  1. It certainly was a different time. Even the pit crew guys Going over the BRE Z are nicely dressed. Gotta love the white pants. Dennis
  2. Nice find. Any worries about cutting the necessary holes? Dennis
  3. I think we all have those "I just want to get in the Z and drive without having to fix something, again" days...or weeks....or years. Kind of explains those Barn Find Zs that turn up from time to time. Be strong! Dennis
  4. Find a shop and ask what they need. When I've had it done, the shop I used only needed a line drawing that was then scanned and the engraving machine did the rest..
  5. A good engraving shop can scan a graphic, resize as needed, and then engrave it on metal. Shouldn't be too big a deal for a good shop. Dennis
  6. Not sure what kind of hubs and knock offs you're talking about, but any local trophy shop should be able to handle your engraving needs. Dennis
  7. Add me to those who say to just repair the damage and move on. It will appeal to a larger group of buyers than the BRE look. The analogy above comparing it to a real estate sale was spot on. The less personalized, the wider attention from potential buyers. Dennis
  8. The red handles would certainly liven up the interior if one wasn't concerned about orginality. I like it. Dennis
  9. As noted above by John. However, location of the tank also contributed to the process in rear end collisions as the tank was between the differential and the rear bumper and would come into contact the bolts mentioned on impact. In one of the many legal cases, the Studebaker Avanti was referenced as having its gas tank in a safer location above the differential and between the trunk and the back seat. The Avanti was used as an example to show that the proper design was common knowledge at the time the Pinto was built. i remember a political cartoon published at the time of the Pinto issue that depicted a B52 bomber dropping Pintos instead of bombs over Vietnam Dennis
  10. Could be a good deal or could be a pig. In the shop for thirteen and a half years of the fourteen years he owned it? I would probe deeper. As for the $5,000 total restoration on the '72 Z..................is there a zero missing from that figure? Dennis

  12. Yup - fiberglass then and now. Dennis
  13. Your dash looks like new! Nice job. Dennis
  14. The wrap material mentioned earlier would certainly give various texture choices, like carbon fiber, but would not play well with the speaker holes on the rear side panels. The sprays look nice if a good cleaning doesn't work. Dennis
  15. Whoever goes, please check in here before going and also when you get home. It's easy to find, first house on the left after you pass the dilapidated trailer park. Just enter though the gate. The pit bulls are friendly. Dennis
  16. Plenty of space on the property to bury bodies. Could be how he acquired some of those cars. Just set a lure on Craigslist and sit back and wait for a bite. This has all the elements of a "Silence of the Lambs" type movie thriller. Anyone care to add to the story? Dennis
  17. "54th imported" is a lot more difficult to prove than "54th built". Curious that he didn't list the VIN if it's such an early car. But, that's the charm of Craigslist. Dennis
  18. 54th Z imported into the US, he claims. I wonder how he knows that or where it's documented. Dennis
  19. Your description makes it sound like scrap, so you may want to pay by the pound - $1,000 or less. Dennis
  20. Fuel delivery is pretty straight forward. Gas in tank, electric pump with pressure rating adequate for your Z, clean fuel filter(s). If you've checked the pressure rating at the carbs and the carbs are working and adjusted correctly, you should be good to go. You've tried a few pumps if I remember correctly. Have you measured the current pump pressure or are you just guessing it's inadequate? What amount of pressure is your current pump putting out? Dennis
  21. Everyone enjoying the new season? Lots of Zombie carnage in the first episode. Dennis
  22. What's your budget for this restoration? Knowing that number would make planning a bit easier to accomplish. Dennis
  23. It needs to be affordable and undercut the price of the alternatives to be successful in North America. If it carries a Porsche or Corvette price tag, it will lose the "entry level" appeal the Z has always held for sports car enthusiasts. Dennis
  24. Beware the rust you don't see with a Z. Do you have a budget for this project? Don't forget to factor in a set of new rubber seals for the glass, rear hatch, and doors. cutting out the rust spots and welding in new metal will solve the visible problems, but add expense. Since you're in a tropical area, expect new rust spots to appear as time goes on. Did you get a couple estimates on body work and painting? Dennis
  25. Unless that's a Morgan, something is seriously wrong with that picture. Dennis
