  1. I hope so. I haven't seen 'them' at any of the shows I've attended on the west coast. I've seen Morton, Brock, and even Mr. K but not any kind of representation from Nissan Motor Co. Even when they were located in So Cal. Well, they did let us 'use' their parking lot at the headquarters for the UFO (United Five Ten Owners) swap meet. I'm not so much a Z enthusiast as I am a Datsun enthusiast. The Z isn't the only car they built but it seems to be the only one they even show remote interest in.
  2. I have it in all three of my Datsuns and have for years. I live in So Cal and I've had no problems.
  3. Yeah, I've got a comlete EFI harness somewhere as a spare for my 78. If you take a look at that thing, it gives you no clue of how it should be routed and I would think that the only way you could even be close is to have a complete EFI car, harness in place, next to the one that you're converting for comparison. I still wouldn't want do it!
  4. Besides, if the seller advertises it as a 260Z dash cover, chances are he got that info from somewhere. That casts doubt, at least in my mind, on the 'early 260' scenario.
  5. Aftermarket EMS, though more costly, would be easier to set up. At least, the electrical part of it would. The old Z/ZX/810/Maxima EFI system is somewhat antiquated. My cars already have it so I've learned to work with it and live with it. If I was going to convert a non EFI car to EFI, I would definately go with something more modern. You can tune an aftermarket stand alone system with your laptop!
  6. Also, remember he says he has an aluminum flywheel. That will lose its inertia faster than a stock flywheel.
  7. Well, I go to the shows here and I notice Toyota brings cars from their museum, Honda and Mazda does also. All we have representing Datsun are vendors, not the Nissan Corporation itself. And you have tried to buy parts for your Datsun from the Nissan dealer, right?
  8. Basically he means if it has a bad connection or the sensor is bad itself.
  9. It's more than just the wiring harness. You'd also need the ECU, relays and brackets, fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel tank, etc. I have many years experience with 280z EFI and I'm not sure I'd tackle that job.
  10. Not that I'm aware of. You may be referring to the FRP (Factory Restoration Program) back in the late 90s. It had very little to do with the factory and it's debatable as to whether those cars were 'restorations', but they were done by a couple of independant shops with some type of authorization from Nissan to purchase the cars, refresh them, and sell them through a few Nissan dealers. The program was scrapped before the completion of the originally planned number of cars. But there's nothing like that from the Factory to recondition cars belonging to the general public. Heck, it's hard enough to get the present day Nissan to acknowledge that Datsun ever existed.
  11. Why didn't the seller just end the auction if he sold the car?
  12. A 260 dash is different from a 240 dash and, like 7277 said, the 260/280 dash are the same shape though the trim and guages, etc. changed a little over the 74-78 model years. A cover for a 260/280 will not fit a 240. BTDT (or tried to)
  13. 34552-89900. It shows as 'in stock' at NissanParts.cc but you probabaly get it or at least order is at you local Nissan dealer.
  14. Hopefully these are clear enough. If not, let me know.
  15. My alignment tool is an old main drive gear from a 510 4 speed, not the plastic one that most people use.
  16. Plus you we're able to fit the alignment tool through it.
  17. I just wanted to add that when I broke mine, it wasn't quiite flush. Either way you'll have to pull the cylinder off the car to work with it.
  18. Craftsman Screw Out, size X1 is what I used on mine when I did that. I was prepared to change the wheel cylinder but that worked.
  19. That's basically what I was going to say. I use a trans jack saddle on my floor jack and once you hit the right angle/pitch, the trans slips right in when everything is lined up. That part of the job has never taken me more than a minute or so. If it's hanging up, whatever you do, don't try to force it with longer bolts, you'll 'razz' somehing to borrow a term from carrott.
  20. Where did that info come from? The reason I ask is because, like I said, I've traced those three wires and the WB goes to the BCCD cut solenoid and the speedometer, the LW goes to the right headlamp and the dome light(!), and B is a ground. What kind of device would use those connections?
  21. The last picture is of something I've been trying to find a definitive answer for years. I'ts called a 'check connector' in the wiring diagram. I have that on both my 78 280Z and my 79 810 but the 810 has four contacts instead of three. They are also capped. I've traced those wires but they don't lead me to any conclusions other that it might be some type of diagnostic port for some type of machine that Datsun service departments used back in the day. I don't know. Anyone?
  22. I had a Zoom clutch in mine for a while. IMO, it was crap. I went back to the OEM clutch about 8 years ago and haven't really had the desire to experiment with aftermarket since.
  23. Pretty straightforward from there, just don't get the 'while I'm at its' like I did. I set out to replace the pulley and then I decided to do the front cover seal and the timing chain tensioner. By the time I was done, I ended up doing a valve job as well since I had ruined the head gasket taking off the front cover.
  24. I bought one from Nissan about 8 months ago so as far as I know they're still available. Same bolt for all except the earliest L24. 12309-21000 is the bolt and 12308-65000 is the washer. Total was about $9 IIRC.
