twin exhaust
I believe it wasn't just the 432's it was the Fairlady Zg's with the one above the other in the picture you showed. The worx rally cars had dual exhausts down the middle of the car. My car has the exact same thing I've gotta get some photo's of it to show. :classic:

What tranny do I have?
BTW TexasZ I forgive you . I understand Uni has put me under alot of stress comming up to midway and all my assignments and tests are at once. I find playing online 3d shooters is a good way to let some frustration out. Nothing like putting a few bullets in an opponent. :classic:

What tranny do I have?
Ben that's great I'm going to copy that and save it for future reference. BTW are the Porsche Style Synchro's any good? Some people were saying they prefer them I ask because my geabox's synchro's are worn. Any ideas about good places to get replacement Gbox parts my local Z yard says u can't buy things new for them like bearings and he has to tear apart another to build mine. I'm not convinced this is a good idea although at $700 it's what I'd expect. Any suggests etc.. :classic:

Fix It Up, Or Find Another?
Are you crazy fix it up you have hardly any rust. Looks like a great car better to fix the problems with the one you know then to buy another and find hidden problems. I'm only going by pics but from those she looks very good.:classic: as a potential project.

What tranny do I have?
It's a subjective question because we don't know if yours has been swapped at some stage or not. In Aus for example our 240z's had the 3.9 R180 Diff. The 5 speed came in all Z's here we didn't get 4 speeds. Sorry I can't help I don't know us spec cars.

Tentatively bougth a '72, tell me how I did?
You got a great price just think of how much you would spent to fix up a 240z that was a total wreck and putting OEM parts on it? Not to mention rust repair. I wish I could buy a factory refreshed 240z from Nissan:classic: . Very nice Z hang on to it, it will be worth alot more later. As everyone is saying there only getting more expensive. Oh and keep the auto in the garage just incase. I've learnt never throw anything away. :classic:

zx limted slip?
Hey Brett I'd love one and thanks for letting me know however I have a few other expenditures for the car at the moment and although I'd love one it wouldn't be sensible to install it when it's not broken if you follow me. However if I get those things done I have to make a check list and I manage to get some cash together I'd be very interested a couple of questions though. Do you know roughly how much he wants for one? Is there any fabrication needed to fit one? Thanks.:classic:

What does Z weigh?
All engines should weigh the same amount. The l28 is just a bored and stroked version of the L24 as far as I know. Any difference would be very minimal however the 260z's had alot more accessories in the engine bay for AIR con etc... Unless your building a race car you shouldn't really wanna strip the car's weight to much if you ask me. It's probably cheaper to increase horsepower than to try lighten the car and get the same results. Depends on what u wanna do with the car. Just my opinion.:classic:

Anyone wanta swap zed for worked capri softtop?
THat's not always true infact some Z's in OZ go for good prices. I've seen 260z 2+2's sell for 11k + and some 240z's have gone for 20k+. Just thought I should mention. Also Z's over in the US are almost as common as Old Holden's here. We didn't get nearly as much Z's here and finding a good one is a tough job. If I were to be buying a Z I'd get a rusted one strip it down to the shell and restore ground up. Sure alot of work but at least you know there's no rust and the chassis will be straight etc... It's rare to find a 240z for less than 2k these days regardless of condition. I have seen one that I might look at with a friend I can't own 2 cars at the moment. If your interested it's a bit rusty the owner says and has a sunroof (another con) but I can give you the details. :classic:

Carbs
Hi guys good topic here. I bought a Unisyn recently and haven't had a chance to use it but I was browsing the Ztherapy site and curious about the SM needles they have. My current engine setup consists of the following:- F54 Block E88 Head (With Larger ZX Valves). Mild Cam. Extractors Etc.. Electronic Dizzy. I get pinging on WIde Open throttle or when i give it a bit of stick depending on a few things and I think the car runs better if the choke is out for higher rev driving. I was planning on gettin her on the Dyno and having it adjusted properly by an expert but do you think that the SM needles will work provided I tune with the Unisyn? I haven't got a colortune kit and have no idea where to get one, I guess I'll ask around for that. Any help appreciated. Also can anyone stand by Ztherapy there info is impressive but I'm not sure if my carbs need to be rebuilt or not. THey seem ok apart from the issue mentioned above. Thanks.

73 Safari car engine bay
Strange that there wasn't really much differene between these and the road cars. As in they didn't do a whole lot of modifications like you'd think they would. It's nothing like the rallies of today the WRX's Lancers etc.. hardly even get dirty, This is what it's all about.

my old baby
Sorry to hear it's really a shame when you take care of something and someone doesn't take the same care and it feels as if it was all for nothing. This is why I never want to sell my Z I just luv it too much to see it be destoryed by some twat!!!

May 2003 - Just polished
Biker can PM the products you used. How was the paint condition before hand? I've been meaning to polish my Z for about 4 months haven't had the time. I've tried a few products but the results of yours look fantastic btw your engine bay looks unreal.

Polishing Carbs Intake and Valve Cover.
Anyone know how to get a killer shine from your L series Engine? I've seen many great looking engine bays with polished up mirror like SU carbs and Valve covers that make me very jealous. Alot of people talk about using different grades of sand paper to get these that way but I'm not 100% on the procedure so i'm wondering what advice and things I can do to get a great shine from my engine. I have a spare set of British SU's I can practice on so I'm not fussed too much about making them look bad if something doesn't work out. I ask because I'm looking at a very sexy set for sale and considering buying. :classic:

I am an Idiot.
Thanks Daniel I understand what your saying I will still give my ball joints a quick pump or two. Bambi is right about both situations being in AUS genuine Z parts are a bit expensive as we got less Z's here and I could have got the cheapies but I wanna build this car right and not have to replace parts again 6 months later because I skimped out and spent $40 less on each side. It's just not worth the hassle for me I find it difficult enough to get time to work on my baby . I would really like to spend more but if I'm not studying I'm at work if I'm not at work I'm relaxing oh well soon it will be over and I'll get a fulltime job :classic: . Probably won't get more time to work on the car one of life's wonderful things.

Using a 240z as a daily-driver ?
I use mine daily but to be 100% honest I'd rather not. It's reliable been driving it a year with nothing too major wrong some things required replacement but they were parts that have been in service for 20 odd years or more. The choke is not a problem if it's set up correctly. The problem is the centre consoles crack and then the choke isn't properly engadged. I do not have to warm my car up really but I do nancy her till she get's warm. Other annoyances are the car park at Uni has 5 levels and if I'm late I sometimes have to park on the top floor with the open roof and the sun rain etc.. all have there go at my car. (I hate this). I have alot of things to do to my car before I can be confident in the way it drives. Engine mounts , gearbox mounts, oil leaks. THe other thing is tuning the SU carbs they come out of adjustment all the time. I purchases a Unisyn recently to get it into tune but I plan on getting it on a dyno to set up fuel delivery etc.. once that's done i should be able to adjust them myself (hopefully). At the end of the day George is right you appreciate the car more when you drive it on special occassions but I do admit I still smile when i drive it everyday. I think it's the fact that my car is built for the pleasure of driving I haven't had a decent stereo in a year and truth be told I only sometimes miss it (usually when i'm in traffic).:classic:
