Removing headliner and diamond vinyl in prep for painting
There's no need to remove those items if the cabin is properly sealed off. My car had the headliner, header vinyl, and some of the diamond cloth in place while the car was being painted, all well protected by the paint shop.

Hah! Retuning to stock is truly a mountain too high. I'll leave competing in Stock Class to those better talented and qualified.

Golden Anniversary - Safari Gold Style
Today marks the 50th anniversary of closing the deal on my 240Z. It did not start out as a "forever car" but thoughts of a '66 Mustang Fastback I let go of to quickly always tickled the back of my brain, telling me to never make a quick decision on this one. Glad those tickles kept me honest! 1999 - Getting the car out of the garage after 16 years of storage and a bath before starting the teardown for the restore. 92k miles at the time and other than the first two years when I was in an apartment, always garaged. Recent pics celebrating the car's 50th birthday. ZCON 2015 - Our first trip to the big dance worked out pretty good. Unfortunately there are no cool, curvy, country roads near my urban residence so I had to make do with a run on a nearby toll road to get a fix of the Symphony In Straight Six. Enjoy! 50th Anniversary Clip.mp4

Back to Original
I was previously using the blue NGK wires and had no complaints or problems. In getting my car ready for ZCON a few years ago several of my knowledgeable friends recommended I switch back to black wires for an improved appearance. I went with the Denso black wires from Rockauto, no ignition problems with this excellent product.

240Z Poster for car shows?
That is a beautiful car and you are deservedly proud of it. What you are attempting to communicate is laudable but likely impractical from a car show perspective. I have a 18" X 24" showboard that I cart around to car shows, propped up nicely on a good quality easel. This is my third pass at a workable showboard after learning that 1. less is more; 2. clarity is critical; 3. it must be readable from 3-4' away. The amount of info you are considering will require multiple boards to contain. Experience has shown me that anything that requires more than a couple of minutes to read will not get read. 99% of car show visitors do not have the patience to cover large amount of detail; you may encounter that one individual prepared to occupy you for an hour or more. You'll always find people that don't understand or appreciate the marque and probably never will. Focus on presenting YOUR car as effectively and succinctly as possible. 240z values - 4 speed vs 5 speed
There's still a lot of folks that place a value on originality.

240 Taillight Panel
If you are a Nissan guy working to improve assembly line efficiency, it makes a lot of sense to change from using two different fasteners and two tools to using one style fastener and only one tool - probably a small mallet to drive the pins home.
-
240 Taillight Panel
Absolutely sure - at least on my car. It is a small flange hex-head sheet metal thread bolt, about 8mm head. These are original to my car. It is not listed in the online parts catalog, so the factory may have switched to rivets at some point, hence the spec for 8.
-
240 Taillight Panel
Here is the P/N for the small rivets to secure the rear finisher, still available from your local Nissan dealer or CourtesyParts.com: 79909-E4100 Not cheap at $1.86 each (Courtesy Parts dept. pickup) but its the correct item if that is important to you. Interesting that the online parts catalog specifies qty. 8 when only 6 are required. The center panel of the finisher set uses two small hex-head bolts behind the license plate.

Radiator Fan Shroud
A "must have" for tropical BC, eh? 😁

Radiator Fan Shroud
Hah, I knew that pic was familiar - that is a shroud I refurbished and sold about four years ago. As I recall it went to guy in the Philippines. The towel under the piece was the giveaway.

Restoration of BringaTrailer 240z - HLS30-35883
If you have not used a commercial plating service previously, be advised that tiny bits can/will get lost - it's just the nature of the process. You can help to avoid much (but not all) of that by tying small items together. I use soft wire for stringing springs, nuts, washers into a loop to cut down losses. For small screws I use a thin SS wire and wrap it a few times around the threads, then give it a few twists to lock it, then daisy-chain the next one and so on. This approach is not perfect but far better than leaving everything loose.
