  1. Remember you don't have to own a Z to be a club member in most cases - you just have to have some interest in Z cars. Many members of this Z club don't own Z's yet. Now I don't know about the G35 owner in this case, but his reason for joining could simply that he has an interest in Z's (maybe the 350Z). Considering the close relation between the G35 and the 350Z, he could possibly get something out of joining the Z club. Sort of a gray area I guess.
  2. Spudz, I agree that it's a good idea to buy from Zcar community supporters - I have never dealt with strictly Z and didn't realize they support shows and zdriver.com. 24oz was asking for prices and I threw one out. Michael ps next time save the sarcasm till you're sure the recipient really deserves it!
  3. $157 at suspension.com (that's where I bought mine months ago).
  4. Now a topless with those curves would be something (from the side anyway)! That's what I thought it was at first. Oh well... Michael
  5. Is the Jet Hot coating the ceramic coating you're talking about?
  6. I thought z's were supposed to go with T-tops. Oh well.... Ugly either way I guess.
  7. Cool. I'll email you after I take a good look at it. I've also got a couple of Morphine shows if you're interested. But I'm always happy to spread Ween around to anyone who wants to listen! I was big on B&P's back in my trading days... Michael
  8. Not a GD fan but I'm a follower of a band that follows in the same spirit (open show taping, heavy bootleg trading, rabid fan base). This great band is WEEN headed by Gene and Dean Ween. I've got tons of bootlegs starting with their first recorded show in '89 up to a lot of shows from the 2001 tour. I haven't traded in awhile. I think someone threw in some GD shows with one of my trades one time but I didn't really get into it. See http://www.chocodog.com/chocodog/ween/ for more info or www.weenradio.com for a complete archive of streaming audio. MIchael
  9. I've got a gallery of representative Z's painted the stock colors. It's not finished yet but here it is anyway: http://www.utdallas.edu/~perdue/paintcodes.html As far as figuring out what color your car was, it's not coded in the VIN or anything like that. Dig under the carpets or under the dash or look for the sticker over the radiator like 2manyZ's said. Michael

  11. Do they come with free whistler installation?
  12. I was also going to make a wisecrack on the "Best head" post but thought that may be going to far (or have I already?) oh well... Michael
  13. I frequently have weird noise coming from the rear too - normally after too much Mexican food. Sorry I haven't figured out a way to help that too much! Sorry - slow day at work.... Michael
  14. Your "240Z in the Rain" pic is now my background image on my home PC. Thanks! Good luck on your search for original tires. Michael
  15. I like the hall of shame. We could use one of those here (crashed Z's).
  16. I had the same thoughts. The big bumpers do nothing for the body lines of the early Z. I like the way he did his amplifier mounting. Could have done a better job with the subwoofer and front speakers but not bad anyway. ALso I don't normally like the big front air dams but it really fits in this case. Maybe it makes the bumpers look smaller? Michael

  20. I hate having hot air blowing in my face anyway so this won't bother me at all when I get my car running. My feet are always freezing! Also the Datsun Dude has mint condition factory service manuals for about $75. You can reach him at z@datsundude.com. You may not want to take it in the garage but it's all there. He's got a long list of NEW original parts. MIchael
  21. Hey cardog. Beautiful '71! What are your plans for the car? WIll you drive it at all or keep it in a garage? Looks like an investment to me. Welcome to the club - I hope you can get past the "complicated" interface here and stick around. If you stop by enough it'll grow on you. Michael

  24. It's not hard to remove the riser vinyl. Just take a look and see how it's held up. Mine had absolutely no rust and yours may be the same. As far as the transmission tunnel depending on how far up the rust went on the floors you may or may not need to mess with it. I had a little rust on my floors and my tranny tunnel was completely rust free. I'lll probably POR it anyway jsut becuase I've already started stripping and sandblasting it. It's a bit of a pain to inspect it becuase ther's a thick matting covering the tunnel under the vinyl - it's hard to remove without destroying it. In the rear hatch check the rear hatch deck panel and the spare tire well. It may need some work. The area under the tar (on the hatch area floor) may rust because there are lots of "wrinkles" in the metal that flood with water under the matting. Mine has some surface rust but not too bad. But again I'll probably POR it anyway and apply new soundproofing. Sounds like you're about where I am right now except mine is a little more stripped down. GOod luck! Remember POR15 requires a temperature of 75F so depending on where you are you may not be able to paint it for a few months. Michael
