  1. Current condition picture. New roof is welded in and I have been leading in the corners. I am removing the dash and going to send it off to Just Dashes for repair. I am going to remove all the suspension and sandblast the tub. I am debating on getting a rotisserie or a chasis dolly. I just cant decide how I want to treat the underside of the car. It is in nice condition and could probably be pressure washed and undercoated. I will make that decision later when the car is completely stripped. A little work here a little work there. Kind of jumping around scratching my chin.
  2. Nissan went to aluminum front covers in later transmissions. That's not an aftermarket piece. Check the nose for wear. The throwout bearing rides on it and if it seizes it can wear a groove in the nose. The hole is a weep hole so that any leakage will exit before it travels down and out the end of the nose over the clutch disc. Like Dave WM said, make sure you find that shim. It's important.
  3. look out for shims on the countershaft bearing used to space it correctly on the front plate. Sometimes they get stuck to the front plate with some oil, but can get lost.
  4. I bought a leather couch in Atlanta and brought it home then had to leave it in my garage until I built an 2nd floor deck. Long story. Anyhow for the drive back home from Atlanta I wrapped it with shrink wrap I bought at Home Depot. Worked great and cost maybe $20 or so? Maybe you and a helper could do your Z from front to back so it wouldn't blow off. Just a thought but it might work?
  5. Actually the car I have been working on does not have the correct radiator support for the year. I believe it is a 280z support, It seems to fit fine and all the panels line up. There are differences between the years but I still believe the critical dimensions are the same
  6. That's almost certainly the same car. Same wheels and paint for sure. I think the wing and air dam are the same. He had louvers on the rear glass, which I think I see on the car. Anderson is small now, and was much smaller then. The odds of two identical Z's, so heavily modified, in the same town has to be nearly zero. That's cool that the car still exists. I always wondered what happened to it.
  7. They are made in China.
