Strainer in fuel system - '78 280Z
Why would you need a picture? I could take one if you really need it but if you jack your car up and remove the right rear wheel, the fuel pump inlet will be pointing right at you at just about the angle of webdawg1's picture.

1975 Fuse Box Cover
No. That's not from my 78 but I still sent you the wrong one. The one I posted is for a 76. Must have been a case of temporary aixelsyd. (Dyslexia)

Nice new antenna switch made by Dave
Tell me too, Will. I'm not sure how you propose to 'rework' a off-on rocker switch into a on-off-on normally off rocker switch. And that doesn't even go in to the number of poles or throws.

- Carbs or what ?????
I imagine you're glad it wasn't that. Have you priced one of those lately? 300 bucks or so unless you get it from a junkyard!- Replacing the roof?
Bill, you do that at your shop because proper welding requires a skill level not found at the average 'collision repair' shop. Old school type custom car builders can weld thin sheet metal and have it come out flawless. You'd also have to pay much more for their skills than the job would cost at a basic body shop.- 3.36 r180 vs. 3.55 r200
This may not help if your differential has been changed but it shows what the original ratio and type is: Datsun Differential/Trans ratios- Nice new antenna switch made by Dave
I would have kept my original antenna in the Z but it didn't work when I bought the car. My 810 has a similar antenna set up with a manual switch. I have a spare NOS 810 antenna and I thought about using it in the Z but I'd have to redo the wiring and the body of the 810 antenna is longer and is designed to go straight up rather than at an angle.- 2000gtr
- Any advice on Z's?
It's not so much 'the best of both worlds' as much as it's a larger displacement and more readily available engine. Many of the 240z's with 280z engines actually have 280zx engines. Much easier to find a 280ZX parts donor. Also, the majority of those engine swaps are done without the 280z/zx fuel injection and attending electronics.- Nice new antenna switch made by Dave
I also have a fully automatic antenna on my 78. I have a switch that controlls my amp where Austen has his antenna switch. My antenna is a Harada that I paid about 20 bucks for a a surplus parts house that used to be in Ontario, Ca. about ten years ago. I don't recall the model number.- burnout tips
What surprises me is that you guys didn't allow this post to fall off of the front page unanswered.- how many 1979 gold 280zx's were made
A 79 280ZX is a 79 280ZX, regardless of color. The 'rare' gold ZX you were told about would be the 1980 Anniversary edition. I you've already read the link in the previous post, you probaly know most of what you need to know about them. Rare is a matter of opinion. By numbers produced, the Red/Black version of the 1980 AE would be the rarest. 2500 Black/Gold and 500 Black/Red according to that summary. One of the co providers of that info on Z Home has been trying to sell a Red/Black AE for over two years that I'm aware of with no success.- My New Cold Air Intake
Briefly but I did it the way I did is in case I have to switch back to the stock setup. In California, sometimes an over zealous smog technician(!) won't even run the test if you have a non stock intake.- paint code location
That's what someone at Banzai Motorworks told me a couple years back when I asked them the same question. (I know, that doesn't mean it's right)- Engine shops near here!?
Z Barn is basically a Z/Datsun junkyard, from what I understand. I've talked to Roger a couple of times trying to find parts for my 810. Very knowlegable individual. I think the reason that Bruce referred you to him is because he knows the Datsun trade down there and if anyone can direct you, he can.- Nice new antenna switch made by Dave
Come on Dave. I'm not knocking what you did. You know more about electronics than I could ever dream of. I actually bought those switches with the intention of putting one in my 810 since a replacement 810 console antenna switch is non existant. Then I found one at a Datsun swap meet for 2 bucks! The guy didn't know what it was but I recognized it as an 810 part immediately. I bought those switches in the picture last April. They might have been the last two switches that Nissanparts.cc had.- My New Cold Air Intake
I've heard it said many times that the design of the 280Z intake is similar to a 'CAI' because of how it's set up and you don't really gain much from the aftermarket/homemade type. Not sure I really notice any performance gain, mpg is virtually the same, but I like the look and sound.- My New Cold Air Intake
Nah, even 1024x768 is too big. I think that 800x600 is the biggest you can go without stretching the page. I didn't resize mine because the page was already strecthed. One thing for sure, you can really see the detail in your picture!- paint code location
His stickers are correct for a 70-76. They say 'PAINT AMINO ALKYD ENAMEL' across the bottom. 77-78 doesn't have that line across the bottom because 76 was the last year that type of paint was used.- paint code location
I have a 78 and mine is foil.- My New Cold Air Intake
Mine is 'only' 1024x768.- My New Cold Air Intake
I did this one a couple of years ago out of aluminum. Don't care much for the ones that are commercially available. I don't recall the size but it fits easily into the AFM boot. As I recall, my cost was about the same. - 1975 Fuse Box Cover
