280zx e12-80 Module Help
Where did you find the guide for testing the E12-80?

Picked up a 75 Today.
Don't feel bad. If the truck runs at all it'll probably make a good yard/farm truck and the Z is parts. Sounds like a good deal to me for $250.

Winding Road Magazine Question of the Day
When I was a kid, I always wanted a 57 Chevy. My dad had one and my earliest memories of riding around with the family were in that car. My dad also had a 57 Renault Dauphine (with a Judson supercharger!). But I never wanted one of those. He was always tinkering with it, something I never saw him do with the American cars he owned. Maybe that's where my interest in smaller cars began. As I got older and reached the point where I could have one (a 57 Chevy), my tatse in cars had changed. Of the nearly 50 cars I've owned since then, none were 57 Chevys.

Need a Bit O' Help Doing Something I Don't Want To Do
Hate to say it but, judging by the pictures, I still think that's a bit ambitious.

what is a "european tone"?
I saw two. One entitled "TVR Speed Twelve" and one entitled "Ferrari F430 Best Car Ever".

electrical ghettoness from previous owner
I, for one, really don't want to see an explanation of that here. Just look at the pictures he posted and you'll agree that he has some major problems. Concentrate on that. Look up the term if you're curious.

Auto to Manual swap (the pesky spacer)
The bolts are longer for the manual trans. I'm sure you could use the shorter bolts from the automatic but it wouldn't really be avisable. I'd want all the threads possible holding it in place. Get the correct bolts.

1983 280zx Flat Top Pistons
Ah, my bad. I didn't realize you were picking them up at a dealer.

auto transmission/starting
You say there's 'slop' in the linkage. That would rule out the inhibitor switch. There is an adjustment procedure for the linkage. Doing it improperly can lead to other problems. If you don't have experience with adjusting the linkage I think a trip to a trans shop would be money well spent.

Don't believe everything you read. Especially on eBay.

How many 240z's left?
One of the books I have says 101,575. Another say a number somewhere near the one you posted. I've seen higher and lower. I doubt if you'll ever find a 'reliable' estimate of how many are left if there's no 'reliable' number of how many were built.

240 MM 2+2 (TURBO) Flywheel
The 240 (some say 243) mm flywheel uses a 9 bolt pressure plate. I have that setup in my 78 with a ZX 5 speed. It's a factory 2+2/Turbo disc, plate, t.o. bearing ordered through Nissan about 8 years ago. You'll probably want something more than a stock clutch with 200 flywheel hp (others can chime in here). Your t.o. bearing has to be matched with the pressure plate so I'm not sure that the 240Z one will work due to the sleeve length. If you go aftermarket, the disc, plate, and t.o. bearing needs to be for a 2+2/Turbo and you'll need the correct length t.o. bearing sleeve.

msa or ztherapy
I also had a friend who could make those work and we did a few sets back in the late 70s/early 80s because they could be had so cheap. I had a couple of set that were flat out given to me, you know, "just get those damned thing out of my sight!" My friend was a McGuyver-ish type tinkerer that did some drilling, grinding, filling, etc. on them and actually got them to work decent. They wouldn't pass smog, however. I had a couple of cars, one 510, and one 260Z that ran well with them. He still has his shop but niether he, nor I have messed with flat tops for over 20 years. I doubt if you can get the needed parts anymore but I'm one of the few who doesn't think of them as 'Boat Anchors'.

I got to drive my Z!
Me too. That was just my bad spelling.:stupid: Too late to edit that one. Unless we're talking about the little tree......Okay, back to the topic.

I got to drive my Z!
Bonzi (rhymes with Fonzie) was an on screen software agent that helped search the internet. Kind of like a sidekick type thing like the little pop up 'paper clip with eyes' in Microsoft Office. I think he/it was actually called Bonzi Buddy. Back to your original statement. You last drove your Z before I bought my truck. I bought the red truck below my signature 12/24/80.

I know you mean 'Bonsai' but when I see 'Bonzi', I can't help but think of the cartoon character monkey or whatever it is.

electrical ghettoness from previous owner
Yeah, I do have that on my 78. I was looking above the fusebox, lile he said, but those wires are located more behind the glovebox like you said and mine are tied pretty well so it was hard to see.

1976 280Z AC compressor
He actually has the SWP123 but the MJ167 is a direct bolt in replacement and is a much better compressor. The SWP is the earlier 'SWash Plate' type compressor and the MJ is the later 'Oil Mist Jet' type and will cool better. I would suggest against using R134a in any of these older systems, however, because of the higher pressure and smaller molecule. If you can find (and afford) R12, that's what these systems were designed for. If not, I use Johnsen's Freeze-12. I buy it by the jug since I do HVAC/MVAC work. $125 per 30 lb. cylinder vs. $750 per 30 lb. cylinder and it actually runs at slightly lower pressures than the original R12. Not a commercial for Johnsen's. It's just that after about six years or so of trying to find a suitable replacement, this is the one that has given the best results.

4 speed manual and R200 differential oil weight
Considering that yours has electrical problems that you haven't yet solved that would be of little use to you and none to me, Arne or KTM. You've just made my ignore list. See ya.

4 speed manual and R200 differential oil weight
I'm on both sites and I agree with what Bo says about the two sites and zmaster. zmaster is beginning to do some annoying things here as well like bringing back old threads and adding nothing pertinent to them. Three or four of them on the front page right now.

electrical ghettoness from previous owner
Z Bane gave you the first two. The third one, I have not a clue, nothing like that in my 78. The fourth one is the terminal block that connects the green wire and the red wire from the transistor ignition unit (in front of you fuse box) to the green wire and the red wire from the distributor. As far as the fifth picture, I don't think that's a good idea. You would need one 80 amp fuse and three 50 amp fuses and heavy enough guage wire to carry the current and those plactic holders would most likely melt.
