  1. I was thinking $20K for sure but I am happy to see your investment pay off. So many people do not get back what they have invested. Restored cars in general I'm saying, not just Datsun. 8 minutes after grannyknot's Z is a really really nice green 1972 blue plate California 240Z. For the person that misses out on this one. I would also jump all over that car in a second if I could.
  2. Sold my excellent P90a with cam and rockers on ebay for $190 not that long ago.. I don't know what I was thinking. Could have got a lot more. It sold in less than 1 hour. Zero feedback too. Typical.
  3. You know that is what I was thinking too. Just put rings on some standard (new or old) pistons, some bearings and reassemble? Not that there is anything wrong with that. Anyone can do that. Why spend extra money to have that work sent to Eiji? Does not compute. Must be more to the story.
  4. Get us a photo of that piston if you can. I and others too may like to see what it looks like. I have heard of this before on Z turbo builds but nothing that bad on a NA engine.
  5. I have a question. How do these rings get into an oil pan even if broken?
  6. Very bad news for the Z community. Unfortunately I did not ever get to meet or talk to him. RIP And just 3 weeks ago the guy that restored my Z died suddenly from an aneurism. Too much for me.
  7. This is what I was thinking as well. Seems a lot of 240Z's have been listed for sale lately. Almost all the nice ones actually sold for less than what I thought they would. I too, like the color of this car. I would but it in a minute if I could. I was wondering if it was painted a BMW or Audi color. But now that I reread the original post I see It is Jaguar grey. I thought it had more blue in it from the photos. I will be watching.
  8. Got the new springs, retainers and reground cam installed. Put in .180 lash pads and need to test wipe pattern yet.
  9. The 240Z caliper and the Girling caliper is very close. The TR6 uses two different pads. Early and late series. I should not have said the same pad. May not be exact.. You may have to do some trimming. I need to check further. I sold my TR6 36 years ago.
  10. Like I said before, if that were a 356, yours would be worth about 40K or more as it sits! Maybe some day. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252347220006?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  11. Yes, I have used the SEM Napa red on my red interior vinyl. It looks to be a perfect match. Good stuff.
  12. Ferodo used to have them. I had Ferodo in my own 240Z. The 240Z and the Triumph TR6 take the same brake pad. Maybe they have discontinued that particular pad.
  13. Ron Carter with the BRE Z? I didn't know he sold it. I did see a car show photo of another person with one that looked like his.
  14. What I thought too. The bolts do have a flat on the bolt head as if it had a washer. I am going to install the new cam and torque down as is.
  15. Neither of my cyl. heads have washers under the cam tower bolts as shown below. Noticed while assembling mine. Do any of your cyl. heads have these washers?
  16. You will want to find out from supplier if you need the taper lug nuts or the 'Bulge' type nuts. My Konig wheels needs the Bulge style.

3000K warm white is not natural daylight color. Natural daylight color is 5000-5500K. I sell it.

I do not think any lives have been lost to dash light color. All the USAF fighters I worked on had red cockpit lighting. This was to aid the pilot's night vision outside the aircraft. On you car you have headlights at night to see where you are going. Unless you like to drive with them off.
  19. I thought the 78 Z came with the black ones. Or is this for the GTO conversion you built or building?
  20. Just curious, what brand are you using for springs and retainers? The lashpads seem to sit pretty high. I only had experience with stock and Isky retainers so far. I just bought the Schneiter springs and retainers but not installed yet. On the Isky retainers we found just the opposite. Lashpads sat too deep.
  21. Good idea. I think I will go that way. Thanks!!
  22. I was not sure what manifold gasket to use with this ported E31 head. So I laid the old Felpro N42 to overlay on the E31. I think another new N42 gasket will be just fine. Now I can keep moving ahead.
  23. Plus on my 72Z I never had factory carpeting under my seats like that shown. Only jute.
  24. I am hungry for for Chinese now that you mention it!
  25. Great. Thanks. Here is the head.
