  1. From my Datsun dealer directory: Downtown Seattle Datsun 1124 Pike Street Seattle, Washington 98101 (206) 622-2791
  2. I look for the numbers on it if they still exist. And I have a buddy with a shop that can test the output. I like that 'part supply' line in your sig. I would really have to stop and think about how many Datsuns out there have parts in them that I was somehow involved in over the years.
  3. The 78-80 810 also used the internally regulated LR160-42 alternator that Steve listed for the 81-84 Maxima. That's the same one used in the 78 280Z and similar enought to be interchangable with the 280ZX LR160-82B alternator. The the turbo ZX used the 70 amp LR170-02B and I'm still looking for a couple of those for my cars.
  4. You still should take care of both while you're in there as mentioned above. If you just do valve seals, you'll be back in there doing rings sooner than you think. Check the compression. That will give you a better idea of the state of things.
  5. Good luck! Make sure you assess the rust and the general condition of the car; wiring, completeness, etc. Some parts are getting hard to virtually impossible to find.
  6. It's in the fuel pump inlet. It can be removed and cleaned but be careful with it, they're NLA.
  7. Yeah, you got it. Seeing rust is normal but that looks like calcium and lime!
  8. Same pictures the rest of us are seeing?
  9. Why? For me, I just didn't like the way they looked on my car although they do look good on yours. Maybe the color makes a difference.
  10. Which doesn't really decribe me. If anything, I'm a Datsun enthusiast hence the statement "Nothing special to me." I'm sure there are many levels and types of enthusiasm for these cars so as you say, value and/or worth have to be relative terms rather than absolute. Based on that, there really isn't any real stratification in the value of Zs and all we really can discuss is what someone will or won't pay for one.
  11. If the key turns clockwise from the lock position, it's probably the same switch that's in the S30, S130, 810, 910 and others. Does it look like this? If so it's the same:
  12. 280Z's are all 3.545, 240Z's are 3.364 w/stick and 3.545 w/auto.
  13. The ones you describe for trucks probably have some type of bypass to prevent impedence of the coolant flow in case the filter gets clogged. I have flushed many a cooling sytem and have see some of the horrible stuff that can be in there. You don't need filters. The best way to prevent or at least minimize that is to do regular cooling system maintenece including flushing and changing coolant at least once a year. It not only prolongs the life of the radiator, but also the water pump, heater core, as well as the water passages in the engine which will prolong the life of the engine. I know that sounds like a commercial but it works for me. I haven't had a cooling sysytem related engine failure since I was a teenager. (and that's long ago!)
  14. My understanding is that you only use that type of thing for the initial run-in after a rebuild. Then you remove the filter set up, flush the cooling system, and refill it.
  15. It looks like the S130 had a better mounting setup than the S30. No strap and what appears to be an easier to change insulator.
  16. That's a good question because Nissan's list price is $33.72 so I doubt it. The price of the OEM cap (22162-N3602 which supercedes to 22162-C6002) is $25.69 at NissanParts.cc
  17. He's talking about the release lever on the seat bottom to move the seat fore and aft on the track. They go toward the tunnel. For the second question, if I understand it correctly, the raised bracket also goes toward the tunnel.
  18. Those are just stock inspection lids. They fit easily into a louver press. I had a set of them punched by my buddy's shop a few years ago. I thought they looked cheezy and sold them. (JMO)
  19. My sentiments also. This brings to mind a certain Red/Black 10th Anniv 280ZX that has been on ebay etc., as well as various Z car sites throughout the country with no sale for at least a year, maybe longer. Remember the guy that gave us mileage updates every so often? It's just a ZX with an appearance group type option and a plaque. A BP or a Zzzap doesn't even have the plaque. Nothing special to me.
  20. Carl can't respond, 2manyZs won't likely respond, but, careful, you might wake the Z-Hag!
  21. I assume you're talking about the Iron Cross style ZX wheels. They're not 'Anniversary' wheels as they were available on other 280ZX's also but as far as spacers go, I have them on my truck because the later model wheels wouldnt fit on that old truck without them but, deep down, I don't really trust them. I only drive the truck once and a while. They (the spacers) seem strudy enough but I wouldn't use them on a vehicle I drive more often.
  22. Interesting because my doors, hatch, and ignition all use the same key. The insignia on the key is an 'N'.
  23. If you know the OEM part numbers they're about $20 cheaper each than MSA or Courtesy Nissan. here
  24. My 78 has original keys, according to the PO, and they're square. They have the number stamped on one side also. The replacement keys don't. I can see enough of those keys in the picture in the ad to see that there are no numbers on them.
