Wake up midwest!
I'm awake-kinda- but I am waiting for dry warm weather to hit the junk yards. Right now I am dealing with a guy in up state N.Y. for parts. Poor guy doesn't have a garage and is pulling parts in the snow, but he has been great to deal with. Is that a 2+2 jagnew3 because this guy has a 77 that he is parting out. He seems straight up trying to make some extra money. I already got the moustache bar and seatbelts from the car, it supposedly has a great interior. I'm going to be on the hunt for a 3.9 rear as soon as the weather breaks.

Hello from Indianapolis, In.
Hey guys, I'm also from indy, actually Avon, just south of IRP. Walter i also have a 71 that I've had for 14 years and now I'm doing a complete overhaul. It is also in pieces but won't be running anytime soon. Do either of you guys belong to the indyz club. Their web page hasn't changed for a while, don't know if they are still around, I need to join.

I've been looking at my M.S.A. catalog and can't seem to find return spring for my SU's. Does any one know where to get new ones. I tried searching but didn't come up with anything.

Lets just say custom EFI is the way to go..
Isn't it great when an investment pays off, it kinda takes the sting out of the wallet. Congrats and keep us posted, EFI is the way to go if it can be done.

Who in the NW polishes wheels?
So who did all the polishing on the motor? Your intakes took SOMEONE a very long time to do, and I am speaking from experience. If you didn't do them can I ask how much you paid someone else to do them? I am putting a set on ebay soon and wonder what I will get for all my effort. steve

intakes--is there a difference?
Does anyone have any evidence that shows there is a difference in performance between the different intakes. i.e. e-88, n-33,n-36. I have searched and there seems to be very little on this. I have a choice between the e-88 and a 36 , and looking at them I cannot see a difference. I've read that the latter year flowed better to make up for weaker carbs but I haven't seen anyone verify this. Even if it is 10 hp like rumored, that's easy hp to just bolt a different intake on. I appreciate any wisdom on this steve

SU balance tube
Zsaint, when you polished out your intake and balance tube did you clear coat them?I am looking into a powder coat clear. I am going to see how much it dulls the finish. I would live with a dullness for not having to re-polish the intake. Also, did you do the plating or have it done somewhere? By the way , everything looks fantastic. I hope mine turns out that good steve

Compressor Size
I have a bead blasting cabinet with a 5hp 60 gallon tank. I have to take breaks about every few minutes to let it catch up. If you want 90 psi for long durations you will need atleast 12cfm at 90 psi ,so it will need to a big compressor. But it all depends how much you use it.For the hobbyist I would get atleast a 5hp motor? IMHP

SU balance tube
Kenny, why wouldn't I weld them shut to clean up the balance tube, I am polishing that and the intake? And 26th-z, How would I get a hold of the END hose that went on the e-41 tube. And what did you mean by this " It should also be noted that the hose fitting that screws into the manifold is machined for a restricted oriface."

SU balance tube
Hope someone can help me with this. I am cleaning up the balance tube and welding close the unneccessary vacuum ports. I should only need 2, correct? One for the pcv and one for the vacuum booster. I have seen the some where the booster line came off the end of tube, I wonder how they came up with the hose for that or was it just trial and error to find one? If anyone can think of any other vacuum requirements please chime in.

E88 not the best head?
Piper, your still going to run the spray bar with the internally oiled cam? I am building my e-88 the same way with the bigger valves and some porting work and i plan to still use the spray bar too.

Installing a air/fuel ratio monitor
Can someone tell me what they paid for their "cheapy" analyzer and where they sourced it from. Something like jmortesen was talking about sounds good.Everytime I look I seem to come up with these 1500$ units. I would like to tune my su's as accuretly as possible since i am putting so much into this motor but also do it myself.
-
Installing a air/fuel ratio monitor
after reading this I really want to get an analyzer myself http://www.triumphclub.co.nz/su_carbs.html But I wandered for tuning the su's if it would be better to find a 4 gas analyzer for more accurate testing across the complete power band.

An Offer on my Z
Glad to hear you kept her. The reason I even got in on this thread was when I first started on this site I was going thru the pics of cars and fell in love with yours. I had some ideas of what I wanted to do and then i saw yours and WOW. I wanted to shave the rear bumper, and I love the subtle rear flares with the big meats, and RED paint. I had a red 71 and sold when I was young and didn't realize what a unique, beautiful car these are. I have another 71 now and will never sell. Its definitely a personal decision and I think you will be happy keeping it. Either way I had to say how much I like that car, please post more pics when you can steve

body parts (urgent)
I was in the same boat and needed a front core support for my 240z. The folks at z car source were really friendly and very reasonable. They sold me the core support and shipped for 130$(to indianapolis). It was rust free and straight except there packaging sucked and I let them know becuase it caused some damage( very fixable).I would definitely buy from them again!

3 or 4 screw SU's
so I guess the e-88 manifold is to match up with the emission carbs?I have heard the guys mention the prefered intake is the 36 but I don't see much of a difference.
-
3 or 4 screw SU's
CAn someone tell me the difference between the 3 and 4 screw SU's(besides the obvious)?I noticed a small chamber area on the bottom of the carb with passages from the intake, is this for coolant? Is there any difference in performance? Also the 3 screw carbs came attached to a e-88 intake, how does that compare to the e-36 intake?I bought the 3 screws off of e-bay and they are like new but I want to make sure I put together the best performing package for my car. thanks for any info

Anyone seen this engine yet
I haven't had any thing that bad but I am waiting. I bought a headlight bezel the other week that had "surface" rust. When I got it it had HOLES in it. Anyway it turned out that this lady was selling it for someone else and she didn't know so she gave me my money back.I had real good luck parting out a 280zxt on ebay also, mostly the buyers were good to deal with and paid on time.
