  1. The only problem with the Hagerty article is that "The 240Z has its roots in a 1964 design penned by Albrecht Goertz..." FWIW. Bonzi Lon
  2. You are lucky to have the fog lights, they are very expensive to replace. Be prepared to get the word "cute" a lot from everybody. My little sister, "That is soooo cute. What is it? I want it". Did it come with the hardtop? I'm looking for one for mine, but the fog lights will have to wait. Bonzi Lon
  3. I was thinking a moist 'Tootsie Roll'. Bonzi Lon
  4. There are many former aircraft workers (Wichita KS) that were / are hot rodders that have used them for decades around here. Some were aquired by employing the 'lunch box' method. They are a very helpful tool that will make your job a lot easier and the work look much better. Bonzi Lon

My blue 73 has the off white, faded & dirty over the years, was refreshed with SEM Vinyl Dye. Hope to see you both at the Branson Z-Fest at the end of May & the first part of June. Bonzi Lon
  6. The crank shaft bolt is 27mm not 19. Bonzi Lon
  7. I have used that 'artifact' many times as a teenager. The fuel looks just like what I had in my 73 tank, but is was a 26 year old vintage. Sure glad the pic didn't come with smell-a-vision. That an be some nasty smelling stuff. Bonzi Lon
  8. I've used a MSA postcard for the gaskets from the balance tube to the intakes. Bonzi Lon
  9. Richard has the event & time tattooed to his inner arm, can't remember which one. Bonzi Lon
  10. I didn't have a 27mm socket that would fit either, however a thin wall 1 1/16th inch will fit. Bonzi Lon
  11. The majority of posts that I had read before the refurbishment was a straight 20 weight oil. That was easily found on my shelf as "John Deere Hydrostat Oil", straight 20 weight no additives or detergents. It has worked fine in both sets of carbs that have been on this engine. IIRC, each carb will hold about 2cc of oil. I use a 6cc medical syringe (w/o needle) to fill with no mess and correct amount. Bonzi Lon
  12. The blue one was taken from 1977 to 1979, can't remember. If the other side was shown I could tell as the wheel covers came off when jumping Rail Road tracks at a high speed, never did find them. The other one is what it looked like 26 years later. Two years after getting out of the back of the garage it looked like the finished product. Bonzi Lon
  13. Yes, the "ny-lock" self locking nut on top of the shock rod, under the black cap on the top of the strut tower. Bonzi Lon
  14. Mine did the same thing. The cause was the 'self locking' nut on the shock rod had come loose. The shock rod was nearly worn in two. The 'D' shape hole in the insulator was rounded beyond use, same with the shock. Might check this also with all of the other items mentioned. Bonzi Lon
  15. I went out & looked. The hose screws into the slave, the other end has the flair nut on the steel line to attach that end & the lock clip to hold everything in place. Black Dragon shows a separate copper crush washer for the brake lines on the 79-83, but no washer available for the clutch hose. Bonzi Lon
  16. I figured it out after I bought both OEM sets. The fronts are 240mm in length (interesting number). The rears are 260mm in length. I was thinking the fronts would be longer as they turn and have more travel, but the package said the longer ones go in the rear. An interesting side note, these brake lines will work as the clutch line also, same length as either front or rear, can't remember now. Bonzi Lon
  17. IIRC, the specs are 15.9 gallon. However, when the tank is empty and the engine won't run due to lack of fuel, there will be about a gallon plus still left in the tank. The fuel pick-up line is about an inch off of the floor of the tank to prevent 'bottom of the tank stuff' from entering the system. The original stock float will also be off of the floor of the tank when reading empty. Bonzi Lon
  18. With that VIN it would be very close to one of the last 240's ever made. Bonzi Lon
  19. For visual effect, leave an empty gun holster in the seat. (when the car is all buttoned up) Bonzi Lon
  20. Flashback to ZCON10 in Nashville, TN.... Mr. Matsuo was checking out my car. He noticed the after-market sunroof and gently tapped it saying, "This not mine. This not mine." I told him it was a mistake & would be repaired. He really liked & commented several times on the color, he even signed my glove box. Bonzi Lon
  21. I'm liking the wheels. Wonder what they are? Need some caps though. Bonzi Lon
  22. Jerry: With a custom wood shop, of course you would use 'pocket screws'. Bonzi Lon
  23. An empty gun holster on the seat will work also. Bonzi Lon
  24. Household vinegar works great on copper, brass and bronze, not so well with aluminum, it is the difference from citric acid in the lemon juice & acetic acid in the vinegar. Gives any copper based object a new look if you don't want an aged patina. Bonzi Lon
  25. This is the 'Car Parts Manual' page, there seems to be one digit difference on the 'special bolt'. Datsun 240Z Tail Gate Panel, Trim, Lock & Rear Bumper (To Jul.-'73) Bonzi Lon
