  1. Also remember that Republicans held the majority in the house while slick was in office. And before you claim any more liberal BS, we have most of the same equipment we had in the first gulf war under Bush. The military, FBI and CIA under willie was an absolute joke. Lawyers were fighting wars. As stated, 1mil Rwandans were slaughtered, I thought bill was for blacks? All his treaties (palistinian and korean) are broken. These liberal rantings don't bother me because it makes them look even dumber than they are. :stupid: Liberals are trying to find any credit to claim victory now that everything that they were opposed to is over. Pathetic.
  2. I'm buying a bunch of those and painting them different colours so I can decide what I want. Infact, I'm heading to Wally Mart shortly.
  3. The smoke may be normal. I took one of my cars out of storage a month ago and it blew smoke for the first 5 min. I saw an old Galaxie that wasn't started in more than a year look like a diesel with all the black smoke it was spewing. It did just like you described. Once the engine ran for awhile and it was driven around, it stopped. But I did say MAY be normal. As for shocks, I belive Koni and KYB are the two most popular choices. I have no preference over the two but I'm going with Koni when I get around to my suspension.
  4. I'm in the same boat you are. My head looks like the lungs of a 4 pack a day smoker. So far paint thinner, alcohol, alum. wheel cleaner, various solvents do NOT work. If I don't find something relatively soon I might just have it removed when I have the machine work done.

Not buying a 100% French product is one thing, buying a partly owned product is another. Yes, Nissan is owned partly by the French, yet it is still owned partly by the Japanese and both Japanese and Americans are employees. You aren't so much hurting the French as you're more hurting the workers of the companies, in Japan and right here. Now a bottle of wine that is produced by France by the French and shipped to a liquor store here that also sells other wines is different. I stopped buying French wine but also buy US wine at the same store. They aren't loseing business because of me doing that. I don't mind a boycott, just one that makes sense. With that said, if you give someone enough rope, they will eventually hang themselves. The French will eventually get what's coming in the end. As for the protesters, most of their demonstrations are organized by socialist groups, a pretty name for communists. So take that for what it's worth. They have a right to express thier opinion, yet at the same time that also opens them up to critisism. Free speach works both ways. Nobody WANTS war. After seeing the celebrations today, I think war was more than justified.
  6. Where's the fuzzy dice?
  7. Definatly get quality tools. Get at least Craftsman. I prefer Kobalt (Lowes) for lower priced tools. They're made by Snap On (from what I can tell they ARE Snap On) but don't have the selection like Craftsman. All my tools are Snap On. They're expensive but if you buy one tool a week it adds up. It's a good habbit to buy at least one tool per month if you can. Ebay is a good place to buy tools for next to nothing.
  8. Audi A6- Ford hired the guy that designed the new beetle. Now most of Fords newer cars look like an Audi, inside as well.
  9. How's this one- Ford FiveHundred-

From the A pillar back it looks like the Ferarri, forward it looks like a Jag.
  11. My harness, like the rest of the car was cut up by a hack. Everything worked before I tore the car apart but I don't want to risk a fire with a restored car. I've found out there's no new harnesses so it's either find one in good shape or buy a universal one and figure everything out. If I have a weak point it's, wiring, I'd rather rebuild a tranny. Any suggestions?
  12. I wish my floorboards looked like that. Mine has a 1 foot round hole in it.....something like Fred Flintstone would drive.
  13. Thank you, at least someone here understands economics.
  14. Where are the frame rails available from? I have the beginning of the problem he had and I might as well take care of the whole thing. I'm already replacing damn near everything but the roof, what's a little extra. Thank God I can weld.
  15. You might want to put a block of wood behind the valve cover to keep the engine from falling into the firewall. Other than that it's straight forward, it's actually very easy.
  16. $1.50 in NY. Indian gas, no tax. Bush has nothing to do with oil prices. The price of oil is set on supply and demand and fluctuates greatly with any certainty or uncertainty with world events. What conspiracy is next, little green men in Roswell?
  17. My gas tank is shot but I've had a hard time finding a decent tank for a replacement that isn't insanely priced. I was looking at Summit and they've got fuel cells for around $150, which with the cost of the s.u., lines, would be about the same as a used tank. (My orginal lines are shot also) I'm not concerned about the size of the cell because I won't be driving the car too much. Is it worth the trouble of installing a fuel cell or should I just pay up for a decent tank?
  18. Has he quoted you a price yet?
  19. I'm right down the road from you. I found a couple shops in Batavia that do work. If none of them are any good, let me know the name of the shop you went to. I need the exact same thing done.
  20. I'm in NY, so yea, shipping to CA would be nuts. I know a couple of race drivers so I'll ask one of them where to go. I'll be able to put a cam in it now, MSA doesn't use anything but stock. Thanks.
  21. Has anybody run into this before? It looks like some major fab work. There is a hole on the left and right sides of the inner fender where the cross member is mounted. I saw in the how to restore book the guy did pretty much the same thing. If you've done this before, what was involved in fixing it? I can't go out and buy another car with a better body because I don't have the space. (3 going on 4 cars) I'm not concerned with the cost involved.
  22. After taking my head apart I found a ton of carbon built up and it still has the broze seats and guides. Is there any shop you would recommend to send it to for the head work? I really don't want to trust it to a shop not familiar with the engine. I saw MSA sells rebuilt heads for $460 or something. Would it be worth just buying one of those?
  23. Why sell a $15000 car and buy a $2500 one that needs work? If I did that I'd buy a Stang. My SHO would smoke a Z anyway.
  24. I just started a job at a car dealership and work in the storage building where they keep cars that usually don't sell in winter. I saw a Z there and didn't think much of it. Then a couple days ago I was told to work on it. It kinda grew on me and I've always wanted to start road racing and thought this would be a perfect car. I asked the owner how much I could buy it for and he said $2500. I'm starting a car collection and figured this would be a nice addition.I'm only 23 and just starting it. All I have so far is a 97 SHO, only 18000 96-99 SHO's were produced, should be worth something. Cliff notes: Found a 71 240Z, like it. I noted some things that are wrong with it. Clutch not working, stuck engaged. I'm thinking it has something to do with the master cylinder as the reservoir was dry, added fluid and it still didn't work. No pressure at all in peddle. Carbs need work. I got it running after a little tinkering, but they will need at least to be cleaned. Did run strong considering it hasn't run for almost a year. Hole in floor pan. I'd imagine a replacement is readily available. Those are the major items, others are minor and mostly cosmetic. Condition wise it's great. New paint (Buffed out GREAT!), no rust, interior good but will need carpets and there's a hole in the seat. I still haven't put it on a lift yet but looking under it there seemed to be nothing wrong. The history I found out so far was just that it sat for at least 5 years and has 66k original miles. It was locally owned in my county. It's in NY so I know it wasn't driven in winter or it would be rusted out. Given that info does this look like something to buy? Or should I wait for another. I've decided I want a Z so if not this one, definatly another. BTW, is has Shelby wheels on it if that means anything.
