Z Restoration Progam
Did they really "powder coat" them? I would think paint would have been more accurate?

L20b Cody's Goon
We talked Cody into working on his car today instead of Lily. So we went over to the other garage and put as much together as we could. Pinned the parking brake cable back from the exhaust replaced the clutch master line and the clutch master The we hung all the exhaust, made up fuel lines to the carbs, primed the fuel pump, Rigged up an ignition system and some temporary power. I need to get the engine bay harness sorted but I can't get it done yet. We got fuel to the carbs but have no spark. Coil ohm's out good. We replaced the matchbox on the dizzy but still have no spark, so I ordered another cheap one off Ebay. It will be here later this week...

Cody has been back from Fla for about a week. He finally got a break. We had a short family vacation and then spent all weekend working on cars! He spent 3-4 hours tracing the turn signal circuit. In the end we switched back to the original hazard switch and that made everything light up the way it should. The flasher was bad but I have a new electronic one to use. We also made short jumper harnesses to go between the US harness and the JDM tail lights. The green and yellow will come from the brake switch at the pedal and then it should all work appropriately. We also got the car fired up yesterday. I bought a cheap L6 electronic dizzy off ebay. I swapped it in for the old match box dizzy and it fired right up. I guess the matchbox went bad the last time I tried to fire it up because it sort of bumped over for a sec and then no spark. We'll see how long this dizzy lasts Ordered a reverse switch for the transmission and that may be sorted. Need to sort power for the blower fan and some odds and ends electrical and it will be close to ready to test

To replace or not replace ball joint.
I would say yes, if it's not sloppy

I will double check that but I don't believe any of that has been changed since my last test fire. I did remove the combo switches and reinstall. Maybe I messed something up there

I'm using the 280zx matchbox. No ballast resistor on the car. I will check those other items when I'm back in the shop

So I don't know that I've made any progress yet this weekend. I went to test fire the car. It will crank but acts like it has no spark. I checked voltage at the coil in the run position and it doesn't have any voltage there. I ran a jumper wire from the battery to the hot terminal of the coil and when she turned the key on you could here what sounded like the starter solenoid getting pulled in. I still couldn't get it to fire up. The only upside is it is pumping fuel from the tank. Although a portion is all over the shop floor now... oh and I do have headlights until the one burned out but no high beam indicator Super frustrating

That's pretty cool! I had thought maybe the firewall was labeled before being included in the chassis but you're saying the chassis was complete and the fixture was mounted to the chassis and the ID number was applied then...

@siteunseen Thanks Cliff. I didn't see it in those search results. Part of the problem is figuring out what the OP called that chrome squeegee strip... On another note. I'm all legal now! :)

I hate the modern search engine! Useless! Shows you it thinks you want instead of what you asked for... There is a thread on the forum, not an ancient thread, that shows how to replace the window sweeps on the the chrome door trim. I was going to reread it to see how he dealt with some issues I'm having but I can't find it now :( Can somebody help? Maybe the librarian?

I did a quick alignment on the front wheels today I mounted the air dam up to the car and test fit the turn signals I worked on the chrome trim sweeps for the door glass but I need some pictures of how they mount. Even with the rear of the door shell? Rubber trimmed inside of the chrome frame? I assume I will have to trim the rubber in place otherwise you might trim the front angle in the wrong place

I like stock cars but I also like modified cars. I like it when hybrid cars use a driveline from the same manufacturer. If I didn't have so many projects I would consider taking that one on...

The door latches I used Tail light chrome pieces. They weren't very flat. So I heated them slightly to reshape them. I did cause some wrinkling in the finish on the one that was pretty warped. I probably should have sent them back and exchanged them but for now it's fine Bought some washer to hold the trims on Installed Some butyl to hold the lens in The center post of the chrome is supposed to be long enough to go all the way through the back and get another star washer. The posts on my repops aren't long enough for that. So hopefully the lens don't fall out Felts for the bottom lens drains Shop dog More Belmetric Lights in place Finishers Badges, because everyone knows badges make cars run better!! ;)
