Today is friday the 13th and here we even get a full moon tonight. If the rain holds back we are going out camping. I have never seen them before and would NEVER install them on on my 240. Think about this. Almost everyone here is working on rust of one kind or another on there Z. So why in the world would you want to install a rubber water/road crap trap on the ends of the rear bumper?

I know all about the big cc sport bikes. My first bike was a 900 and I still have her tucked away The thing with me is I enjoy tossing a bike into a corner just as much as top end speed. With me I am 5'8" @ 160 lbs so a heavy bike is a real workout for me and have found the newer 600s a good balance for me. Thats what counts :devious:

:disappoin No it was not me that did this. This is how it gose when you let a first time rider loose on a twisting back road. He is ok Well ok alive. Broken arm and cheek bone are what he got out of this deal. Oh yah and a bill for $2500 just in parts.

Well, I will let the photos do most of the talking. This is how it gose when you mix a 45 MPH left hand turn with around 100 MPH of speed.

I use the craftsman gloves and love them. The only thing is they should have a warning on them for melting. The first time I broke out my gloves it was for working with a ( warm ) motor. Every thing was going good till the (leather LIKE) part of my glove brushed along the header. Then the part that hit the header melted like a plastic bag in a fire but on my finger:( . Yes I said some choice words. :tapemouth I took them back to sears and they didnt even blink at the melted fingers. Just tossed a new pair at me and said "sorry about that." Another trick I found with these goves. Buy them on the small side. Then put them in the wash on hot then the dryer on high heat. Get them out before they cool and put them on. They will almost form around your hand size as they cool and stay that way. This makes them fit so you can forget you even have gloves on.

This is just what I am looking into for the badges for mine. I have been thinking about going with the new 350Z badges. Now I am not talking about all of them from the 350 but just the NEW style Z badge and maybe the new style nissan hood badge. (I have a freind with a silver 240 and that rear panel is chromed.) I bet it looks nice but around here I think you would end up with tickets for blinding people at night when they get behind you with there headlights pointing back at them.

$149.95 for a speaker box I dont know about the fit or how good it is made but the price is far to high IMO. The other thing is that bass port in this box. Note there is only one. This means that your speakers are going to share the same air inside the box. The only time this will work well with speakers is if you are running mono not stereo. If you are looking for a good box set for 6X9s buy the smaller sealed box's made for them. Take the doors off the tool boxs in the rear floor. Use them as a pattern and cut your own doors with speaker holes. Then cover them with with what you like. Just make sure your speaker covers(grills) can take some blows without hitting your speakers. Bang you now have new sealed speaker boxs in your Z with no loss of space. Done proper it will look stock for the non-zed head. Have Fun.

You will not get heat from your dash vents. The dash vents are just that VENTS. You should have a pull knob just under the dash on bolth sides open or closed for outside air only. (I could smell antifreeze in the car) I would get the small hole you found fixed then pressure test the cooling system. I would say with little heat and a smell your heatercore may be bad. With out looking no one can say 100% thats it but thats where I would start. P.S. If it is the heatercore get it fixed asap or block off the heatercore lines till its fixed. If not you may have some real bad burns once it lets go and floods your legs and feet with coolant. Hope it helps and enjoy your Z.

Around here they are few and far between. North East Oklahoma. There are 2 reasons for this around here. #1 around here Import cars are looked down even today. This is coyboy land so.... #2 The city and state use heavy road salt :sick: So the ones that did make it here are long gone:sleepy: I drove three states for mine. The only other 240 I have seen near me I took home for parts.

The most expensive part of a Harley is paying the guy on the honda to follow you so some one can pick up the parts and give you a ride home.:tapemouth I love hogs BUT the love ends after the 1960s. Then amc jumped in bed with harley in the mid 70s i think. After that its all down hill IMO :mad: Now I am in sport bikes. I love my honda CBR 600. No its not big in the cc's but I can toss it into a corner with ease and lift the front wheel from any point under 50 mph. I just dont know if I would want a bike that will lift the front wheel at 90 mph without thinking. I would kill myself :dead:

