Yep, concrete is best. Really hard to roll a jack around on pavers of anything that isn't nice and flat. Painting is a really good idea too. Did my workshop two years ago and didn;t expect it to alst long but it still looks great!

Cuong, That is a beautiful GTR. The R32 GTR is my all time favorite car (even above the Z). I've wanted one ever since they came out, preferably in silver. Good to hear you're keeping it original. I'm not that much of a purist but it seems a shame that most of the ones you see around are hacked about with on one way or another. "Spartan air", huh? does that mean you shouldn't pump the tyres up too much? Congratulations.

Now I've had and played with fuel injection I wouldn't consider carbies anymore. It's true that a smooth idle and whatnot are things that people tend to like in "appliance" cars, but if you can have something that performs and still idles, why not? I wouldn't use a factory computer though, as it can be hard to find and fix problems, and you can't play with it. Both my cars use Haltech computers, and I'm very happy with them. It's great to be able to plug a laptop in and know exactly what's happening. In my opinion, You can't go past a factory injection manifold and a Haltech computer for a nice value for money setup. Damn. Wasn't that far from there a couple of weekends ago. Will be going that way (sort of) again, but not for a month or two. If you can wait that long give me a yell. The other thing you might like to consider is a good ole NRMA inspection. I don't have a particularly high opinion of them , especially on old cars, but it will give you an idea...

You may find a whitworth spanner will fit. Don't think Nissan would have ever used whitworth though. You could go and buy a crappy (but not too crappy) 16 mm spanner and carefully grind it until it's the right size. PS. whitworth is a wacky old british spanner sizing system that refers to the thread size rather than the bolt head size. It seems to be dead standard everywhere but the Australian building industry.

Any brake shop should be able to make one for your you. Won't look as good as a factory one as it's near impossible to match those bends but it will work fine and shouldn't cost very much.

Probably better to let them do anyway, so they can trim it to exactly the dimensions they want, as sometines you want the rust repair panels to overlap (extra strength), and sometimes you want a butt-join (extra prettiness). If you cut too much you could turn a good shell into scrap.

How long does it take the battery to go dead? An hour? A day? A week? There is a check function on the ignition switch that fires the brake warning light on startup to let you know that it is still working, so I would have thought that it was a dodgy ignition switch that was triggering this light when it wasn't meant to, but you've already replaced this so I guess that counts this out, unless the new one is dodgy too. What does the ignition switch wiring under the dash look like? Still nice and original or all hacked up? Does the car have an alarm / immobiliser fitted? Quite normal to get current leakage from these through either the unit or an installation problem. Sounds like a bugger of a problem. Good luck!

I used to work like that but got tired of always being cranky cause I was wasting so much time wandering aimlessly through piles of crap looking for a 12mm spanner. Then I realised that the stuff I almost never used (like harmonic balancer pullers and spare seatbelts) were mixed up with everday tools. Once I put all that stuff away and got a decent tool chest it was easy to keep things in order. And when you set up your new shed, one word. Powerpoints. Lots of them.:classic:

A good tool box or chest and a decent storage system so you can find your tools. Makes whatever tools you have much more usefull.

Yeah but then we would have had to get the starter motor reversed. There was also some doubt about the cam timing being affected as we could not determine if it was symetrical or not.
