  1. My Mom had a Pontiac Catalina when I first had memory. And my memory was :this is a huge car". We called it the "kitty cat". She always threatened to put me in the trunk when I wouldn't shut up with my questions. But why? Why? Why? Why? That makes no sense, WHY!!! Then "do as I say, not as I do". I love my dog.
  2. Read over this. It's got some great info as well as pictures! Love pictures. I followed his instructions and have a '79 ZX dizzy in my 280. Works great with a little more advance. https://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/distributor/index.html Here's the whole electrical section. https://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/electrical.htm
  3. I googled the Pangborn guy, he died in 2010. Frigidaire wives...
  4. What's this say? I've never seen a rubber stamp that cancels a title but hey, it's me. Is it "surrender to Nevada"?
  5. I had to google it. The early 90's are a blur in my life. I was in my early 20's and too cool for school if you know what I mean. Hell all the 90's now that I think about it.
  6. It's hot air off the exhaust, not water in the EGR. If you followed that down you'd see where it connects to the exhaust. My orange line here...
  7. Your's is a lot different than my '72. Here's what I see that I would plug. Blue circle. There should be one on the front intake as well closer to the radiator. This is the Y pipe I believe for your car. It should connect to that hard line you circled behind the head above. Then the thermostat housing. I can't find a picture of mine right off but I did find this.
  8. You lost me there Boss. I don't see the same thing you see. Wooo, that's kinda scary right? I don't think a 280 has that Y pipe. They don't have the coolant line behind the head, mine doesn't I know.
  9. Disco was cool? I dropped a marble between the passenger's window rubber scrapers with the window down. Being a single parent we/she listened to that thing roll for 10 years everytime the speed changed. It was the shortest funny thing i ever did. That $^!# got old real fast.
  10. That worked as a cap? Looks good and closes up the potential bug/spyder nest. Cool! I'll do the same when I do it. I found a spare Y pipe today to get ready beforehand.
  11. Dude, that's genius! Now I'm going to have to do that. Thank you???
  12. I wanted to kind of make sure we're on the same page here. You say balance tube but that's the one up top with vacuum ports the balance the air between the two carbs. No coolant. There's a smaller hardline between the intakes for coolant flow. The balance tube is the bigger one on top with the pcv hose connected. The coolant tube is the smaller one down about 6 inches. It's cad plated is this pic. In between those reddish looking spacers between the carb and intake. I'm using my phone so no paint program to make markings, sorry. Just wanted to be clear on that.
  13. If the windings behind that cardboard like cover aren't broken that one looks good. I'd guess it's not the original. After the soak @wheee! came up with it'll be like new.
  14. Click on "Diseazd replied to a topic" goes straight to a couple of good pictures of @Diseazd 1972.
  15. 5 daughters? You needed a small school bus for that basketball team.
  16. If a Harley doesn't mark it's spot something is wrong.
  17. I plugged that hose then the in on the rear intake, the out on the front intake and plugged the hole in the main thermostat housing. People will say that you need some type of flow but mines been like that for years. I DO NOT romp on my car until it gets up to heat and the thermostat is open. I know where that is on my TEMP gauge so there's no problem for me. That hole @Zed Head talks about in the thermostat is enough for my car.
  18. The only janky thing is the plugging you'll have to come up with for the coolant that runs under the spark plugs that hooks to the hardline behind the cylinder head. I put a steel threaded plug in mine with a hose clamp. I don't care though, it's no show car. Function over fashion.
  19. The reality is the thermostats on the rear intake "in" are now unoperable and irreplaceable.
  20. I deleted mine and all the potential leak spots. Best thing I've ever done too. One of the best things. Ceramic header ranks waaay up there... Talk about chilly carbs! No coolant flow and the ceramic header puts a light frost on my domes. Cooler fuel is best, look at all the people that run nitrous.
  21. It depends on what the sending unit looks like. When you drop the tank take a pic of the sending unit and post it here. It may be newer and not needing a replacement since the PO did the tank already.
  22. I brought on my float chamber lids upstairs for a picture to show a member where I measured 23mm down. I found this little flat circle on my kitchen floor last night. I can't imagine where else it would've come from? Thanks for any ideas.
  23. Could you share your acid only on Blue's tank? We have a new fellow that can't decide. Thank you! @240260280
