  1. I would recommend selling your re-chromed '73 guards, buy some '70-'72 guards and then use your 4-bolt rubber strips. The larger '73 guards were set closer to far ends of the bumper than the '70-'72 guards were and in my opinion would not look right on the older bumper. Besides, as you have found out, it's going to be tough trying to find some '73 rubber guards and your re-chromed guards should sell quickly.
  2. Siteunseen, Thanks for the link, I appreciate your response. The only thing is that the picture of the S-shaped shifter on the zcarz.us website is no different than the stock shifter that comes on the Type B transmission (see 1st pic below). It needs to have more of a bend at the lower part of the shifter like the shifter that Brian modified on Post #13 in order for a '70/'71 console to fit (see 2nd & 3rd pics below). I'm hoping that someone manufactures one like this.
  3. Hi Guy, Since I'm chiming in almost a year later, do you know if anyone has started manufacturing the modified shifters yet? I am in need of one and have been looking all over the Internet and haven't found one yet.
  4. Yes, the seller definitely took a bath on this one. The $10,450.00 includes a 10% commission, so the buyer got even less for the car. It seems like the few 240Zs that are up for auction at Barrett-Jackson are going for less and less each year, not a good venue for 240Zs....too many muscle car guys who really have no interest in imports. I agree with Carl, the seller would have done a lot better on Ebay where there are a lot more potential bidders and there's a lot less risk. One interesting note, the VIN HLS30-64331 on this car is close to the VIN on my son's and my 1/72, HLS30-64733 that we sold on Ebay for $15k in October of 2008.

  6. Hi Dan, I wish I had seen your post earlier. I've had an NOS set of 4 seals for a few years now that I've never used (see pic below). However, after reading through this thread, I might just hold on to them in case I need to replace my inserts someday. Hearing that the stock inserts are not too soft and not too stiff, if I can find a complete set of 4 NOS stock inserts (and dust covers) for my '71, I may just have them installed along with my 4 seal kits when the time comes. As difficult as it is to find the NOS inserts, I guess I better start looking pretty soon.

  9. I am installing a small aftermarket speaker (reusing the stock bracket) for the stock am radio on my '71 and was wondering if the positive wire for the speaker was the white/black wire or the white?
  10. I seemed to have misplaced the 2 bolts that fasten the rear license plate to the back of my '71 240Z. I've tried some odd spare bolts and some are close but are not quite the right size. Does anyone know the correct diameter & length of the bolt? Thanks in advance. Steve

  13. Hi Guy, Sounds like Denver Bumper has raised their prices since I last had them do some work for me. The last time I had them do a front bumper about 2 years ago, it was $250.00.
  14. Frankly, I'm surprised that no one has purchased it for the BIN yet. Sitting at only $2,550.00 with 11 bids with 7 days and 1 hour remaining at the time of this post. For the money, you're not going to find a better 240Z for sale on the East Coast.

  17. I purchased the end-mount rubber insulators from Banzai for the rear bumper on my '71, but I seemed to have misplaced the bolts that attach the ends of rear bumper to the sides of the body. Does anyone know the correct size & length of these bolts? Thanks

  20. DT, I bought a set of 240Z skins with the chrome strips attached from Les at Classic Datsun Motors Sports and I'm very happy with them. Make sure you use a good, solid set of door panel boards to mount the new skins on. http://classicdatsun.com/

  22. Sorry, Scarab fans; I realize that this is a special car, but in today's market it will never sell for $300k. I would say $50k to $60k at the most.