I wish I could say it was my story but..... It's dads In the early 80s my father owned roller rinks. One night about 12am the phone rings. Its the police saying that the alarm at the rink was going off and asked him to get there ASAP. Now the rink was a 45 minn drive in light traffic and well over an hour with heavy traffic. Like I said this was late night so there was no one out. I was there when the call came and thats all he needed was the police telling him GET HERE NOW. My moms 1970 240Z was sitting there begging him. So he took it. He takes her Z and hits the empty highway. 22 minn. later he is sitting in the parking lot for the rink cop cars everywhere. Turns out it was just some punks screwing around and he is sitting there talking with the police. Then one of the cops chimes in saying (where do you live again?) my dad tells them. One cop starts doing the math and came up with average speed of over 100MPH :tapemouth They just gave him a grin and one of them asked if he wanted to sell the Z and if not if they could go for a ride. P.S. This was my moms Z . It was set-up tripple webbers 6 into 2 header large fender flares with the off set wheels and a full cage. Yes it was a track only car from new till my dad bought it for my mom and taged it for the street after a repaint and new glass. This car (was) the main reason for my ove of the Z. My dad got in a small wreck with it hurting the front end. The body shop was givin the car for the winter so they could take there time and do it rite. Plus they could get out of winter storage. Anyway The @#@# body shop pushed the car half way in and shut the door on the roof. Then they sealed around the car and left the whole rearend of the Z outside in the snow and ice for the winter while they did the front. Dont worry they didnt let it get frozen into the ground. All the salt there shop boy was tossing around kept it from seeing any ice:mad: It took less then one year from that winter till the whole arse end was GONE. Had it not been for that I am sure she (or I) would stil have it.

I think the thing that get my blood pumping the most are twisting roads with rolling hills. I can feel it now. Lots of shifting and alittle drifting then the rollercoster hills. :love:

(Has any one seen an after market 3rd light that looks reasonably cool? (inside mounting only) or any from another car that may work that looks very slim and can be inside roof mounted? ) I have used the third brake light from the GM astro vans. I think the fullsize vans use the same. The third light is a thin LED style light about one foot long in its own case. They are mounted on the roof of the van with 2 screws and 2 wires. Just run a jumper wire from the brake light where you want it and 2 screws. Real nice set-up nice clean thin case thats easy ta hide.

The room for the roof to slide back was part of the reason for the new roofliner in the one I saw. It didnt look far out of place just a small drop. His was about the same size as the moon roof in a maxima. I agree on the pop up style as the RX7. The job would not be as hard and dose the same thing. I had a 89 Rx7 and it had that moonroof. When it was open from the back it looked like I had a supra style window wing. But thats the part I am unsure about (how would it look open on a 240 ?)

I have seen one 240 with a moonroof. I wish I had some photos. The owner had one installed and it looked good. The only thing I didnt like was the owner had them use the glass style roof. I think if I was going this way I would use the metal roof painted. I looked over the Z and talked with the owner. He said that the moonroof was installed as a fix for the 70s sunroof. The hole was there anyway and he was sick of the drips from the carwash. He said that it was not real hard for the shop to install but that he needed to get a custom headliner made for it. I dont think I would cut a solid car but if it has a hole there its a good choice IMO. I was told he paid around $400 for everything.

Money is the key. I have seen one good job and many that look good for a year or so. Then the body filler starts cracking from flex. If you pay a pro they can keep the heat low and use little filler around the welds. Go cheap and they will flex the metal and need too pile the filler in so it looks smooth. Then the stress cracks will come. IMO your just better off looking for one without the hole OR pay a custom shop to install a slide back moonroof like the newer cars where it slides between the roof and headliner.

I saw something about a rack from a mazda miata fitting well with little mods done other then one mounting ear. I will look and see if I can find it.

Yes, it's true. I think it was in the 80s the car makers changed over from cable driven speedos to elec. The cable driven speedos could be hooked up on a drill and run. The down side is that most drills will only run around 15 - 20 MPH. so do the math on how long this could take. :stupid: Not that its worth the time anyway. Most titles have the miles printed on them for what it was at time of transfer. Was thinking this is a tell tale sign that the odometer has been rolled back??????? YES, with that odometer it has 6 numbers not 5 like the early cars. The numbers will jog with that odometer as the miles change BUT look at the first number. The one is starting to come up (you can see the top of it) this should not be unless the miles are around 99,000 . Who would want to turn back the miles on a zx anyway :stupid: What happens when you get to 999999 miles, does it roll over back to 000000? Yes. Just for laughs I contacted the seller of this car -- and asked him to explain all the inconsistencies between condition and mileage This was his response >i am a dealer and can prove the miles. odometer is original,the vehicle has been owned by our dealerships attorney. Hmmm I would stay far away from a dealership that say's they have a attorney on the staff. That attorney must be good if there running to the court house in a $2500 ZX
