oil sending unit. I just replaced mine last week and it now reads constant peressure whether im idling or not. Mine was also leaking oil profusely as the insides go bad in it. It's a very easy replacement. I bought the new one at my local parts store for 39 bucks rather than pay Nissan 50 plus, I just wanted it to stop leaking!!!! I always check my oil anyway!
  4. I had on my 240Z when I owned it from 1981-92. When i sold my 240 i turned the license plate back into the DMV, secretly hoping one day i would own it again! Lo and behold, when i applied for it in January, it was still available so i can put it on my 280Z! This what you'll see everytime you see me drive down the street! "See Nick's Z Go!"

  6. and this is amazingly clean inside. I would say the price is a tad high , but as has been said before I would really verify that mileage! I'm kinda worried what his resrve is, it might be 6500 or so. Any higher and I would prob pass simply because A) cant afford it and I would like to restore SOME of it myself. Thats most of the fun. But if you have the funds, i would say go for it. Since your so close i would definitelty drive down and check it out in person. The carpet will need replacing but no big thing. This mustve been garaged all the time because the SEAT BELT light and the other one are bright red and blue. Even mine are a little faded! That dash is awesome!

go without the overrider bar. IMHO I like the look of the 240 z without the big bar. I had a 73 240 when i was in college, had to sell it, and i just got a 280z in Nov. to get back into the game, enjoy!
  8. Beandip: I think that's how I will do mine. I'll need to polish them up real good first (they aren't that bad now). I think i will mask them off and then paint them black. I was going to use the metallic blue color to match the body but (A) I think it'll be too hard and expensive to match up that color and ( I think the black won't show the dirt and grime so much as the metallic blue will. Beandip, what kind of spray paint did you use? I saw Auto Zone has some wheel spray paint. I think a nice metallic black will look great! Nick
  9. Hey I was watching the movie "Class" the other day and in the very first scene where Andrew McCartney is boarding a bus bound for his new prep school, You can see a nice orange 280Z parked in the bus depot parking lot! This movie was made in 1983 and stars McCartney and Rob Lowe and Jacqueline Bisset. Anyone else see Z's prominent in Movies??? Another one that comes to my mind is in the movie "Capricorn One" starring Elliot Gould and James Brolin, Karen Black's chrachter drives a nice 1977 or 78 280!
  10. Hi EScanlon! Thanks for the info. I think I will just polish them up with a polishing kit and use some elbow grease. They dont look too oxidized to me and I dont believe they have any kind of coat on them. You said you used some gold Rustoleum. I wonder if they make my color. It's #510 Sky Blue Metallic. I know it was painted at Maaco (ack!, i know) by the PO so I wonder if they would sell me a batch of that if i go down there and ask. Or i will try to find it in rustoleum. thanks, Nick
  11. Hi! I have these on all four and I really want to hang on to them. I believe they came with the car but I'm not sure and the PO wasnt either. First does any one know if these were dealer installed? and Second: Should I paint these the same color as the body or should i stay black. Also, where could i go to have these polished up? We have some wheel and tire places but would a machine shop be better? I'd appreciate any and all suggestions, comments Nick
  12. I just had mine done and they squeeeel too but only after driving a few miles. When i had my 240z they squeeled too but after a 1,000 miles or so they settled in and stopped making noise! go figure. anyway, i'm not sweating the squeals until March!
  13. For my 280z 1) Fix oil leak, new gasket needed 2) new muffler, dynomax maybe 3) finish restoring interior-- center console and seats redone 4) refinish wheels, original slotted mags 5) get new radio and get antenna working!
  14. Hello there, Well I need to replace my front rack steering bushings and I want to use the urethane bushings from MSA. I have a 280z which is a 1978. My question is how do I go about doing this? I can see them from under the hood but i cant see them from under the car. Do i just need to jack up the car and access the bolts that way or do I need to go through the engine bay? I think I can just tear out the hold ones and then take off the bolts to install them. Any stepbystep instructions woudl be greatly appreciated! Nick
