1 car, and figured I would replace the lower control arm bushings, ball joints, etc....... Everything seem to be going well until I tried to take off the passenger side control arm bolt. The nut came right off, but the bolt is seized to the inner part of the bushing. I have pounded on it with the nut on it, soaked it, air impact wrench forward and backward, for the past couple of days. Thinking I might need to get the sawmill out..... Any other suggestions? I have replacement bolts, not sure I want to use a torch on it. I can move the control arm up and down, and the head of the bolt moves with the control arm. An…

Has anyone tried the 2" lowering springs from Z Car Depot? Haven't been able to find any reviews for this product, but was considering the product for the additional 1" drop for my 280z since I will be taking the bumpers off later this year. https://zcardepot.com/products/coil-spring-set-stock-and-lowered-240z-260z-280z?variant=21397321449585¤cy=USD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google+shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjwqJ_1BRBZEiwAv73uwHJmvt2Fqij6TJ1LuWyun2gwVYBJrjdV7AgPyqEAad1in6ueJQ8-YxoCiPMQAvD_BwE

Hi Guys! Have been looking for a way to give back to this amazing community and was doing research on replacement spring/strut options. Figured I would share out my research since this landscape has changed over the years. This will cover currently available drop-in struts and springs. If you are looking for Coilover Kits, see @AlbatrossCafe's fantastic post here. Please feel free to post options that I have missed or additional data points you want to see. Disclaimer: I will be updating this over the next couple days, so there will be some "To Be Determined (TBD)" placeholders until I can fill it in. Strut Options Brand Model…

Has anyone installed the front and rear strut tower brace bars (not sway bars)? I'm curious if this really changes much besides aesthetics.

Tackling the rear suspension components on this resurrection project. Best suggestions for removing the struts out of the housings. I have been spraying all the parts with Blaster, using a breaker bar with a cheater pipe, and a little heat if needed in the tear down of the rear suspension. So far so good but no luck on the struts seized into the housings. Pipe wrench and cheater bar did not do anything to break the corrosion and I am not too excited about applying any heat around the struts. Any advice from other rusty Z experts? Also wondering about the springs. They look fine but rusty and over 40 years old. Clean and paint or buy new? Thanks in advance for any…

Greetings - When trimming down the rear transverse link bushings (sanding on a flat surface) does anyone have any particular recommendations on what grade(s) of sandpaper to use? I don't see how using the all thread method to spread apart the arm would actually work to get it back together without bending the arm too far out of compliance to get the spindle pin back in. Also, for anyone battling the clean up on the "Formula 5" poly grease, Tub o Towels cleans your hands right up, and cleans EVERYTHING off of the bushings and parts with no problems. Highly recommended. Thank you in advance. Regards, lbpdz

Good Morning, a new issue showed it ugly face after I installed new wheels. When from 15x7 to 15x8 and now R/F tire rubs bumper when turning left. I have read that nissan designed R/F caster to lead a little , but this is too much. Can this be adjusted? Also noticed that left front wheels poke is more that right side by 8mm. Any suggestions? Has anyone adjusted subframe for this reason. No frame damage is apparent

I’m about to start my power steering install and looking over the wiring. One of the wires needs to be connected to the engine RPM (blue wire). I’m assuming this can be tapped into the back of the tach gauge, is this correct? I checked the wiring diagrams on the 260z and it looks like the blue wire from the harness, which is the red/black on the gauge itself. Before I start, just wanted to confirm. If anyone can chime in, that would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm not particularly satisfied with my car's ride quality with Tokico HP shocks and Eibach Progressive springs. I have the new KONI's in hand and a set of OE spirngs and DO want to get the car lowered a bit more than it's current setting. I'm thinking that with stock springs and the KONI's I can more easily tune the the ride quality. Any comments on cutting the OE springs would be welcomed.

Hey mates This up coming weekend I'm going to be replacing the shocks on the Z. While I have the front struts out of the car I figured (..you know while I'm already here...) I might as well do the strut bearing - the bearing on the top of the strut. Does anyone happen to know off hand an off the shelf part number for these? How difficult are they to do? Thanks Cheers Jan
