  1. Took a day off work and decided to get my garage more organized so that I can more easily work on the parts and sub-assemblies. First step was getting everything outside. I couldn't resist laying out a bunch of the parts and taking a few pics before I start putting it away.🙂
  2. Casting batch identification. They would be casting several batches a day, and each batch would be given its own identifying code letter for quality control/traceback purposes.
  3. You should have a sign that says “some assembly required “.
  4. So last weekend and early this week I went to the shop for a little while I stitched up the pocket Then dressed them down After trying the hinges again, I added some clearance at the gutter edge on both sides. After that I brushed on some zinc rich primer. A little seam sealer and it aught to be ready to reassemble. Hopefully I can get the hatch flush now. If not it will have to wait for another day. This was going to be my project this weekend, but I've been sick all week and I haven't gotten over the hump yet... I might make it to the shop for an hour or so tomorrow.
  5. Reinforcements/washers for the front cross member attachment to frame rail
  6. They are just 6mm spades, but the type that has the spring tab. I have a bunch I bought off AliExpress. The sleeves I just notched myself This is a vendor selling them already prepped
  7. Cart in front of the horse syndrome…. Put the refurbished alternator is proper painted stator housing waiting on a home…….
  8. The coding system for the numerals makes sense. However, what is the purpose of the letter? For example, the coding for an engine block in my possession is '2329N'. The engine was removed from a Z produced in April 1972 (VIN 079701) and its number (101275) matches the number shown on the ID plate taken from the engine compartment. If I understand correctly, '2329' indicates 29-March-1972. But what does the 'N' mean?
  9. Yes. I had a quote for cleaning my back porch, and 360’ of railing around the edges, and saw my chance to argue for the unit , in the name of buyingbthe machine for half the cost of the quote….. still haven't finished in the backyard yet, but is is convenient for ‘occasional body panel, car etc……
  10. Sigh... You really want bowl drains? This happened many moons ago...
  11. Factory-fitted air conditioning was available from the beginning of production in the Japanese market. The core support panel was shared between Domestic and Export markets, hence the mounting holes for the S20-specific air cleaner box and radiator overflow bottle being present on Export cars.
  12. From what I can see it got passed around a few times in the California/ Texas area? It has a zcar home registered “diploma “ from back in 1995 declaring it under restoration…. I received it as it was in pictures in 2013 on BAT auction….. In a way the car is in better shape by sitting in various garages, and sheds over the past 30 plus years…. Even had one comment that it had been looked at back in the 80s and was a “train wreck” then. Of course 80s train wrecks are today peachs, I guess….especially if you’re used to seeing east coast Zs…….😃
