  1. the restoration program story. My reason: That carpet is not the original style carpet used in the Datsun Restoration Program. or else it would have the holes and serge-bounding for the luggage straps. I believe Classic Datsun out San Diego was one company Nissan used to restore and they supply the original 240 carpet. This carpet looks like a simpel carpet kit from MSA. my 2 cents. Nick
  2. That groove is just left plain and serves no real purpose, just to collect more dirt i guess. I replaced my foil with this chrome foil tape sold in a large rool at Ace Hardware. It's very pliable and looks great. About 4 bucks for the roll. I tried looking for the thinner stuff for models that everyone talks about but i could never find it at ANY hobby store.

It was a bad fuel injector, the one closest to the front. Thanks for the replies
  4. for that AllState policy Marty? and can you bump up the annual miles if you want to?
  5. My car starts ONLY in N, but that's because my bushings are worn out and i need to replace them:cry:
  6. They will NOT cover if you are driving ANYWHERE except for a Sunday cruise or going to club functions or shows. I tried to get Hagerty and they wouldnt cover me even if i went to the store! I take my Z to work about twice a week and they wouldnt cover me for that!!!! READ the fine print carefully, or else you can find yourself HIGH and DRY! Nick

  8. See my gallery, i re did my taillight finishers on my 280z and i didnt have to take them off. Nick, PS i used flat black, but do it in two light coats and be sure to mask everything off CAREFULLY
  9. of people bidding way too high on stuff you can order online for a third of the price.
  10. I tried to get hagerty and they were VERY strict on where you drove the car. basically, you have to be out for a Sunday drive OR going to a car show. I'm sure if you get in an accident doing ANYTHING else, they will not pay out on ANYTHING! my .02
  11. If you come with your club, I will be coming with the GroupZ contingent and we'll all try to park there together. i was in line by 730 and we still got on the main street over by the Group Z people. I notice Arizona and Desert Z always get to park together. This show is getting REALLY big , hence the far reaching parkin spots. Nick
  12. Look in the FOR SALE section. For pics look in my Gallery. $250 OBO for the set. comes with lugs and Z caps, Nick
  13. you could buy Prestone flush fluid in a miniature bottle as you described. I used to use this in my 73 in the early 80s and it was very simple. I never see that in stores anymore so i'm not sure if they still manufacture it.
  14. That's what most ppl are saying: sounds like the heat is causing the starter to go bad. Or at least making it starting to go bad. Thanks for the help! I might try the heat shield first. the battery cables are about a year old. starts great when cold.
  15. I was under the impression, the MSA weatherstripping was ALL Precision brand. If they sold OEM Nissan w/s, the cost would be much higher!
  16. This is what my z does, i get off the freeway after my 40 mile commute, stop to get a bite and park for like 5-7 mins. I come back out to start it up and she barely turns over. The engine is very warm, but not overheated. The battery eventually gets it to start but it sounds like it's ready to give out. Battery is about 18 months old, previous owner installed it. Does this ever happen to anyone?? P.S. When i come out to start it cold, it's fine!

Whats a good way to test the ignition coil? I'm trying to eliminate it as a cause for poor accelaration which seems to be worsening each day. So far I have eliminated the pcv, vacuum leaks, AFM is a year old, injectors seem to be firing fine using the screwdriver test, My suspect list: 1. Coil, i want to replace it anyway, it looks like the darn original! 2. clogged fuel screen in filter 3. shot vacuum advance I already have a new dist. cap and new NGK plug wires whichi will replace this week. thanks
  18. in my tailight harness and Chloe at Midwest Z got me a used harness for 10 bucks! Takes about 10 minutes to take out the old harness and reinstall. One of my sockets had melted and couldnt make contact anymore.
  19. How much they charge for all the work?
  20. front bumper ends on Ebay a couple days ago. You're gonna need at least one new one on the passemger side. Sorry to see/hear about your baby. It looks totally fixablre to me.
  21. this past summer. Is it in the shock area? Do you hear it when you go over any slight bump? It might be the same problem i had: a loose gland nut on your strut. Remedy: Jack up the car ever so slightly until the tire is just off the ground. then look through the spring and you should see where the gland nut screws into the housing. you will prob have to lift up the strut boot. Get Channel Lock pliers and grab the nut, it'll be hard to do and you may have to adjust the jack to get to it. turn and tighten as much as you can and you should be good to go.
