  1. Sorry for the delay in getting to this. I did mine in a product called "Kreem", it took two of them, as these are made for large motorcycle tanks. Like siteunseen said above, a wire to make sure the vents are open and high pressure air to make sure they stay open. A mirror on a stick and lots of light you can see for sure every inch of the interior. I have had no problems of any kind. I did mine in the spring of 06 and did not use it until the refurbishment was done in spring of 08 before it saw fuel. And that is the key to most of the failures that I have read about, not enough curing time. So make sure it is really hard before you add gasoline. Bonzi Lon
  2. With what you are wanting, easiest and cheapest would be 'kitchen enamel'. Nice thick coat it dries super hard, all of the above cleaners will not hurt it, easily wipes off, but it smells terrible putting it on, but you get used to it. If its made for grease in the kitchen, it should work for a few hand prints in the shop. Bonzi Lon
  3. I once had a Bridgestone SR-20 that had a tread pattern very close to the one shown, if not the same. I was also made of a rubber compound that I have never felt before. It had a strange feeling to it. It didn't feel like any other tire. The rubber was slick & squeaky when rubbed. That tire is now in Japan on one of Kats' Z-cars. Bonzi Lon
  4. You might try the archives. I would try to find it, but computer stupid. I remember about 5 to 7 years ago, a rather lengthy thread about the very early and early color differences in the items you are trying to match. I also have an original D wheel cover & the paint on it looks very light by now. In the Wick Humble book "How to Restore Your Datsun Z Car", there is a recipe for the color. Bonzi Lon
  5. The 73 front over rider bar is different than the others. The mounting points are closer together because the over riders are closer together, completly different bumper, over riders & mountings. Measure the distance between the center of the rubber on the over riders and the mounting holes on the bar you are going to purchase to know for sure. On page 1 of this thread I posted a side by side photo of 69 & 73 bumpers and over riders. Bonzi Lon
  6. .classiczcars.com/topic/54975-datsun-240z-260z-280z-wiper-blades-wire-metal-pair-oem-new-658/#comment-491205 Found in the ebay section, hope this helps. Bonzi Lon
  7. Have you tried a regular application of the 'Rain-X' type products for a while to see if that would help, before major modifications? Bonzi Lon
  8. For my 73, I ordered from Courtesy, new OEM Nissan 'Blade Assy-Wipe ' B6370-E4100, they are 18 inches long. Bonzi Lon
  9. My interior is off white. It was very dirty over the 26 years in storage. I used acetone with white T-shirt pieces until soiled then got another. The acetone did not hurt the texture, cleaned it very well. Make sure you have plenty of fresh air. Then I used several coats of SEM 15103 Super White vinyl dye. Came out very nice and happy with the results. I also was thinking about wrapping in leather, but that will have to wait. Bonzi Lon
  10. It is my understanding that the Elephant oil cap was produced in honor of the East African Rally win. I am not sure if they were put on cars at the factory, but my 73 had one on it when i bought it in 1977. Bonzi Lon
  11. I used this method as a watchmaker once. Boiling alum water in a copper pot. Dissolved the broken screw in about an hour. Smaller screw of course. Bonzi Lon
  12. When I had HLS30-00110, I went through the list of cars on Z-Home and was able to find only 5 blue/blue combos in the first 3500 vin's of current owners. Gave up after that many. The off white interior parts are only available now, not the real white of the 70-72. The SEM vinyl dye called 'Super White 15103' matches perfect to the off white available now. MSA used it on a black tail finisher I got from them to replace the old off white one I had as an original, matched perfect to the rest of the interior. Bonzi Lon
  13. I have a set of quilted furniture moving pads I double up and put on top of a set of fender pads. The fendaer pad have a soft rubber backing to keep things from sliding around, the quilted pads are cheap and fairly thick. Bonzi Lon
  14. I've used a piece of garden hose up to a plastic soda bottle with the lid on to retain the air and shape. Bonzi Lon
  15. That's the one, thanks. Bonzi Lon
  16. Check to make sure you have enough spot welding 'meat' to hold it in place. The 73's were famous for breaking off, ask me I know. Bonzi Lon
  17. Thanks to all that have offered to help me with a roof skin. I have now decided it will be too involved for me to do. I will just live with the sun roof and let the new owner deal with it. Again, thanks to all of the offers. Bonzi Lon
  18. Over the Holidays went tot he garage to check the status of the car. The paperwork showed it was out only 5 times this year with about 200+ miles. Not a single car show or Z event was attended. I don't know what happened with that. Bonzi Lon
  19. Steve: Here is a link to the color chips, , they both look close but I think the 915 is a little brighter, a little more 'pop'. I had HLS30-00110 that was blue/blue covered in black paint but can't remember the difference because of the black. It is my understanding the blue/white is the second rarest ( meaning less made) than the blue/blue. It is your car so do as you want, just giving you another option. Bonzi Lon The link didn't work, it is in Carl Beck's ZHome site, left side clear at the bottom. Sorry, I'm computer stupid.
  20. Too bad you are so far away. I could use a whole roof. I had a chance at the last roof skin that Courtesy had but they wanted $1600 for it. Just wasn't able to do that much at that time, still can't, but would like one at a reasonable price Bonzi Lon
  21. If the color is not set in stone yet, you might consider the 915 blue with the off white interior. I happen to like that combination. Bonzi Lon
  22. I am still using Cam Shield at every oil change, going on 13K miles now. Bonzi Lon
  23. I have a 73 and was given a lid for the later console, 76, 77 or 78 can't remember what he said. It will not fit, too large in both length and width. Bonzi Lon
  24. Craigslist post deleted. Bonzi Lon
  25. Guys notice wheels, wives notice shoes. Bonzi Lon
